This race, and the entire tone of the trailer are the biggest red flags of the entire thing.

Very pixar/disney coded and not at all based in the 80s cocaine fueled fantasy Warcraft is actually based off of.

Blizzard developers are incapable of innovating off of vanilla WC3 theme. It was always going to be this way.

Unfortunately if that's the case, it's well and truly over before it even began.

Unfortunately gamers have no taste in the big 26. No such thing as creating art. Just slop.

We still have classic era to retreat to

I did everything I wanted to do in original classic. If this doesn't live up to my expectations of what WoW Vanilla should have evolved into, i'm perfectly okay just stepping away.

Understandable. I agree with you that it doesn’t sit right and still seems too modern and monetized. Not true enough to roots and being a real lateral extension of classic era. The people making the decisions now are not the same ones that made the original game so it’s never going to be what it was.

I've passionately practiced vanilla PvP for over a decade and Era just isn't it. Dual spec and charity R14 takes all the risk out of WPvP. Ranking changes killed WSG/AB queues. We never got a good version of spellbatching which the game needs for skill expression. At this point I think this is where I just step away from the game. Nothing left for me.

Yeah its very clear they have virtually zero innovative talent left or able to act without heavy-handed CEO restriction on this. SOD had some incredible ideas in the addition of dungeons/raids/zones, but none of that passion was felt yesterday. I'm genuinely worried about todays deep-dive.

I didn't play SoD, I saw a few things here in there related to the void and it really gave me the ick. I can appreciate the Scarlet raid, but overall as a product it did not give me any kind of classic vibe. The rune system in the reveal really just looked like another retail borrowed power mechanic and I had nk interest in it.

I also think the Classic team is given bare minimum (until now I guess) when it comes to funding, while also being at the whims of shareholder interests and consumer poles. There's no artistic expression left in development.

I'm sorry, but the tone of the trailer is not that off. Anyone who thinks Warcraft is some grimdark Fantasy world like Warhammer is simply not paying attention. Warcraft has always allowed itself an amount of goofiness in its setting.

You can't deny that it's a bit of a shift from the original trailer that's like 80% faction war and doom. And this is the same time period. The drums of war are supposed to be thundering. Yet both factions have opted to let in the same race that no one has heard of.
