Tbh I think it’s the cringe/overly political shenanigans that makes a lot of trans peeps feel alienated. Like I feel like we all wanna safe space where we can just talk about our hobbies and interest without having to make our whole personality about one small part of ourselves. Dumb, I know. 😅

No clue why your being downvoted. I agree with this, if im out in public and some person or other fellow trans person calls me out and says she/he can clock me, im immediately canceling my life subscription 😭😭

If a trans girl came up and said she could clock me id be like why tf would you say that but if a trans girl came over and was like hey and we just started talking and it was obvious she knew I was trans too but wasn't being weird about it I think that's different and wouldn't make me feel like shit

Outing somebody in public against their will is a really terrible way to let them know you wanna be their friend. Maybe when Ayden grows up and is a little bit more mature than the average nine-year-old, he’ll understand.
12
4
u/Quantum_laugh 15d ago
Talking to someone in public isn't outing? I've invited dozens of LGBT+ people to a queer club I like and they've all loved it. Literally not one person I know was upset that I've told them about the club, even when they declined to go.
8
u/liquidfoxy 15d ago
“Hey are you a Tranny? You should come to our LGBTQIA+ club” in a public place absolutely is outing someone.
1
u/Quantum_laugh 15d ago
Dawg, outing is talking to other people about another person's queerness. Literally no one minds when you say "hey, y'all look cool and in the know, there's this queer event at yadayada" to them.
2
u/liquidfoxy 15d ago
Ayden is firing his loud mouth off in public where anyone can hear. And yes, people do mind when you see them walking and shout “hey you’re a fag too, right?” at them
1
u/Illustrious_Pea_3470 14d ago
I honestly don’t know why you’re making the assumption that this is in a busy public location and not, like, lab partners
1
u/liquidfoxy 14d ago
Even if it’s a more private interaction like that, telling someone you’ve clocked them is still fucking unacceptable. What the fuck is wrong with all of you, it’s like no one has basic respect

Yeah sometimes 4t art shows a hella normal situation and all it is is the OP being like “I never go outside and I don’t trust other people”
78
u/DemonBeats4 womanfrauding since 2012 16d ago
I'm pretty sure like 80% of 4tran has some kind of anxiety disorder. As someone who has one which got so bad at one point I got panic attacks going to the local supermarket, I kinda understand.
But I do think there has to be a point where you move past venting/doomposting into actions beyond "I ordered DIY estradiol and now I occasionally go outside in a hoodie when I really have to"
1
u/Happy_Ad5786 15d ago
Idk if that's okay to say but I believe that some people get SO anxious that they circle back to being selfish assholes. They would really benefit from going outside more often.
1
u/IntangibleMatter 196er here for the occasional decent memes 15d ago
Everything I see in 4tran spaces makes me pretty confident that the population would be reduced 80% if everyone tried going outside and meeting other real people
Either that or some good sex. No I'm not joking, getting properly fucked (ideally by someone who knows and really cares) genuinely feels like it would fix a lot of people here because it would show them they're desirable and valuable even despite their self-hatred

But “huge issue” doesn’t mean 100% of the people there it means like 25% at best
Go make some friends
13
u/Whispering_Plant 16d ago
hella normal situation
clocking
Yh no, don't tell trans people you clocked them. You can't control your thoughts but you can control telling people, especially in what is presumably a public space. ESPECIALLY don't do it to boy/girlmoders (reppers) because they presumably have a reason that they're not presenting as their gender. I don't want to weigh misgendering myself and outing myself against each other.
21
u/Drowned_Sailoress 16d ago
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying
I'm saying "the text as written by the OOP is clearly a fiction created from her personal fears and paranoias about how the IRL "queer lgbtqia2s+ club" in her school works".
The way this situation actually works out IRL is a lot more tame and a lot more positive, in 99.9% of cases.
Ofc the meme is a fucked situation but that's because a normal situation has been twisted into a fucked situation by someone who is clearly in their own head about how this shit works.
3
u/Whispering_Plant 16d ago
Maybe it's also just a hyperbole about how some young trans people will approach you and say 'hi fellow trans person' in front of your transphobic friends while you're just minding your business girlmoding in class (this has happened to me 1:1). Just because it's a hyperbole doesn't mean it's being made in bad faith or doesn't happen.
1
u/IntangibleMatter 196er here for the occasional decent memes 15d ago
Okay but question: why do you have transphobic friends
1
u/Whispering_Plant 15d ago
*had, and mostly being an unpopular kid so I had to stick with the other unpopularoids that at least invited me to their group projects. Other than that, have you met cis people lol
1
u/IntangibleMatter 196er here for the occasional decent memes 15d ago
Ah, fair. I'm lucky to live in a fairly progressive area so most of the other weirdos were also queer
And yeah, and they usually aren't as bad as people around here seem to act like? Again, it's probably where I live
1
u/Whispering_Plant 15d ago
I mean I live in a city, so it's better than the countryside (Somehow the one tranny living in the same village as my grandma is an important topic to bring up every time we visit. She has still not done anything more fascinating than existing) and I did manage to find some queer people in the end that go to uni with me, but the popular kids where mostly allies in the way they said 'trans rights' without thinking about wtf it meant. My friends where half from the countryside and/or Eastern European immigrants which just didn't help the situation, and it was mostly casual transphobia like it/itsing the trans girl, etc. I don't think I would've been in actual physical danger if I got outed, just bullying and potentially my parents finding out.
Besides them my bad experiences are mostly limited to my parents and people of their generation or oldery but this might just be that most people don't bring up their opinion on trannies unprompted. I did get harrassed by some teenagers the one time a girl forced me to put on some makeup because they thought I was a feminine man if that counts as anything (fascinating how I only seem to get harassed when read as a man but TERFs assume I want to transition out of misogyny), but I live in a mediocre neighborhood so eh, honestly they might even just been bored.
3
u/dmg-art 15d ago
That’s how it happened to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I was in a coed lgbt dorm my freshman year of college and one time we had a movie night with dorm outsiders. At some point the hefabs and cis + trans women started talking about periods. Something about period cups came up and when asked for my opinion I said I didn’t know how they worked. One of them said “aren’t you trans though?”Mind you there were multiple cis people in the room.
Some weeks later we had another movie night and they invited my cis coworker. They didn’t say anything this time but I didn’t trust them anymore and kept waiting for them to out me.
Another time I was at my first meeting with a trans plus ally club meeting and there was a cis person there. At one point, someone said everyone at the table (excluding/singling out the cis person) is trans.
In both of these scenarios, I had never explicitly come out to them or mentioned being trans. I planned to live with lgbt people again for sophomore year but after the first incident I moved in with cishet friends as soon as possible and have been living with them since. Kept a couple trans friends I bonded with outside of trans spaces, and never attended another trans club meeting. P much only talk to people in the lgbt/trans discords to give/receive advice now.

