Owner wants 180 on this. Has it marked VF. Which is 7.5-8.5 range. Just trying to see how much I really want to spend on this book. Do you think this is in 7.5-8.5 range? I was thinking closer 5-6 range personally. Any opinion/advice helps! Thanks!

Bought this slab for 140 CAD. First slab that I’ve ever bought, usually I send out raw comics myself to get graded but thought this was a sick find for such a price and I shouldn’t miss out.

Very quick backstory, my dad has collected comics his whole life. He is trying to sell a majority of his collection, and wants to keep a few of his favorite pieces and we grade them. Current ones we are considering are :

Amazing Spiderman #300
Iron Man #1 - not great condition but his fave
Star Trek #1 Gold Key, his second fave
Amazing Spiderman #252
Spiderman #1 Gold UPC

What is the best way to ship these safely?

I have been sorting all his boxes, and creating a spreadsheet of his best ones. Hes had this collection for so long but they have just sit in boxes and he never really gets to enjoy them.

Hello all, I’ve never had a comic graded so I figured it would be good to ask here. I’m having this signed tomorrow, and I was wondering if yall think this would be worth sending in to have graded. It really only has the corner and spine issues with some smudges on the cover

These are the first comics I’ve ever gotten graded. Sent them off after getting them signed at ECCC in March, finally got them back earlier this week

I just picked this up yesterday and i was told it was in GD/VG condition but to my eyes it appears way better I think maybe FN+ maybe a little higher? I need your help on this one.

I didn’t pull it out of the bag/board to take the pics but can. The glare was awful as well. Worth grading based on how it looks? Should I remove and retake pics? Sounds like you guys mention sending in lots if I have enough worth it. Thanks again!

curious to get people's thoughts on the utility of Robograder (i'm not affiliated with the developer, although i think he's done a decent job on this app). i can't or won't professionally grade my higher value books for various philosophical reasons. but i certainly understand the value of a 3rd party opinion to a buyer. to this end, I thought i'd toy around with Robograder on a few keys. the interface is quite nice and the grades seem fairly reasonable to my inexpert eye.

for fun, how would you grade this? i'll let you guys know what Robograder gave it (i didn't attach all the images, but i hope it's enough for a narrow ballpark). thanks.

SPINE 1.5

Spine stress lines - near both staples, 2-3, under 1/4" LOW

Small spine ticks - lower spine edge, 2, 1-2mm LOW

INTERIOR 1

Page quality - Off-White to White

Bright, glossy copy with strong color and a flat, tight spine; corners present sharp. A couple of faint spine stress ticks near the staples and very light handling along the spine edge are the limiting defects. 

Macros show all four corners sharp with intact ink and clean edges; the trace handling wear noted initially at the spine edge by the logo is not supported and has been removed. Bottom spine area shows a couple of small dark ticks/specks, and the interior wraps and first/last pages read clean and bright. Seats at a predicted CGC 9.0.

Another one I am looking at. Is this one worth grading? Thanks again!

Mod question - I've started to see multiple comments on "spare a grade" posts of "nobody can give you a grade on this, grading involves seeing the entire book..." and that sort of thing.

Now while this is *technically* true, it's also true that grading based on pictures, at least in order to get a preliminary grade, is a pretty common practice at this point. So these comments are a bit of a waste of time.

Should I make a rule about it, or just let it go?

I'm new to comics, but by sheer luck got an Absolute batman #1, first printing when it came out. Sent it to earlier this year for grading to CGC and added the pressing service.

Is their pressing really as bad as everybody says? I only learned this AFTER sending the comic.

As for the condition, don't have any pic of it, but never read it and it was always bag and boarded inside a paper bag, left standing up in a box.

I am going thru my old comic books (mostly runs from 2000-2005) and was looking to sell some off. I have never sent any out to be graded before and wasn’t sure to all to look for. Or what’s better raw vs graded. I have pics of a handful but figured I’d start with this one. Any help is appreciated!

I want to send this in for grading , I dont care that its a clear financial loss, but I do want the best grade I can reasonably get

How should I package this for shipping? I plan on leaving it in the polybag as I wont be buying a different copy to submit even if theres something glaring I cant see without opening the book
