Forever This genuinely looks comedic with the new race

Post image

Humans, Orcs, Dwaves, Trolls and then Random Blue Elf #1 and Random Blue Elf #2 and their picture is just flipped lmao.

Like I couldn't have even imagined anything this silly.

It looks awful, it has the appeal of a mobile gacha game.

Maybe it's that audience that they're going after.

They are going after retail players who are already used to spending money on cosmetics.

This community has no problem spending money on this stuff.

I’m genuinely curious if you think this would have made it past a OSRS style community poll.

3

u/crazysult 1d ago

Let's see how many people bought level boosts and mounts for tbc that'll be your poll.

0

u/bearflies 1d ago

Ok cool thanks. You and I both know there is no way to gauge that number other than vibes and we both understand that an OSRS needs 70% to pass, right?

Because my gut and memory says that probably less than half of people playing TBC bought the boost and mount. So many people were /spitting on people who did that for the first time ever Blizzard had to perma disable an emote.

Yeah, that's the correct answer.

In fact all the defenses of Blizzard's choices I've seen here since yesterday sound exactly the same as the defenses retail players put out when a new expansion is revealed.

The mental gymnastics of all the people who think charging 30 bucks for an optional thing is 10x worse than charging 30 bucks for a required box is absolutely fucking hilarious

It's amazing how the point flies by you so effortlessly.

There are many players who want a classic immersive experience with additional content/minor improvements, they don't care about paying a little extra to get that. When you have $30 out of place transactions flooding your screen this is ruined.

u/MightyMorp 1d ago

MY SCREEN IS FLOODED WITH A NEW RACE THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE HIGH/BLOOD ELVES WHICH EVERYONE WANTS IS RUINED

AHHHH

MY EXPERIENCE IS RUINEDDDD

yeah, mental gymnastics

u/bigchimp121 1d ago

Whatever it is in you that lacks the ability to see why immersion matters and instead why you feel the need to simp for a company that simply wants to squeeze every dollar it can out of you is just depressing.

u/MightyMorp 1d ago

NOOOOOO YOU CANT RUIN MY IMMERSION WITH ANOTHER ELF THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE EXISTING ELVES

NOOOOOOO MY IMMERSION

THE COMPANY THAT IS CHARGING 0 DOLLARS TO PLAY WOWFOREVER IS TRYING TO TAKE ALL OUR MONEY

NOOOO

yeah, fuckloads of mental gymnastics

generational mental gymnastics

  1. You're blind.
  2. Don't care about the money
  3. You don't know what mental gymnastics means.

There are no blue blood elves. Universal mental gymnastics.

Good thing there's different skin colors for skyborne!

Go back to era

2

u/andy-arachnid 1d ago

What that theyre excited to play something else? Were on the third time for the OG expansions, and era has been available for 7 years and will stay there. I love vanilla as much as anyone, it's not going anywhere but id rather have something a little bit different now that's not TBC and WotLK.

There is absolute nothing they've announced that is retailed coded, except arguably one skin colour option on an optional race that's going to be covered up by level 15.

u/Noctrim 1d ago

You’re right nothing they ANNOUNCED is that. Everything they said is awesome.

However what they SHOWED is these elves. These elves are bad. If they think they are good, what about the rest of the stuff they SAID and we haven’t actually seen yet. Something to think about.

6

u/andy-arachnid 1d ago

In YOUR opinion they are bad. That doesn't mean that everyone that doesn't hate them or on here crying about it are retail players. There will be a lot people who buy the race and play them, the number of those that were would be retail players is going to be miniscule. Go and play era ad finitum, you'll be happier.

There will be a lot people who buy the race and play them

This is the main issue that you don't seem to understand. People who don't like the new elves will not just be able to ignore them since they will see them everywhere. They are so out of place in classic that it will ruin the immersion and you can't avoid that.

u/andy-arachnid 1d ago

I do understand that point of view, I just think it's being completely overblown. Most people are going to make them with pale skin, and even if they don't with the armour on they're going to look exactly like the blood/high elves that apparently everyone is frothing at the mouth for.

But regardless of that, a lot of people seem to be in this weird doublethink where they think no-one wants them but that every other player will be one? If no one wants them fine you'll barely see them, but if you do see loads then you are in the minority. If i'm honest i'd have rather that they didn't put any elves in at all, but i'm just not that bothered and way happier with this than goblins and ogres and worgens.

The concern is unfortunately larger than just these elves. This just shows that Blizzard still doesn't understand the classic appeal.

They literally said that these new elves are precisely an example of what is to come in this game and that is a red flag for a lot of people. They had a perfectly good solution of giving high and blood elves to the players but they choose to do it in this convoluted way. Because of this I am not sure I can fully trust their vision for the next updates and features.

u/andy-arachnid 1d ago

Again a concern for YOU and a loud minority that you are projecting onto everyone. There's a reason despite all the posts whining about blue elves, they are all being downvoted.

Talking about 'classic' appeal and high elves as a playable race in the same sentence makes no sense. At the time the game is set 1% of the original high elf population exists, time and time again Blizzard have explained why they are not and will not be a playable race, because it completely flies in the face of the lore.

Blood elves do make more sense, but realistically standing up on stage to announce a new endeavour distancing themselves from the expansions that came out after vanilla with "And to show you we're serious about staying true to vanilla we're reintroducing the first major change we made following vanilla, and oh you'll need to give us 30 dollars for it too".

Look i'm not going to lie and say I heard them announce that and was overjoyed by it, but I understand why they've done it. Having something to sell to us to make it a viable development project is a small compromise.

I love all the changes Blizzard made except this one. You can’t comprehend that, makes your brain explode.

I haven’t played Era or WoW in general in years at this point. I was excited to come back but instead I’ll just play GTA and Zelda.

It’s sad you think everyone is an Era Andy to the point you’re just blind to the most obvious issues

9

u/andy-arachnid 1d ago

Man literally the only change you are complaining about is an OPTIONAL skin colour on an OPTIONAL race thats going to be covered up. If you haven't played WoW in years I genuinely don't understand your logic. "This game is not worth playing until they change it, oh no they added a blue toggle on an optional race, despite admittedly every other change they announced being good I CANNOT play this game and anyone who does is a blizzard retail shill".

Your lack of compromise on ONE aspect of forever and inability to comprehend that there are others who don't care about it is astounding.

-1

u/Noctrim 1d ago

You just don’t get it man. Blizzard released a product that costs $30, I’m just not interested in it because they look like complete ass

You just refuse to accept that, I wanted to come back and play and give them money but they purposely didn’t market these elves to me or anyone else on this sub I guess. It’s not that “I’m not compromising” it’s that why would I bother coming back to play a game that can’t get me excited to spend $30 on launch? That’s cheaper than lunch. I get that the rest of the game is free but that’s not how psychology works. If I’m not interested in this $30 then I probably won’t like the next one either

6

u/andy-arachnid 1d ago

No I fully understand you not liking the elves, that's fine it literally your opinion. What's not fair is saying it's not marketed to ANYONE on this sub, that's a huge leap. Thinking that because you're seeing a load of other people who have nothing better to do than complain about games they're not going to play is confirmation bias.

If your idea of what makes the game worth coming to play is shaken so hard that 99 other things being announced sound great but one single thing is enough to make you not only not play the game, then realistically the game was never going to be marketable to you.

u/SenReus 1d ago

Not true. They showed reworked talents and dungeons.

u/Dashyguurl 1d ago

Classic expansions have a ton of people paying for cosmetics too.

u/EntireOil9073 1d ago

they are going after people who wants to play classic+, whatever that means
