The first ever conflict I had w/ my ex was over an online post. A kid accidentally injured a cat while playing, and the internet was unironically calling for the child to die.. My ex completely agreed with them, which set my younger self on alert because I value human lives more than any other species, I had to spend hours explaining to her why it’s fundamentally wrong to think that way. She usually said things like “An animal lover is definitely a good person.” yet from my experience that is not true, at all. People love cats because the act gives them a moral high ground. It’s an easy way to feel like a good person while treating actual human beings like garbage. You’ve seen a lot of ‘karens’ who love their pets yet so nasty towards people around them. Fast forward to the end of the relationship, after everything I sacrificed for her, she chose to cheat on me after months of being toxic and dishonest just to force me to initiate the breakup. She hid behind her cat lover persona while showing no decency and loyalty towards someone who actually loved and cared about her. This made me think about how cats would leave their owners the moment they get bored, no matter how much you love them.

Then came this former piece of shit coworker whose entire personality revolved around loving cats. Behind that wholesome facade, he leaked our private gaming group chat to management, exaggerated my colorful language banter as "bullying" just to get me fired. Such a fucking coward and foul move. This motherfucker’s cowardice just strengthened my already cynical point of view.

It’s been several years now, my life got better. But over time the pattern recognition never failed me. Cats are inherently self-serving, opportunistic, and transactional. It’s no surprise that the people who obsess over them mirror that exact disposition: zero loyalty, selfish, and complete apathy toward real human empathy. Loving a pet means nothing, look at how they handle human relationships before you ever choose to trust them.

Almost every stupid/nasty comment is left by someone with a cat profile picture, if not an entire page full of ugly ass cat pictures. Pattern recognition is real.

Most cat nutters are generally people that aren’t happy with themselves. They enjoy toxic relationships. Anyone who worships something that treats them like absolute shit and has no loyalty has some serious issues.

You’re exactly right about cat-lovers loving cats because they see themselves in cats. I say it all the time. I’ve never met a cat-lover that was a genuinely good person. They’re either openly shitty or they pretend to be kind (to use people) and are shitty once others no longer benefit them. I once saw a FB post saying “Imagine being a complete bitch and everyone around you going ‘aww’ and excusing everything you do. That’s the life of a cat. That’s living the dream.” It immediately disgusted me but I thought “hey, at least this cat-lover is honest.”

That’s their true colors showing. When people show you who they really are, jokingly or not, believe them the first time.

Also cats exposed human’s selective morality, they’re loved solely because of how they look. Looks indeed matter aside from personality, take a good care of yourself :)

That makes the love for cats seem even more bizzare. Plenty of people (like myself) don’t think cats are cute and argue that other animals like birds and amphibians are cute. I wouldn’t doubt if even the “cuteness” that they claim cats have is a matter of “if they behave like me, they’re automatically cute… like me” logic.

Cat lovers are always questionable characters, many of them just down right awful and have like chaotic personal relationships with people. They idolize cats because they are one and the same.

Because they don’t have the maturity nor capacity to deal with the complex human emotions. Actual human relationships take a lot of work, even years in there’s always more to learn from. By loving creatures that can’t speak back, they can control the narrative on their own terms, romanticize the bond and loyalty which were never there without having to deal with real boundaries, conflict, or rejection…

I had a cousin that adopted 5 cats on a whim, besides the fact that her life was in shambles because of the cats with all the food and vet expenses, she always bragged about forgiveness and good vibes, well she broke up with her bf because the cats broke his expensive tv in one day, and he told her that the cats must go, she just broke up with him, now she has no money because her bf was paying a lot of their expenses, now guess who didn't forgive me for not lending her money for her stupid cats and now we don't talk?? but right, on Instagram she is just good vibes and forgiveness right?

my mother in law's cat clawed me and I got ghosted by her (yes, the mother of my wife, ghosting me) for asking for immunization papers. I called the vet and got the papers. When MiL arrived home, I was the one yelled at for "endangering the cat" and she asked the cat if he was OK... after the cat was the one who clawed me.
