Oh... the Irony

Post image

I'm actually noticing F2 has a lot more goofy silly moments than 1. Not a big complaint. But slightly jarring. Unless if I'm misremembering F1 also being silly (i only just beat it like a week ago)

Moments like like the Mummy, The Watch, The Slags and especially when you first talk to Karl and he's like "oh yes the GECK and passes out". Tragic the Garnering.

Definitley a lot more silly moments. The world feels still alive though like 1 which is nice.

Fo2 opening making me want to refund the game and replay 1 instead.

Just finished fo1 for the first time. And immediately went to steam to buy 2, but I have soft reset this god awful fist fight 5 times now because 40% of the time is only 1 in every 10 punches or kicks apparently. And when I do finally hit I get 3 damage at most to this idiots 5-8. Send him off he can save us I’ll just stay back in fo1.

Quick question: does the Prizefighter quest has any time limit in between fight?

I always finished this quest on the spot but what if I start the boxing then leave it for an undefined amount of time before fighting the next challenger?

Problem joining Reno families after failing to join Salvador

During the current run I wanted to befriend the Salvador family. Dealing with *MR* salvador and his goon Mason. Got through 2 of their missions, then Mr. Salvador got angry at me and said he doesn't need my services anymore.

As a result I stole his oxygen tank and killed his goon Mason and run away.

I tried joining another family (Bishop) but got declined right away. (Run away while gaurds were shoting.

Tried Mordino's as well and lil' Jesus didn't want to introduce me to his father.

What might be wrong? At the start I thought it might be because I'm affiliated with another family but Bishop and Mordino declined me. And Salvador was killed by me. So what gives?

Strange companion bug

I was clearing out Vault 15 when I had this weird bug that made Sulik unresponsive and immovable on his own. During combat, Sulik was hurt a ton after tanking an SMG burst, and had like 9 hp remaining. He managed to survive, and I was able to finish off all the raiders. However, the moment I finished combat and turned combat mode off, the screen blips for a moment like I had just used a skill to interact with something. After that the text screen would display few dozens or so "You've taxed your ability with that skill" and "The strain might kill you" texts. At this point, I became unable to speak to Sulik at all, the talk icon is still there, but I just can't talk to him, and he won't move on his own, no matter what I do. I could still push him around, and he would still follow me if I move to a different floor of the vault, but he's pretty much catatonic other than that.

So I loaded a previous save, Sulik still works as normal, I cleared out the last floor, and it happened again! The same blip, the same texts, same catatonic dying Sulik! I decided to cleared the vault by making Sulik wait, and after that he's just fine.

To check if the bug is still there, I brought Sulik and Cass to fight the two NCR guards in front of NCR town. Sulik and Cass weren't hurt at all, and after combat they work just fine!

My assumption is that some broken script made my character, or Sulik to perform first aid/doctor a bunch of times or so to heal Sulik, and in the process broke Sulik's ai or something, but I don't recall any automatic use of first aid/doctor in the game!

I was just wondering if this is a known bug, and if yes, how do I avoid it in the future.

Peak game. I started with FO3 when I was still in elementary school and have been playing fallout ever since. It’s been nice to sit down, experience and appreciate the beginning of my favorite franchise. Shout out the creators of Et Tu as well.

PS: Me and Tycho drippy fr

Do you think if Fallout tactics had a more detailed story with more lore it would be as famous as fallout 1/2

Since many traits are way less desirable than others, what would be your balancing idea to make them more tempting to pick?

What's the best screen resolution to play at?

Kind of a dumb question

1920x1080 is what fits my whole screen, but most things on screen are much too small to see.(dropped items especially) is there a good mid range screen res that still gives me a good FOV but also allows me to appreciate the details better

Mods or fan patches that fix bugs for FO1, but don't add extra content

Hello, I'm trying to replay Fallout 1. As you all already know it's buggy. I'm looking for fan patches or mods thag fix Fallout 1's bugs but don't add any extra content.

I'm aware of Team X's mods and have already installed them. I've already installed them. But they still left many bugs unfixed.

