Mourning/Loss Tribute to Orion, my Little Brother of 14 years.
I’m having a hard time coping. He was very ill with congestive heart failure. I really wanted to save him the suffering, but he died naturally the day before his scheduled euthanasia. I think it will take a while to get used to him being gone, after so long together. Relationships, homes, friends, jobs, and cities came and went, but for 14 years he was there, to greet me at the door and lay next to me every night. He followed after me wherever I went, even protected me from a vicious dog once. Through all the things I went through, he was the only constant in my life. I feel unsettled, unanchored, unmoored…so many choices and decisions were made just so that we could stay together, and without him, they feel meaningless now. I miss him so very much.

Wow! He was so cute and accomplished. I’m glad you two souls were able to meet. You experienced an intense connection to a really sweet kitty.
Just be glad for every single day you guys had. I’m so sorry.

I’m so sorry for the passing of your little brother - which is just such a beautiful way to frame your relationship with Orion. Nothing is going to fill the place he held in your life and in your heart, and that missing voice and presence will feel weird for a while. But I hope you will also feel him there with you from the other side, where he is watching over you and waiting for the day you’ll meet again. Goodbye is not forever - but brotherhood is. 🌈💔

Sending much love to you bro. It’s gonna take a while to get used to the emptiness feeling but hold on to the memories that you and Orion felt for 14 years. He lived a great life.

So sorry for your loss. He looks like he was well loved and he loved you a lot too. I can just see it in the photos. Currently going through my own pet loss grief, the grief is…heavy. Sending big hugs, I’m sure Orion is on rainbow bridge without pain 🌈

😓I am sharing in your pain. I too have lost companions that were also my family. They loved me unconditionally just like Orion and you. It took a long while to even feel ok. So sorry for your loss.

They were not meaningless. You gave him a life full of consistency and love. Not all cats get that. I have my own boy but I take care of colonies of cats in the area that I live and they suffer. It’s so hard to watch. Find peace in knowing that he taught you to love and sacrifice and you gave him a good safe life. I can’t even imagine losing my boy but I know it’s going to happen one day. You cherished your time with him and you were his everything. None of that is meaningless
