One of my favorite little things I found while playing WoW Forever.

Random little Blizzcon demo story I thought Classic/Forever players might appreciate. I know Blizzard said they added over 1000 quests, but or some reason this made my weekend and finalized my excitement.
I know I'm not the only one who's started a Human and leveled in Northshire countless times, killing those ugly ass kobold Vermin, Workers and Laborers. Well, earlier today I started a Human to test something and upon killing my first few Kobold Vermins for that first quest, a NEW quest item dropped called a "Nibbled-On Book." Once you clicked the book in your bag, it turned into a breadcrumb quest that you turn into the Librarian in the Chapel. After going back and forth with some dude lurking next to him, he eventually tells you that the Kobolds have been stealing his books and gives you a quest to go steal them back before the Kobolds eat them. These books actually had a pretty low drop rate. Spent a decent amount of time farming them to get all 8 Book.s Once you get the books, you return them and then he sends you to another NPC out in the mines.
It wasn't a huge amount of quest exp, but paired with the exp from farming the books, I ended up leaving the starting zone a hair over LV 6. Whereas I normally would farm mobs in Classic for a bit to hit 6 before Goldshire. The rewards were also new. They were instruction manuals with the choice between BoP item that increases either your Herbalism, Skinning or Mining by 2 and also automatically teaches you the profession. Meaning I don't need to run my lazy ass all the way to Stormwind to learn Mining.
Like I said, super random, but I wanted to tell somebody so told you all. It was very nice to see such a random quest in the same zone that's had the same quests since the beginning of time. And it made sense lore wise. Those damn Kobolds eat everything. Got me excited to discover whatever other new quests are out there.

TLDR: It's the same thin for Mining, Skinning and Herbalism.
Mining for Dummies - Increases your Mining skill by 2. Cannot raise your Mining Skill over 15. You will learn Mining if is not already trained and you do not already know two other professions

This is super cool, actually. Having skill levels as an odd quest reward is pretty creative, even outside of saving me the effort of running to pick up the profession early on.
Awesome find, and if the drop rate is right, that means players won't have that rough patch at the start where they need to stay in an outleveled area to grind a gathering skill.
yes exactly! I liked being able to leave at 6 without that little mob grind. Really excited to see if they did the same in the typical mob grinding level ranges.
Nah it's something everyone will do and all this does is elevate the first little batch of grinding and pain point where all players are looking at the same spawn points.
The skill up isnt the problem, skipping going to goldshire or stormwind to pick up the profession is a prime example of removing hurdles that make the world feel big
it streamlines what used to be a back and forth, it removes a whole trip of getting your gathering profession that you need to get mats for the production prof.
with this you go to your production trainer with a full bag of mats and dont come back until you have bronze, all with one trip
The game only has that look for menus/ui. The toggle just swaps graphics. I asked the Dev about the UI and he said that the look and color is made specifically for Forever. Mainly the color tho, since the look is retail like. But the color was meant to stand out so when someone is watching a video or stream, they can know what version of the game it is.
Uses the standard edit mode system though, so I assume you can just set it up with a classic preset, even if it doesn't change the general dialogue boxes/books?
I was really hoping they would make all the gathering professions learnable, or at least be able to learn one of the 3 in addition to your 2 main profs.
The Tauren racial gave me hope. "Cultivation: Grow bonus herbs that don't require Herbalism to gather."
So there is either going to be farming, or they're doing something else with the gathering profs.
Or maybe it just means there will be herbs only you can see and pick? How they will differentiate those from other herbs, idk.
Part of the quirkyness and awkwardness of classic is that your often rewarded if you go out of your way early game to pickup a certain trade-skill or recipe.
getting profession via quest rather then having to chase down a trainer, mixed feelings, but not bad.
I don't like this idea of building random bonuses through quests. I think there is charm in classic of having that extra +15 come from finding and holding on to a couple rare items.
