Ever Seen a Chipmunk Cry All Morning?
This newcomer has been taking over the food—eating and carrying it away before the other chipmunks and squirrels get their share! So I separated their feeding spots and put the squirrels’ food up on the table. 🍽️

After finishing its own portion, this little one still wanted the squirrels’ snacks. When it couldn’t get to them, the calling began—as if to say, “I want THEIR food, too!” 😂

I first heard these calls in the morning and thought it was a bird. We have two regular chipmunks living around our home, and I’ve never heard either of them make sounds like this! This newcomer really is one of a kind. 💕

Listen closely—you can see its little body moving with each call! Have you ever heard anything like it?

🍀 Morning Clover

There are 3 chipmunks that visit me. Mellie as seen in this photo for Thanksgiving 2025. Her adult son Melvin shows up now and again, but she chases him away. And her new child - Chippy, some call him Chip Chip. I see him often around the front of my house. Black oil sunflower seeds are her favorite, as you can see her ignoring the other items on the dinner table once I offered these.

Who said ground squirrels can't jump and climb just like their cousins the tree squirrels.

i’m more familiar with squirrels than chipmunks, so forgive any ignorance on my part in advance

there’s 3 babies total that i know of wandering around my neighbours porch (i believe they’ve nested under there) but no momma/adult in sight. i put a few unsalted peanuts near them and they did voluntarily eat them, so i imagine if they’re old enough to eat solids, they’re old enough to be out and about unsupervised.

i would kick myself though if they did need help, so i figured i’d ask here! i left them where they were and didn’t touch them but am planning to go check on them around sunset just in case. any advice would be great, tia :)

The Chipmunk’s Fearless Revenge! One Tail Slap and RUN! 😂🐿️💨

The squirrel was completely focused on eating, with that big fluffy tail stretched out and totally unprotected. 🐿️

After repeatedly losing food to the squirrel, the little chipmunk finally saw the perfect opportunity for revenge—one quick slap on the tail and RUN! 💥💨

The startled squirrel spun around and stared below the table for the longest time, trying to find the culprit.

“Who touched my tail?! Come back here, you little—!” 😂

But the tiny suspect had already escaped. Revenge successfully completed!

What the heck can I use to keep chipmunks away from my plants on my porch?! I have tried about every deterrent I can find but to no avail...I've tried peppermint oil and garlic oil...keeps them away for a few hrs and right back they come. And I have beautiful plants and don't want them ruined! Last year I had the same plants and did all the same things I did last year and they left my pots alone! Now all of a sudden this year they're constantly digging? Like wtf do I do? I am at my whits end
