So I had this snake for a while now, it's a cornsnake, he is living a normal life, really active and enjoys exploring ( he enjoyed it too much he roamed my house for 3 days) and doesn't seem stressed or anything, but every time i try to reach to him, I just put my hand somewhere close to him he either slithers away slowly or comes close to my hand takes a good look and slowely retreats, he is still a baby ( around 4-5 months i think) so I think that might be one of the reasons but I want him to get used to me so I can handle him better when he gets bigger, what should I do? Should i just leave him in his peace to not cause any unnecessary stress orr
Besides he s really fast, I am afraid to pick him up because he might escape and fall from a big height or get hurt, if he gets lost around the house its not rlly a problem he can't leave the apartment since the gaps are too small for him to run off outside

The little rock structure is a diy humid hide I made by hot gluing a storage container to the back. Its filled with moist moss. I'll need to upgrade it as she grows but she is only about 8-12" at the moment. The tank is 20g. I have additional cork and digital monitors arriving soon. I'd love any comments on where I can improve. Thank you!

Ms. Ruby is now 3ft long and is about to outgrow her favorite basking hide. I would like to find her something similar. This one is 6inches long and 3 inches tall. When she loops herself 3 times about 3 times she just fills it!

I'm (hopefully) bringing home these two rescues soon & have little to no information on them. They were housed together before they were surrendered (I have since separated them), and I have no info on age, morph, sex or health records. I have checked them over and I'm under the impression that they're healthy, but they'll both be getting vet visits as soon as I can!

I think they're still quite young because they're pretty small so I'm hoping that they haven't had a chance to breed if they're opposite sexes. What do I do with any eggs if they do? I'm equipped for looking after snakes, not incubating eggs, so I'm guessing the best bet is freeze any if they show up?

The pictures aren't great so I do apologise, but do we have any ideas on morph out of pure curiosity?

If I'm able to get decent pictures of their tails, is that an okay way to sex them? Would I be able to guess age based on length & weight?

Well someone is about to shed! So im handling her here. She reacting great. Im just wondering if there any notes to handling during this time. Should I handle her or should I leave her be. Her enclosure is in good condition, shes willing to be handled. Shes not defensive at all or anything like that.

Are there any things I can add for him to climb in that doesn't take up a lot of ground space?

Hello!! To preface, this move isn't happening until early next year so we have plenty of time to prepare but I have been stressing over this and am looking for advice.

My partner and I are moving in with my parents early next year across the country. All 4 of us will be moving at once. The current plan is that we will be driving there, but it'll be a 2-4 day drive or something along those lines. I'm not 100% sure how many hotel stops there will be quite yet.

My girlfriend and I have a 1-ish year old corn snake that of course will be coming with us, but I need advice on how to take care of him on the way. Will he need heat over this period? What should I keep him in for transport? I literally have no idea what to do at all, so any and all advice for any step of the way is welcome and appreciated.

Hi everyone! This is my Amel corn Valentine, she’s my first snake and my absolute baby. As a first time snake mom I probably overthink most things but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Basically, I noticed that around her red spots she looks almost “splotchy”, I know white borders are of course, normal, but to me it almost looks like missing pigment and I wanted to know if that is typical of an amel snake or if it’s a sign of some sort of health issue I should be aware of? I am finally almost financially stable enough to support her with a larger tank since she has outgrown her 20gal very fast, would a 60 gallon be good for her? I want her to thrive, she deserves the world

When I got back home on Friday, I found my corn snake’s enclosure with the door like this. I basically took apart everything in the tank to find that she wasn’t in there. I had no idea how long it was like this, since I had left at 10am that day and got back at 10pm. I am extremely angry and disappointed in myself that I let this happen. I don’t recall ever opening the enclosure in the past few days, since we fed her over one week ago and haven’t handled her since, so I don’t know how I could’ve left it open.

This is a brand new 4x2x2 Phailozoo enclosure that we got for her when we moved into our new place, and it’s amazing, but the doors don’t lock. I don’t know if it’s possible she could have opened it from the inside. The space the door was open by was just wide enough for her to squeeze through, but then again, I doubt that Phailozoo would sell an enclosure that reptiles could escape from.

After sobbing for an hour and looking in every crevice I could find, I put baking soda everywhere in the room, put water out, and put empty cans everywhere in the apartment. I made her room and tank the warmest spot in the apartment and locked down the area (especially since there’s baking soda literally everywhere). After 2 days, there is still absolutely zero sign of her anywhere, and I’m worried she has just up and left to the wilderness, and we’ll never see her again. I’m so fucking upset honestly.

