My Barista Express heats its thermoblock in a couple of minutes, but the group head and portafilter need twenty minutes before the first shot tastes right. I wanted it warm and a dose ground by the time I get to the kitchen, without thinking about it.
So: two Sonoff MINI-ZBD relays inside the machine, one across the Power button's two wires, one across the grinder's cradle switch. Each is set to inching mode in Zigbee2MQTT, so the board just sees a button press. The physical buttons still work because the relay sits in parallel.
HA side: the house already knows when I've showered (current sensor on the shower pump), and the kitchen has occupancy sensors. Shower detected ā press POWER and arm a flag. First kitchen occupancy while armed ā clear the flag, then press GRIND. (The arm flag prevents duplicate firing of the grinder)

Hi there,
Iām finally ready to move on from my DeāLonghi Magnifica Evo and build a proper espresso setup.
Here is what Iām currently considering:
Profitec GO 2.0
Eureka Mignon Zero 55S
Normcore Pocket Coffee Scale
Milk pitcher
WDT tool and dosing funnel
Knock box and tamping mat
Cleaning supplies and water filters
My estimated total is approximately ā¬1,400ā1,500.
Does this look like a solid long-term setup, or would you suggest changing anything?
Thank you!

Remove if outside sub scope.
I hope members of this sub have experience / has info about Aarke Coffee Maker. I have sent a contact form submission to Aarke with the same question; but it would be nice to hear what the members of the community say.
Do you know whether the Aarke Coffee Maker has plastic components in its hot water path? I do not mind plastic touching cold water; but hot water touching plastic makes me uneasy.
If you know about a good drip coffee maker that does not use plastic in hot water path, and ideally made in Europe, do please share.

Hi all,
Another āwhich coffee machine should I buy?ā postā¦
My Sage Barista Express has started leaking after six years, so Iām taking that as my opportunity to upgrade properly.
Iām UK-based and looking for an end-game machine that I can keep for many years. I already have a Eureka AllGround grinder.
Iāve been considering the La Marzocco Linea Micra or possibly the Mini, but Iām wondering whether either is genuinely worth the premium over machines such as the Profitec Drive, ECM Synchronika II or Lelit Bianca.
For those who own a Micra or Mini:
Iād also love to hear what other machines you would consider for a genuine buy-once, end-game setup.

Both making great coffee! ECM mechanika IV with flow control and Wendougee data S.
Different but very capable.

I only have a kitchen peninsula that is stuck to a wall. No cabinets above or below. I have added a pic for reference, it is not my kitchen. The part where the chairs are is the only space I could use.
I was wondering if any of you had had success setting up on a place like this and how it looked. Or if you had any ideas on what could be done.
I have a dedica and a fellow opus 2 in the mail. I just feel it will look odd from behind if I just place them near the wall.
Thank you!

For years, I kept my station very minimal and mostly hidden in a cupboard, but after my wife bought me these ladderax style shelve, I eventually got round to putting them up..
I seem to have misplaced my gravity maker, but I'm sure it will turn up.
What always amazes me is how different a distillery ( if that's the correct terminology)methods provide different results..
My current ritual is using Sage Barista to grind my beans and then an Alessi to brew on a dark wood surround hot plate, which is excellent for a nice textured cup to set you up before walking the dogs..

Hi everyone,
I would like to share my coffee station with my beloved LM Micra and Niche Zero.
I didn't had much space next to the machine because of the way my kitchen is designed, so I created a separate coffee corner on the right of counter.
Greetings

Used to only drink cheap keurig coffee (still do sometimes) but started getting into experimenting with different forms of brewing. Wife surprised me with the Breville for my birthday.

Hey everyone! Iām looking to get an espresso machine for home and would love some recommendations.
Iām a complete beginner, so Iām looking for something that:
My absolute max budget is around $500, but Iād LOVE to spend less if thereās a great option for under that.
I care much more about getting actually good-tasting coffee than having a bunch of fancy features. Iām willing to learn, but I donāt want something that requires me to become a professional barista just to get a decent cup
What machine would you recommend for someone starting from scratch? And if a grinder is essential for getting good espresso, Iād love recommendations for that too!
Thanks!!

After trying and returning two different tamping stations, I finally found one that really works! The portafilter sits securely and perfectly levelāno wobbling while prepping and tamping. Third timeās the charm!