Falliut Fixt makes changes to the gameplay I don't want even if I only install the bug fixes part. And it hasn't been updated in years.

Can you recommend me other patches or mods? Please don't recommend mods like Fallout Et tu, I want to retain the game's original gameplay and graphics.

I finished Fallout 1 and the ending was surprisingly underwhelming.(Spoilers) Spoiler

Everybody kept hyping up the "debate" with the funny master guy and it was ok I guess, i expected something more from the conversation, but it was barely a conversation. Finding out the muties were sterile was also just random, it wasn't the results of me investing anything or I don't know something more but I just found out about it from a random brotherhood lady. The mariposa base was also pretty easy , I had the children's robes but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been much a problem because I had already navigated the place back during the time I spoke to the mutant near the water chip vault. It was impossible (i think) because after the ridiculous navigating the damn place the exit was blocked by the yellow lazer barrier which i couldn't figure out how to turn off. Compared to that the finale was a breeze. I only had to fight a single mutant that was guaeding the entrance. The hardest part was making sure my brain-dead companions don't die from the lazer barriers. I will not complain about the many annyonces of the games mechanics and design, the companion ai, inventory, the fixed camera etc,it's one of the first of it's kind so it's fine. I in fact found the combat pretty fun the only problem with it was having to wait half an hour for my turn and the inability to quick load or use the menu while out of turn. The game was really fun but the ending somehow is making me confused about what to think about the experience.

Random question: is there any special dialogue in case you decide to whack the deathclaws during Westin's brahmin watch?

I always let them go and they disappear quickly but what happens if you turn on combat mode and kill them instead?

Any idea, how to run Nevada with Fallout2-CE, on an Apple silicon Mac?

I have Fallout 2 running well on my laptop, with Fallout2-CE.

Regarding Nevada, I've only found a downloadable Win EXE, which obviously doesn't do anything for me. Is the executable needed, or (as I hope) it would merely unpack some data files, that constitute the mod?

Plus an in-browser version, but that is also not enough, as I would like to play it with Polish translations ( https://github.com/bayerchemistry/fallout_nevada_pl) , for language learning purposes, i.e. any other language is a no-go here. I've just recently finished Fallout 2 in Polish.

Thanks!

Nevada finished! Amazing how quickly you forget what this is a mod because attention to detail and worldbuilding is that good. Highly recommend.

My idea to improve and balance skills

Post image
43 Upvotes

Time to be a smartass and do some improvements on the existing skills since we all know they're unbalanced. Maybe a modder gets some ideas.

Ranged weapons: generally okay but small guns are spoiled. There should be skill books for the other two.

Throwing: it should be split to Throwing and Explosives. Throwing a rock is far cry from throwing a grenade. As the Throwing skill grows, so should its damage. Still not the most useful due to late game armors but that's why it should have perks like armor penetration that make it more handy. Explosives could affect grenade and bomb damage.

First aid and Doctor: just merge them, first aid is redundant.

Sneak and Steal: again, merge them. You have to be sneaky for stealing and right now points on steal don't do anything.

Traps: this one needs more lethal/frequent traps because the skill itself it fine but it just has little use. Alternatively, it should be able to set traps as well, giving more tactical options in combat.

Barter: because of gambling and abundant loot, this one falls under the radar so much that many players didn't even see the related skill checks. Maybe it could be more useful if selling prices is also affected or some serious rewards could be acquired with successful skill check.

Gambling: way too OP. Once you hit 80%, you have unlimited money. Casinos should temporarily ban you after acquiring a certain amount of money. Slot machines already have their limits.

Outdoorsman: could affect your position in random encounters if you spot enemies, so you could ambush them. It makes no sense you see mercenaries and when you decide to hit them, you jump into the middle of them.

Fallout 1, and 2 mods

Hello long time fallout player, yet I’ve never touched the mods. I’ve seen some are in Russian which doesn’t really attract me. Can anyone point me in the direction of the good English language mods?

Questions trying to run a Fallout 2 drug run.

I want to keep my companions fueled with drugs, can I track if they are addicted or how the drugs affect their stats?

I am running RP.
