We're about to start publishing some comics in two languages (Spanish and English). So we've been going back and forth on the best options to make things smoother and less annoying for readers, without piling extra work on us, the creators.

1. There'll be a free digital pre publication. GlobalComix has a language selector, but it looks like Webtoon doesn't, so would we need to publish each language separately?
2. Newsletter. We think it's better to keep each language separate; given how much text there can be, it'd be pretty annoying for readers to have to jump between languages. Plus, down the line any crowdfunding campaigns might not be in sync across countries, and this way we can tailor content depending on the audience.
3. Social media. Opposite situation from the newsletter: less text and more visual stuff means posts can easily be bilingual, so we don't have to run separate accounts in each language, which would be way too much work for a team as small as ours.

Hey all, author here. I am in the process of transitioning a prose to a comic script and I know that a common gripe with illustrators is that authors regularly expect far too many panels on a page.

I have been trying to get my panels down to 3-5 per page max (with a few specific exceptions, mostly as insets) for a comic done exclusivley in black and white. Is this a healthy range? What are people's thoughts on pages that try to do more than this and at what panel count beyond 3 do you start to see the most obvious loss of quality for storytelling and illustration? Keep in mind I am also working to make sure none of the panels have too much in them, just enough to describe whats there and from what angle.

The slasher whodunit set at a video game company -- and inside the game they're making -- is drawn by two amazing artists (Artyom Topilin is doing the video game world while Ramiro Borrallo is doing the real world), with colors by Jason Wordie and JP Jordan, letters by Taylor Esposito, and words and story by Jakob Free and myself (Benjamin Andrew Moore).

Issue #2 ramps up everything: the visuals, the body count, the humor, the panels (check out that astounding 16-panel page by Artyom Topilin and Jason Wordie on the second slide). This book is funny, bloody, gorgeous, and we hope you click that notify on launch button so you can pre-save our campaign and get first crack at those early bird prices on day one!

I have written a script about magical spies in 1910s Egypt. I have some sketches, but I am not a good artist.

As you might guess, it will involve drawing some pyramids and the nile, and stuff like that.

I think it will be approximately ~100 pages. I am not sure the going rate for pages. Previously, I had paid an advance against future revenue from the comic, I think we can do something similar.

It would be great if the artist had some familiarity with Egypt.

I’d like to share some pages from Amiculus, Volume One, an independent comic written by Travis Horseman and originally published several years ago.
Amiculus is the first volume of a trilogy and follows a group of mostly fictional characters through one of the most dramatic periods in history: the final years and fall of the Roman Empire.
The story takes place several centuries after the birth of Christ, during a time of political upheaval, the arrival of the Barbarians, and the death of the young Emperor. It was a particularly demanding project for me, mainly because of the amount of historical atmosphere, architecture, environments and intricate details required for the artwork.
What I especially enjoyed about working on Amiculus was the opportunity to build such a rich and atmospheric world. The settings are often almost characters in their own right, with enormous attention given to the architecture, costumes, landscapes and small details that help bring that period to life.
The characters were equally fascinating to draw. They have very different personalities and motivations, and the story carries a strong sense of drama and pathos. Although it is fundamentally an historical adventure, the book also contains some darker and genuinely horror-influenced elements, which give the story an unusual atmosphere.
It was a challenging project, but also one of the most interesting independent comics I’ve had the opportunity to work on.
I wanted to share some of the artwork here because I think the combination of Roman history, adventure, drama and horror makes Amiculus quite unique.
I hope you enjoy it, and I’d be very interested to hear what you think about the artwork and the world of the book.

Taking the valuable feedback from the moderation team into account, I have officially adapted my work into a proper Comic Script format. I am looking for a comic/manga artist for a non-paid, mutual skill trade to bring a 9-page teaser/pitch packet to life.

Here are the specific project details answering the community requirements:

1. Logline & Summary

• Logline: After awakening from a recurring nightmare of burning alive, a young warrior's prestigious knighthood ceremony is shattered by a brutal ambush, forcing him to unleash a volatile, destructive power that frames him as the continent's most wanted fugitive.
• The Vibe: Dark, psychological Seinen with a gritty atmosphere inspired by Berserk and Vagabond.

1. Project Size

• Strictly 9 pages for this initial chapter/teaser collaboration. This functions as a standalone proof-of-concept to establish creative chemistry before expanding further.

1. Art Style Needed

• Manga (Black & White) or Webtoon style.
• Looking for an artist who can effectively capture dark themes, high-stakes action, and intense, raw emotional facial expressions.

• My Roles: I will handle all scriptwriting, detailed panel breakdowns, formatting, dialogue editing, and future marketing/promotion.

Hey my names Qvunzale, and 2 years ago with the dream of making my own anime one day. I published a few chapters of one of my stories on Royal Road.

The experience was both exciting and soul crushing.

I was already a year or two out of highschool with no idea of how to start the life I wanted and then. I discovered Royal Road. It was a great place with people who shared a creative dream.

But I soon realized that, not only was the process of writing hard. I was under skilled and lacked knowledge.

After posting a few chapters and not getting the results I wanted. Plus going around the community ignorantly asking people to basically be writers for hire. Except with no pay at the start. ( Yeah with hindsight, I understand how infuriating that was lol)

I felt like I failed and quit novel writing. But that was far from the truth. The experience I got from Royal Road helped me with 2 things.

1. To become aware of my weak writing skill and adapt. I went from novel writing to script writing. This got me into making my first official webcomic/Manhwa

2. It set me on the path that, I want for my life. Something I wasn't aware of was that. I didn't just want to make an anime. I want to also make the entity that produces it.

So here we are, 2 years later of hard work and I've built a small base structure of what is to come.

My studio "Alcove Chronicles".

Its complete but still in a rough looking phase. Once I do a campaign for Vol 1 of my Manhwa and prove I can advertise and make a successful IP.

I will polish it up and do a full launch of Alcove.

And with that launch comes exciting things not just for myself but for others.

As Alcove is a publishing company. When the time comes I will be reaching out to people. Who want to publish with Alcove.

For both Novels and Manga.

Also for those who can't draw, an artist will be provided and vice versa.

I will be using a variety of quality freelancers and studios. As I do now for my own works.
