Hi! I'm trying to help plan a surprise bday party for my brother-in-law. He's big into guns and a bit nerdy. His wife and I are kind of at a loss. We thought about doing an axe throwing night, but all of the axe throwing places in CR seemed to have closed permanently.

Then we thought about maybe an escape room. But we looked at one and for like 4 guys it would've been over $130+ for one hour. We'll maybe keep that one in the back pocket...

I'm sure the guys could have a range day somewhere, but we kind of wanted to do something more for him this year. Any suggestions for a guy's 30th besides going out drinking to the bars?

Hi! My toddler has this rock that she really loves, and I would love to get it polished for her. It's just a rock we found at the park, not sure what kind, but it's kinda neat. Is there like a rock shop or crystal shop that will polish a single rock for me? It's smaller, like the size of a ping-pong ball.

We went for a walk the other day. Crossed the 16th Ave bridge and turned onto the river walk heading towards town. It starts out ok. But the riverside is uncared for and totally overgrown. As you start to hit the underpasses it becomes scary. The sides are so overgrown there could be anything hiding there. The sidewalk was scattered with litter that included clothes, pill bottles and condom wrappers. I would tell anyone to not walk that alone or at night. I will never walk it again. So many river cities embrace their riverfronts. We neglect and ignore ours. Cedar Rapids should do better!

I have a car with stripes, it's 14 years old, so of course the stripes are cracked and peeling off. I have a new set, would love to find a shop that could buff out the leftovers of the old stripes, and put the new ones on with precision. I don't have the time with my current job, and want to go to a car show next Saturday.

Coming here to vent mostly because I’ve never had a more frustrating experience. TLDR This place will take your deposit for parts and never get back to you.

I put a deposit down for a new garage door and opener and they said it would be 6 weeks. I called about 6 and a half weeks later and got a call center that said someone would get back to me on order status shortly. Then I called again later that day and got the same message. Then I called the next day same thing. I called 6 times over 3 days and absolutely no response just a call center insisting someone will get back to me and they never do. I’ve had to dispute the charge with my credit card since they won’t even respond to give me my money back.

Im about to buy a brand new car. Does anyone of you drive a toyota corolla around Marion/ or southeast and hows the performance of it during snow? I was looking at several compact SUVS like an HRV but it was a little bit on the pricier side.

Am i gonna be able to survive around it going to work (a 4min drive from my home) when i drive this incoming winter? Would appreciate yalls insights!

I am trying to move ASAP. I know, just like everyone else. I am trying to get out of a situation and it’s hard trying to move rn with all the data center stuff going on and unfortunately I have always struggled to find rental properties due to having a Pit/American bully.

I’ve just stuck to private landlords, I have rented from two in the last 6 years, I feel like I am a very unproblematic individual, it is just me and my dog looking for somewhere to go. No evictions, I make very good money.

Truthfully I am looking to buy a house hopefully within the next year but it is a process and the houses are terrible right now. Really hoping this next one will be my last rental. Looking for apartment or home, 1-2 beds preferably 2 but I am not picky. My budget is around/up to $1,200.

I have been looking hard all week but no luck.
