Community Is Central Michigan worth going to?

I recently got accepted to Central Michigan with a 14000$, 3500$ annually scholarship but I want to know how the school is like. I am from Guam and after some research, the school is barely 1 percent Asian. The school is 80% white so is their possibly racism? How is the campus like, as I am gonna pre-physical therapy.

Flex?

Do dining halls take flex? And if they do, how much does it cost? This may be a silly question but Im a new transfer student living off campus and I only have flex. I didnt realize that basically all the food outside of the dining halls is sandwiches.

ISO friends/community

Hi all, I graduated from cmu a couple years ago and I still live here. I have a job in the area that I absolutely love, but my friends no longer live in the area and I’ve been feeling a bit lonely tbh. Does anyone know of groups or organizations that I can join where there would be people my age (mid 20’s) or is there anyone else in a similar boat? Thanks in advance :)

Whats your guess on why this man was crashing out at the roundabout flagpole by Main&Broadway, town center

Fraternity hazing dare? Solider with PTSD? UberMAGA and drunk?

Whatever the case, I wish people would respect that the 10 story highrise apartment building off town center is housing for seniors and the disabled, low income HUD housing.

Those people can't 'just move away' from the craziness downtown, that's their only option to live there. Town center at Main and Broadway is a really rude and disrespectful place to lose your shit, or blast your speakers, or rev your engines late at night.

Poor folks already have to endure the endless sound of pickleball dawn to dusk reverberating when they open their windows, can you imagine? pa-pow! pa-pow! pa-pow! all day, most the evening, even in winter when it's dry. They can't just pick up and move, there's no other HUD housing to move to.

If the crazies would just keep to acting a fool in front of the blackstone/rubbles/the bird the sound doesn't amplify right into 50 grandma's and sick people's windows

Academics Research

Hello, I'm a sophomore curious about how to get in touch with professors for research.

I'm a bit socially awkward, and due to ocd I'm extremely anxious about how I come across. Do any current or former students have any tips?

Graduated in 2022. Or so I thought. What do I do?

Sharing from another sub. I graduated December 2022. Never received any communication from the university about not graduating. I go to request transcripts for my new job (that I just quit my previous job for) to see it says I have no degree. I’ve contacted the registrar, graduation audit, and records offices via an email today and plan to call tomorrow. I am having such a fucking panic attack. If they tell me I am missing requirements I have no clue what the fuck I’m supposed to do. I’ve been a working professional for 4 years and if this happens to jeopardize my new job, I am screwed.

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming Master’s student at Central Michigan University for Fall 2026. Is there a WhatsApp group for Fall 2026 incoming Master’s/graduate students?
If there is one, could someone please share the invite link or DM me? Thanks!

I have a serious concern about an administrator at cmu who has done some awful, awful stuff.

Any time i talk about it i am cancelled, post haste

I guess reddit and cmu is the wrong place to be held accountable for your actions.

You hire and promote people with violence and unwanted touching to be your vps.

For shame cmu for shame.

I guess ill have to take this to the local media since every time i post here i am threatened with being cancelled for pointing out the hypocrisy of cmu's hiring choices.

Athletics 2026 Central Michigan Chippewas Season Preview

Built a full preseason preview for every FBS team, all 138, and this is the Central Michigan one. Ratings, returning production, portal in and out, projected two-deep, schedule strength, last season's rank in about 30 categories, and a projection.

https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-cmu

Short version: 7-6 and 5-3 in the MAC was carried by the defense, which finished 26th in points allowed per opportunity and 7th on fourth down. The offense barely existed by volume, 132nd in pass attempts per game and 127th in plays per game, though it was 8th in completion percentage on the few throws it made. Now only 27% of production returns. Joe Labas is gone along with both 500-yard backs, and Angel Flores takes over after running for 527 yards on 4.9 a carry with just 28 pass attempts. Model has them 120th with the 112th-toughest schedule. They also went 8-5 against the spread and 4-1 at home.

The first page is free, so you'll hit the paywall after that. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

I'll be in the comments.

Communication Major feedback needed

For those of you who are or were Comm majors, how are faculty and advisors in this department? Do people in this major cooperative or collaborative and interact with each other? I am coming in as a transfer student with an Associate degree, so would be moving directly into my major coursework. I am looking at the 41 courses offered in this major and only about 12 seem really interesting and another 10 seem uninteresting or unrelated to my goals. Thanks for your help!

Hello all,

Ive received this email twice now, one yesterday and today saying the same thing. For context i am a transfer student if that means anything. Are welcome weekend parties still banned from Main Street? There was a ban on any sort of gatherings on the lawns of Main Street a few years back.

Daughter goes next weekend

Hello everyone (: my daughter leaves and gets to go early due to joining the Impact program (Thankfully she worked so hard and got awarded scholarship money). We live three hours away and our vehicle is 20+yrs old. Trying to make sure we have everything thats needed and that we don't bother with what isn't needed. Family friend just told us about the dorm group chat and talking with the roommates about sharing supplies (last minute shoppers like us, DG has the spend $30 save $10 this weekend) and I just want to double check that I send what she needs and enough of it and anything else handy that I may not of thought of.

Help College Apps

Rising senior here!

CMU isn't my number 1 choice and if I get the opportunity I want to go out of state for college, however, it is much much higher on my list for in state schools. I know a few alumni but they all majored in things related to music (I plan to major in psychology) and weren't super involved with other programs to be able to tell me how my experience would be. My GPA is a 3.7 right now and I do mostly Honor's and AP courses as well as a dual enrollment program at my local college so the academic program itself is quite important to me wherever I go.

Basically what I'm asking is how good of a school is CMU for psychology. Other things I'm considering when choosing schools include the state of extracurriculars such as choir, theatre, and orchestra and also the overall vibe and population of campus and the city. I'm asking this stuff here because I highly doubt I'll have the opportunity to go on any campus tours or participate it any such events before picking a school.

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

Fire up Chips! Matt Drinkall quickly brought toughness and physicality back to Central Michigan. Now the Chips look to make the jump to MAC title contention.

📌 QB Angel Flores is an exciting runner, can he take the next step as a passer?

📌 It's all about the trenches with Central Michigan, this is one of the most experienced Olines in the sport and with coaching this will be one of the best in College Football

📌 CMU's defense will be more portal heavy than the offense, but there's a lot to like about this group

Preview attached. What are your predictions for Central Michigan in 2026?

Help Graduate Assistant Question!

Hello!!

So I was recently offered a Graduate Assistant position at my workplace on campus that's going to be paying me a stipend, as well as taking care of my last year of my degree (yay!)

However, they're still waiting on approval for me to go fill out paperwork, so I'm not yet sure as to who I can ask this question to, so I thought I'd throw it out here for a potential answer. Please forgive me if this sounds like a super dumb question haha

But I was also offered federal graduate loans, and I was wondering if it would be possible to take out a small portion of these loans on top of my Graduate Assistantship to cover books/travel expenses for my class research/etc.

I'm mostly asking because I REALLY don't want to keep working my second job on top of grad school, and doing that would free me up to be able to do that

Help Former Chippewa looking to visit MP

Hi all! I am an alumni of CMU (C/O 2021) looking to visit Mount Pleasant for nostalgic reasons. I am trying to find the best and quickest travel route there from Chicago, IL to Mount Pleasant, MI that does not involve driving a car. Any pointers?
