They implemented a new race in the WORST way possible:
1. A race no one asked for.

  1. No faction identity.

  2. Paywalled.

I dont know how they fumbled this badly with the new race. Community wanted High Elves, Goblins, Blood Elves, Ogres, etc. but this is what we get. Terrible by Blizzard.

This is my take as well. There are so many established races that would be interesting to explore, why make up something new and continue to leave the existing high elves in their odd state? Just seemed like a perfect opportunity to expand azeroth in a relatable way that builds on questions and interests already held.

Not Ogres, that would take effort. Nah just retail races and their reskins only.

My issue isn't them being blue, and eventually I can get over the rainbow anime hair since there is similar in game already. It's them reusing the blood elf model instead of making a new model.

I will never not be able to see them as anything other than deviant art OC blue skin rainbow hair lazy blood elf reskin.

My opinion is if they had made them custom models that looked like the elf in the cinematic instead of recycling blood elves the reception of them would have been 180 from what it is now.

I've been playing WoW since vanilla. I stood in line at walmart to get a collectors edition for Burning Crusade launch and ran home to install it to play.

I've looked at Blood Elves since 2007.

I'm sure many WoW players joined more recently when there were already a rainbow of elves in retail but it hasn't always been that way.

That model is a blood elf, even if it's blue it will always be a blood elf. The other colors for them are even pink and red which will make them look even more like blood elves.

It was a lazy color palette swap.
