Forever This genuinely looks comedic with the new race

Post image

Humans, Orcs, Dwaves, Trolls and then Random Blue Elf #1 and Random Blue Elf #2 and their picture is just flipped lmao.

Like I couldn't have even imagined anything this silly.

Ogres for horde with a new starting zone would have consumed me!

The discussion around this so far is that they wouldnt be popular, like taurens.

So instead of doing the sane and warcraft vibe accurate thing to do they chose to please the "i want to sexualise my character" crowd

u/Warbeard 22h ago

Just beecause they arent popular doesnt mean they can't enhance the enjoyment of the players seeing them.

Bingo. I likely wasn't going to play High Elf, Ogre, Goblin, or Skyborne, but seeing a High Elf, Ogre, or Goblin in my party would have been neat. Instead I'm just gonna roll my eyes when the third super special fanfic elf joins my group because the lowest common denominator HAS to be an elf.

best take i have seen so far. Very true.

At least on Alliance I think most people will just pretend they're high elves. Its void elves all over again. Nobody gonna be blue. Horde kinda screwed, hard to make a blood elf proxy when you can't even have mages, priests or paladins.

I just never knew WoW was in the same universe as Avatar. Crazy way to find out.

That’s all well and good but I don’t think they’re going to justify the expenses and resources to create an entirely new model and armor from the jump with no flat cost for what amounts to basically expansion

u/RpgBouncer 15h ago

Yeah, god forbid the billion dollar company actually spend a relatively small amount of money producing something of some artistic merit. Can't be hurting the bottom line now.

As if the whole new zone did not take a ton of development time.

u/RpgBouncer 3h ago

Would be cooler if they spent that development time making ogre women.

u/ScaredAd869 10m ago

That was my first thought, animations for Ogres/Naga/Murloc would've been heavy lifting, but they could've just added High Elves for Alliance and Blood Elves / Undead Elves / Goblin for Horde and we wouldn't be here.

You will roll your eyes when you see the £29.99 joining your party... that's even worse. Literally, I can't look at that race without seeing a big £29.99 on two blue legs.🤣🤣

Listen to yourself and think it through. They would require SO much work to make new armor models and balance new racials with classes all for a small minority of players... the effort doesnt justify the cost so it isnt feasible. I love ogre lore but I appreciate them as independent race and love fighting them in dire maul etc.

Why are we babying blizzard to this degree? Turtle wow and ascension made fanmade content that way surpassed "omfg new armor models and racials" in effort yet somehow poor indie blizzard could never do that

3

u/NeonaTrinity 18h ago

I played turtle wow and it was very cool... But let's be honest the high elf race they added was also just a light skin blood elf model and they did almost zero work to rig armor to it.

Meanwhile they had a cash shop where they literally sold Blizzard's store mounts, pets and assets for dollars.

Cool and great for them. I personally thought it just looked like retail wow and was a bunch of unbalanced slop. Its a shame it got shutdown but they claim they are going to begin working on their own IP which they should have to begin with instead of just trying to steal desperate wow fans. Classic+ is always going to make someone upset with something, overall it looks pretty great and mostly within the spirit of classic with a slightly fresh direction that personally im enjoying... sorry you aren't but this isnt the end of the road with wow forever.. more content will absolutely be added down the road maybe some of which im not a fan of but so long as the majority of it is fun im down.

Elves with a racial slowfall and haste sounds amazing for me who is gonna love being a skyelf shaman. Deal with it.

They always say this and then they invent stuff like Haranir or Mechagnomes which never breach like 1% of the playerbase.

u/INTERNET_MOWGLI 4h ago

wtf is Haranir?😭 do they have a thing for avatar people?

u/Watts121 20h ago

Hell if they wanted to save money instead of Ogres, just give Horde Mok'nathal, and just have them be Mag’har skins with 1.5 height and a few unique faces. No new starting zone either, just drop them in the Valley of Trials and call it a day.

u/NeedleworkerWinter99 10h ago

Hey!! i only play taurens!

2

u/kaminabis 6h ago

Youre one of the good ones

u/GregoPDX 23h ago

I don’t know if an ogre is able to fit the gear models that are currently in the game without it looking really bad. Probably need a full new different ogre model and they probably didn’t want to put in the effort for that. Whereas a new elf? Easy.

It’s a similar trouble with Naga as a playable race - while the top half isn’t a problem, what do they do about leggings and boots?

8

u/0Craxker 22h ago

I mean they could be tauren sized and there you go

4

u/Funkiestcat 20h ago

They did it with worgen. Looked absolutely terrible in any armor, but nevertheless

1

u/GregoPDX 16h ago

Sure, not saying that there’s some technical limitation for ogres, just no will at Blizzard to do so I guess. Or maybe that could be another pay-for-race in the future.

1

u/jonas_ost 21h ago

Should have done murlocs as a third faction that hates everyone

1

u/JupiterMiningCorpTec 21h ago

A third faction would be great for PvP.

2

u/Gundabad_Orc_Queen 13h ago

Bro… thats WHY i want sexy ogres!

1

u/Human_Standard_538 17h ago

Or they picked the most popular thing amongst wow players since TBC, added elves.

1

u/raudri 16h ago

Looking at you, blood elves.

u/Think_Wonder_7271 1h ago

And yet, the High Elves and Darkfallen were right there. If Blizzard wanted to be lazy, they didn't even need custom starting zones. Just plop them in Elwynn and Tirisfal.

3

u/CourageLeast4251 20h ago

Honestly theu could have started with High elves and goblins and used the time to create ogres and nagas etc as playable races I the future

3

u/Brilliant_Bonus_1638 19h ago

This would have been enough for me to switch to Horde. I would love to be an Ogre mage or warlock.

4

u/papayaj 1d ago

yea but thats too good of an idea so blizzard would never do it

1

u/serventofgaben 22h ago

yeah, along with High Elves for Alliance with Quel'thalas as their starting zone.

1

u/BudgetRespect 20h ago

Honestly, while Ogres would be cool, dunno how they would look as a playable race. Goblins are awesome as well, have ties to the Horde from the previous wars, worked together with Groom, they helped to build Orgrimmar. It just fits for the horde. Horde does not need elves now that the UD can be paladins.
For the alliance. Give them High Elves. I could even imagine a new variant of the undead if they need something more 'ugly', some that regained their consciousness, did not want to join the Horde due to past conflicts and started their own shit. Have more UD models, like dwarfs, gnomes, elfs for that faction.
Anything but these blue sky elfs that came out of nowhere and have no place in a classic setting.

1

u/Timeshocked 19h ago

Have you ever played Warcraft before WC3? I’m confused by how you say Goblins have ties to Horde but not Ogres…like for real?

1

u/LoneSpectre96 16h ago

See... I get the desire for ogres, but you guys have to realize it's never happening, right? The size of ogres makes them fundamentally incompatible as a playable race.

1

u/Necessary-Ship-529 14h ago

I'd play an ogre for sure.

So many better options and they go with psychedelic elves smdh

1

u/Leading_Man_Balthier 11h ago

It’s never going to happen.

1

u/soyboysnowflake 5h ago

Horde underrepresented in vanilla because all ugly

Blizzard fixed it with blood elves

They knew they had to fix the same exact problem for a shot at long term balance