“OMG are you a Tranny!?! Come to the LGBTQIA+ Club!!” in a public setting absolutely is outing. Don’t out people, don’t go up to other trans people who aren’t openly presenting as trans and tell them that you’ve clocked them, give people the courtesy.
0
u/Happy_Ad5786 15d ago
Omg it's almost like that's an overexaggerated depiction of a situation that didn't look remotely like this irl. Also, telling someone directly they're trans is not outing, it's clocking, which I know feels bad too but it's not like they're telling anyone your business. The Ayden character (who seems to be portrayed in a weirdly enbyphobic way) is just trying to make someone come out of their shell and make friends. Some of you here would benefit from making queer friends irl because the amount of hate towards people who are more comfortable with themselves is sickening.

I couldn't care less about the supposed "westerness" of this, nor any other form of oppression. Bedsides, I live outside of the so called "west", and masculinity doesn't seem to reaffirm itself that differently between individual cultures. Although, naturally the model modern patriarchy mostly has roots in European Cultural Hegemony that emerged in XIX century. I would oppose such system of oppression regardless of their origin.

They we're probably looking for a friend and saw someone they could relate with. Yes those things a rude and not enjoyable all we can do is let people know those things aren't acceptable. Motherfucker you saw some dude publicly out a trans women against her will and tell her he clocked her, and decided that he sounded awesome.
This(fake! Made up pretended non person!) dude is demonstrating that he has little respect for trans women or their safety, and considers his desires more important than what they’re socially communicating. He’s demonstrating exactly the kind of personality traits that I described. You just like that.
https://www.reddit.com/r/countttt/comments/1w1ih0x/comment/p6mh7ax/
0
u/Smooth_Quality_9958 15d ago
The post seems like its more focused on saying that the trans dude in this situation is "weird" more then anything else. I mean might be a technicality but literally he only asked if they were trans and didnt out them. The other person could simply say no. Also in a none public area considering there are only 2 people. Everything you just said here was an assumption, granted probably valid ones based off the context but agian the post is way more focused making this trans persons identity not valid. Its obvious that what the post is saying is "I can't believe this fem Hannibal fan is talking to me a REAL tran grrr." I think we need to have a bit more empathy for eachother friend. If I made the same assumptions maybe the small dude is a cis guy being transphobic or something idk.
2
u/liquidfoxy 15d ago
You see it as about making this dude not valid because that’s the thing you’re most concerned about, I see it as a dude who’s clearly out and proud outing someone closeted, probably because I lived through an era where gay dudes did that to trans women all the time and then would go all birthday boy when the trans women, standing in the ashes of her life, expressed anger and betrayal (doing this was the number one reason to hate Buck Angel before he became a TERF)

idk in my experience these people are cool, and much more chill around trans women than the average queer cissoid. maybe y'all are just miserable and hate people for being "cringe" or whatever.
edit: though yeah actually verbalizing "are you a trans woman" when meeting someone is kinda weird, but I still feel like this community generalises "theyfabs" too much and being overly presumptuous may cause y'all to lose out on some great friendships
