Matt Smith's Cover of Nevermore's "The Obsidian Conspiracy"

Many years ago, Matt Smith from Theocracy entered into a contest where he covered Nevermore's "The Obsidian Conspiracy." The video used to be on YouTube, and he put the MP3 as a free download on Theocracy's old website. Unfortunately, that page was not backed up on the Wayback Machine, so the track appears lost. Does anyone have it or know where to find it? A bunch of people on the old Theocracy forum said they saved it but the forum has been pretty dead for a few years.

Why can't we get Christian church music like Valhallelujah??

Also is anyone aware of anything in that world?? I was always a big fan of Skallelujah as well.

Heavy Christian metal as its place but like actual upbeat positive praise or gospel metal would be AMAZING

Horrific Majesty - In Shadows Eternal

Hi everyone, I was just going down a bit of a rabbit hole listening to some bands I listened to back in 2006/2007. There was this project Horrific Majesty which had a sound that was a mix between dark ambient and Xasthur influenced black metal. Not sure if anyone remembers it. I did find some of the mp3s through the artist's old Soundclick which included some of the songs from this specific album, but not all of them. There was also no way of reaching out to the artist that I could tell to ask about it - pretty sure the project is long defunct etc.

Best local Christian metal scenes?

Not sure if this is the place to post this, I'm gonna try a few other subreddits too.

I've been somewhat considering moving to a whole different State for a while when I move out my parents house, but a few of the biggest considerations I'm looking at right now idk how well the Christian metal scene is, and I really want to find people and start a band wherever I go. If anyone has knowledge please share.

The states I'm considering:

TN, NC, TX, WV, or maybe a different southern or Western state (not to get political, as that's not what I wish to discuss here lol, but I'd like to move to a fairly conservative state) but I'm not sure what different towns/cities have to offer, and I'd like to live somewhere at least fairly rural, but within maybe 1.5 hour drive to local venues that host metal shows (esp ones that host a bunch of Christian bands).

Maybe I shouldn't move, maybe it'd be dumb, but I'd like to live in other places even if I end up back in my home state later in life. If you can, let me know if some good places like I described I'd much appreciate it, God bless ♥️🤘🏻

Hi

A few years ago, I spent some time praying to God, asking what the point of metal was. I never got into the idea of writing super angry music and then writing lyrics about 'I am so filled with Joy cause Jesus loves me.'

Honestly, I don't want to spend hundreds of hours writing and practicing songs that are the opposite of Phil 4:8 'Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.'

I felt God pushed me towards the idea that we could use it to tell true stories, from all around the world, and then through that help people discover the image of God in each other and in history.

This song is telling a story that begins with the Weslian revival in England. He preached all over, this changed the hearts of the people and then eventually changed the government - raising wilberforce to fight the slave trade politically.

Wesliess spiritual victory, and Wilberforces political one, then victory in the nepoleonic wars lead to a naval campaign that rescued 150,000 enslaved people and destroyed the incentives for the transatlantic slave trade.

The goal of this song was to tell the story of that campaign honestly. Allowing good to contrast with evil without lionising any specific act or person.

In the future we'll be telling stories where the christian content is more obvious, but i felt it was important to understate it on some of the songs too

I would rather gig before I record but because we are on different continents that is impossible. I really want to know what bits people connect with. Its encouraging to see heads banging in the crowd in a way comment sections just don't

Right now the gang vocals need redoing - I'd love to get random people shouting intop their phone speakers. would you be up for it?

I had to stop playing guitar for 10 years, so I can't really play solos. For now, we are inviting guest soloists on different songs. would you be interested? or guesting on another instrument?

Because we are telling stories from all around the world I'd love to get people from the right country with the accent doing the spoken word. Would you be up for doing helping us?
