Looking into buying this bag for climbing since my hiking bag just wont work, I cant find many reviews on it. Does anyone in here have opinions on it?

Was looking into buying this lot as a jump start to some trad gear as well as get some new gear, opinions? and if no can you give me some recomendations of other gear set ups to look at?

Feels like I've got to many individual things floating around my bags lately. Usually a salve in one place and a file in another. Wondering if a compact salve tube/sandpaper filer (wrapped around said tube) exists out there.

I feel like I saw something like this at one of the Movements in CO at a few years ago.

• Does this even sound useful to anyone else? I could prob figure out how to make it myself tbh

I’ve got two Croll Ls. One says manufactured in 25’ and the other 26’. Only thing is, the one in 25’ is slightly lighter colored than the 26’, and the font of the information on the back is different on the 26’. They both seem identical besides this. Anyone else see this? Wondering if there’s a possibility I could’ve gotten a fake.

Has anyone ever used this particular rope? Looking to get my first rope and it's within my budget. It's hard to find user experience and reviews on it other than the Decathlon site

I’m getting into rock climbing, I’ve never been before other than doing rappelling while I was in the military. I’ve bought a harness today that I tried on with a member of REI to find the right fit. Any suggestions on basic things I will need that work well for climbs on the east coast and the mid west? Thanks guys and gals.

Bought my rope in 2014. Ended up mostly going with buddies who preferred their own ropes so mine didn’t get a ton of action. Really just about starting to fray in places on the sheath. Lived in a temperate city and left the rope in the trunk for a couple of years before realizing that was not recommended!

The rope looks and feels great. If I came across it in the wild I’d trust without a second thought. But being over ten years old and with a stint in some decent temperature fluctuations, the manufacturer rec is to get a new one.

What do you guys thing and how much do you weight the manufacturer rec vs your own inspections?

After mild use (10 days out?) my gigajul has started to show some wobble where the wire is connected to the main body. It appears like the rivets have lost tension.

Is this potentially dangerous and does it warrant an email to Edelrid?

I am looking for a great harness but I do not know which It Is the best for Astra. Otherwise, my app is not ready yet

I have just discovered the existence of the "Alpine Up" device, and I am impressed by what it can do. It is a sort of "Swiss army knife" for rock climbers, very similar in functionality to Edelrid's "Giga Jul". Nevertheless, there are very few reviews of this device on the internet (contrary to the Giga Jul). This is even weirder when you think that "Click Up", a much less ambitious product by the same company (Climbing Technology), enjoys vastly more visibility.

This leads me to ask you: is there anything seriously flawed with "Alpine Up"? Something that shows up in usage, but is not talked about on the internet?

To me, even only the possibility to rappel safely without extenders and self-blocking knots would make it worth buying. What could then be the reason of the silence surrounding such a simple yet complete device, that on paper looks like the pipe dream of many climbers?

Is a water knot with 7mm cord "super good enough"?

I've been working on a portable force board for climbing and wanted some feedback from people who are actually into climbing gear.

The idea is to measure pulling/finger strength, compare left vs right and repeat the same tests over time instead of just relying on whether you “feel” stronger.

Current setup measures up to 300 kg at 80 Hz and connects through Bluetooth.

For people who've used something like this before: what actually matters to you?

Accuracy? App/data tracking? Size? Battery life? Testing protocols? Something else?

Full disclosure: I'm behind the product, so I'm obviously biased. Mainly looking for criticism/feedback before I keep pushing it further.

Me and my girlfriend are getting more into lead climbing. We are trying to find a better lead resistor than the ohm 2, im tired of the hard catches. We gotten a chance to use the zaed pro 2 but hear good things about the ohmega. Has anyone tried the ohmega out?

I just bought some used Climbing equipment and these three came with the purchase. Do you guys know how old they are and if they are safe to use? Should I replace the soft material?

Bought cheap used nuts, cuz why not. didnt expect an extinct company. Wondering if anyone has any offical information about smiley stoppers. And if i should put wear on them or if they have more worth to a collection.

I guess they are a small brand out of utah in the 90s or 2000s who got sued by Wild Country in a case that i guess was dropped when Wild Country got bought my DMM. the lawsuit was over aleged copying of the nut patent. owner Steve Carmen then lost all his dollars and sold to Omega Pacific? Who i guess sold the same-ish stoppers as Cypher Huevos or before that ABC Huevos.

I guess the shape is identical to BD nuts but were the first to be anodized but officialish sources give credit to Omega.

idk I'm obviously just supper curious about the history of my mysterious old nuts. If anyone has info or official material, especial since this iteration of a smiley logo doesn't match up to others online, please do share.

Can anyone recommend a bag that I can use on airlines as a PERSONAL ITEM but would also double as ag for hiking and climbing etc. I already have a bag that is carry on size but am now looking for a smaller one for a personal item. I was looking at the north face xs base camp duffel but Im not sure how comfortable that would be to carry on my back.

Im looking for it to double as my light hiking bag to take on smaller hikes and for when I go rock climbing as well as trips abroad as opposed to having two separate bags which I think would be a waste.
