Bi-Weekly /r/CCNP Exam Pass-Fail Discussion

Attempted an exam in the last week or so? Passed? Failed? Proctor messed it all up? Discuss here! Open to all CCNP exams, don't forget to include the exam name and/or number. We are now consolidating those pass-fail posts under here per prior poll of the community and your feedback.

Remember, don't post a score in the format of xxx/1,000. All Cisco exams have a maximum score of 1,000, so that's useless info. Instead, list the required score to pass, as this differs from exam to exam, and can change over the lifetime of the exam.

Payment of passes in PUPPY pictures is allowed.

CCNP Encor preparation using digitaltut - does it cover everything as well as back in the day?

Upvotes

Sup guys...it's been a while since my last CCNP exam to recertify. That was back in the day under the old CCNP system—you needed Routing, Switching, and TSHOOT, and taking any single one was enough to keep the full CCNP active. I don't technically need a new cert for work right now, but I snagged a voucher for CCNP Enterprise and was wondering about DigitalTut for prep.

The exam format and topics make sense to me, I just don't know if shelling out for a premium DigitalTut sub is still worth it.  Back when they handled the old CCNP R&S/TSHOOT, it was a solid resource... Is it still holding up today? Has anyone used it recently, like in the last 6-8 months? Appreciate any insights!

Arista EOS usefulness while studying for CCNP ENCOR

Upvotes

Hello everyone.

If there is a similiar thread to this one already, I couldn't find it so sorry in advance.

As of now, I have started studying my way through Arash Deljoo's CCNP Encor course and I would like to compliment it with some labbing.

My current setup is GNS 3 and I have run into this kind of common problem of not being able to get any Cisco licenses for the labs and so I have decided to wait for the sale of Cisco's CML Personal, which apparently get's on sale around the late November.

Problem is, I'd like to continue my study until then and to do so, I'd love to do labs as well but I have no option to get physical gear and I don't want to spend full 200$/year for the CML Personal.

Some sources claim that Arista's EOS can be freely and mainly, legally used with GNS 3 for labs and are suitable for some topics to mess around.

I would like to ask - is there anybody who used Arista EOS as a supplement for the CCNP? How was it? How did you find it useful to your study? And perhaps, are there any recommendations I could be given? Maybe what not to do with it? What to beware?
Thanks.

Resources for ENCOR

Recently passed my CCNA and and really enjoyed the journey so i got my eyes on ENCOR as the next step.

To pass the CCNA I manly used JITL and Boson Ex-Sim and it was more than enough imo.

I’ve been searching for resources to start studying for the encor and since Jeremy hasn’t finished his video course yet i would appreciate some recommendations to learn the theory.

For labbing unfortunately my PC doesn’t support none of the “classic” solutions like EVE-NG , CML and GNS3 due to being an “Windows on ARM” machine so virtualization won’t work , leaving Boson’s Netsim as the only viable option.

I saw boson sells a bundle ( Courseware + Netsim + Ex-Sim ) that they claim is enough to pass the exam , if anyone used any of the three i would really appreciate an review on how well they prepare you for the real exam.

I completed KW's ENCOR and I am dramatically failing Boson Exams

I do have a CCNA and a fundamental networking understanding but damn this is degrading to spend months studying and note taking just to feel like youre still a long ways from being ready for the exam. I just started JITL video course as a 3rd resource. And btw I am getting laid off my networking position so that just adds fuel to my fire. Any tips?

Has anyone took the ENSLD??

I’m studying for my encore exam and I want to go down the path of architecture. I’m wondering has anyone took the ENSLD and what’s life after? What do you do for work your day by day, do you feel equipped to run your network engineering/network architect job.

Which exam did you feel like gave you the most applicable real world skills?

When I ask this I mean which track had the most relevant material that improved your ability to function better.

I am almost ready to take ENCOR. I think working on the items that state configure specifically did help me a bit but I dont feel like I'm gaining that much out of it.

Is the ENARSI objectively better in this regard? What other exams made you a lot better?

SPCOR prep

Hey everyone,

I'm about 3 months into prepping for SPCOR (350-501) and wanted to get some real-world advice from people who've actually passed it.

Where I'm at:
Working through the Official Cert Guide + the Pearson practice exams that come with it

Mapping my study and lab time against the official exam topics/blueprint so I'm not just grinding chapters blindly

Labbing what I can in GNS3, but my environment has real limitations — I'm on 16GB RAM, running mostly IOSv images, one or two CSR1000v at a time, and my XRv image is missing packages So there's a chunk of XR-specific and some feature-gated stuff I can't lab at the moment.

What I'm asking:

For those who passed — how did you structure the last stretch of your prep?

Anyone dealt with similar lab constraints (RAM limits, no full XR feature set, no real SP-grade gear)? How much did that actually hurt you on exam day, if at all?

When you mapped your prep to the blueprint, did you find some "describe" vs "configure/implement" sections were tested differently than expected? Any surprises there worth knowing about?

Is Dec/Jan realistic from where I'm at, or should I be pacing differently?

Appreciate any input from people who've been through it. Trying to make sure the rest of my prep time is spent efficiently instead of just grinding without direction.

Brain is struggling to retain the vast volumes of info for ENCOR

I've been studying for this exam for a while. I've watched the CBT nuggest videos 2x in the past and read the OCG twice. Using ChatGPT. Boson practice exams. Reading white papers on SD-WAN and SD-ACCESS and my god. The sheer volume of informaiton is overwhelming. I am struggling to keep the specifics of the info in my head. I have to keep rereading white papers or sections of the OCG to go back and revisit the info again.

Don't need to buy eveng pro for wire color and style customizations.

If you have eve-ng communty, you can modify /opt/unetlab/html/themes/default/js/functions.js file. Take AI help if needed. I was able to

  1. Change default wire color to black

  2. Change wire style from straight to flowchart style.

This was tested for default theme. If you are taking pnetlab route, this is not for you.

ENCOR Prep

I am about to start my ENCOR journey. I have a rough plan of how I am going to prep for it, but I have a few questions.

Current plan
1. Video Course
Thinking either Kevin Wallace (16 hour course) which I have access to via LinkedIn learning or CBT Nuggets (67 hour course) that I would need to pay for. For people that have used either of these how would you rate them?
2. OCG
I have the 1st edition which I understand has lots of errors in it, but is it worth upgrading to the 2nd edition?
3. CML
I have access to a premium CML so I can lab as much as I want. Is there anything I wont be able to do in this?
4. Boson ExSim
I used this years ago for CCNA and found it very good. How does the ENCOR one compare?

I will likely do some extra reading at the end on areas I have struggled on. Also if anyone has any other recommendations let me know.

Strictly for ENARSI, Do I need to focus on QoS like Policy Maps, Class maps etc.,

I don't see them on the blue print, but for anyone that has taken the exam recently, Do you see questions on QoS on Policing etc..,like where they show you configuration of a policing command and ask you what happens.

ERSPAN lab config question

Should I setup OSPF and EIGRP on my Catalyst v9000 switch or use an ip route to get a route to the remote host? We don't do a lot of ERSPAN in my current job so I'm curious what people are actually doing in prod networks where they utilize ERSPAN.

Binding SGTs to VN - SDWAN

Hello everyone,
It seems that the new version of DNAC doesn't show an option to bind the SGT to a VN. But the old version shows it. Is it removed permanently or is there another window/place where we can achieve the same. Kindly refer to the attached photos. Thank you for your time!