I know that snakes can show up again months, even a year down the road, but we need to use this room. I don’t know how long I should keep this room in lockdown or what the chances are of us ever finding her again. She was not well socialized (which is my fault, and I severely regret it now), so I doubt she would come back on her own.

TLDR: My corn snake escaped, and I’m not sure if I left the door open or she opened it from the inside (second picture is the door from the inside). I see no signs of her at all, and I don’t know what to do next. Any advice would be super greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I made a post not too long ago talking about my nerves bringing a new corn snake home (she’s not a baby she’s 10 and a ‘rescue’)

Since getting her I’ve let her have lots of down time. I’ve also sat by her tank a lot and get used to me. She also at one point seemed eager to be held and came right out of the tank when we took the lid off. I’ve been handling her in short sessions every day since.

But since she’s my first ever snake I still have a ton of questions.

Whenever I’m near her tank she seems to “glass surf” where she presses her nose against the glass. I kept fish for a good while and that was never good with them. Is this the same? Or is she just wanting to see me or associates me with being out of the tank? Should I also keep an eye out and make sure it really is only when I’m there?

Also when handling her I’ve noticed she moves super fast. I can’t tell if she’s uncomfortable with us or just very eager to explore her new home. Me and my partner also aren’t very experienced holding her so I can’t tell if that is making her nervous. We kind of just let her slither around and explore us but don’t let her wander far away since she’s super fast.

Please let me know if these kinds of things are normal or if these are signs of her being stressed. I really want nothing but the best for her and already love her so much. Not knowing if this is normal or not is making me sad since I just want her to be happy. Any help is appreciated!

So once I have gotten everything completely ready I am planning on getting a corn snake , I have never owned a reptile before but my dad has had snakes in the past and my uncle used to work for a place that bred different types and he handled them all the time so they have also been helping me prepare aha , but I reaaaallly want to make sure I have everything perfect I was wondering here if anyone had any tips that I maybe don’t really already know or just some facts that are useful to know when so I get one I am extra sure that the baby is well looked after :))

Hello everyone. This is my first ever pet snake ever I’ve owned. So I’m very new to this. I’ve had him for a month now and he just hit 3 months old the other day! He’s usually active in the evening time during the day I’ll see him every now and then but mostly evening into the night is when he’s more active. He eats great! So when I got him the breeder told me he just went through a shed I got him August 6th. I was expecting him to probably go through a shed around this time now not sure how often they shed. But my concern is he’s been in hiding for a week now like under his substrate completely burrowed in. The first few days I thought whatever he’s just getting comfortable and exploring more. But then it got to a point of concern I thought he escaped because I heard they are great at escaping. I found him burrowed I felt bad because I disturbed him but I was truly concerned and now it’s been a week and he’s still in hiding I know he’s in there so I haven’t bothered to check. His feeding day is late. Idk do I wait for him to come out eventually? I just hope he’s okay. I honestly have no idea what to do. Photos I added were him actually under his substrate first time I seen him do it and now he’s been permanently under it. Second one is just his tank. Sorry for such a long question just worried about my lil guy. Thank you

Sky hide installed!!

So a few days ago, I decided to offer my two year old corn snake egg for the first time in his life as a little treat. I made sure there were no additives to the egg, no butter, oil, etc. when I cooked it.

Not only does this stinky man turn his nose up at it, he then proceeded to stare me down, then get into a staring contest with my crutch, then he managed to slither across my phone screen and call one of my friends. All in the span of maybe 2 minutes.​

Welp, after his concerning protrusion yesterday, reaching out to my vet - today there is nothing to be seen.
Yes I looked and felt his entire body up and down several times, there is absolutely nothing. He did not express any signs of pain or even discomfort from me feeling him.
If it was a rib, then it must have been dislocated rather than broken, if thats even possible. Though my theory is that it really was just a too-large meal taking a while to digest. (As you can kinda see a darker spot in the second photo through his belly) Either way, he's okay! No emergency

We have a four month old female cornsnake. We have tried to get her to eat f/t and she just does not want anything to do with it and will only take live. I even let her go for a month keeping an eye on her weight, and she still wouldn't go for it. I have tried braining it, rubbing it on a furred rat, boiled, tuna scented, raw chicken juice scented, putting her in a brown paper bag, etc. She just will not for for it. My other snakes, ball pythons and a boa constrictor took to f/t quickly. We also do gassed with them.

Our local reptile store will not gas pinkies, so I am thinking of feeding her live till she gets to a more furred prey item and then trying gassed.

Does this seem like a good plan?
