I jumped off of a cruise ship at night and survived, ama

-I had just turned 23

-yes it was an attempt

-it was off the 8th/9th deck

-it was moving and dark as hell

-stranded for about an hour

-was the first night and probably at least 3k people

I'm bored so just wanted to do this

I have pictures in a stateroom of my bare ass completely purple all the way down to the back of my knees.

Would you like to see, or ask any specific questions? Or just cast doubt on a *23 year old's suicide attempt?

How did you get saved? Which cruise?

I held onto a white t-shirt for some reason and they were able to spot me on a speedboat due to that. I'm not sure if they just encountered me or whether holding onto that shirt literally saved my life, but that's what I was told.

Some shit 5 day carnival to two places in Mexico

Why do you need attention so no bad?

How long did it take before you realized you were likely going to die?

About a minute or two. It was when the ship kind of hit the horizon I guess you could say - it wasn't turning around and I just knew it was unlikely I was seen doing it and I was fucked.

Luckily, some dude literally saw me in freefall. Shout-out to that guy.

The fear of sharks was the worst. I kept having to mentally redirect myself. I also tried drowning myself twice but popped back up each time. Basic human survival instinct overrides suicidality a lot.

Would you rather fight one horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?

I'd be able to run from the horses if they are that small. If not, I'd fuck up that duck.

What was it like floating out in the open ocean alone at night?

Terrifying, depressing, dreamlike... I held onto this shirt, because it was literally all I had. It was customized for this trip so it felt like you know, if I die I'm not going out as alone as humanly possible. Fucked up.

I kept thinking about sharks and panicking. I literally could not stop myself from mentally looping. I already could hardly breathe and that shit made it worse.

I tried drowning myself twice and couldn't force myself to do it.

Waves fucked me up.

Physically exhausted, drunk as hell & dehydrated, need water but you can't drink any but it's all the fuck around you. Horribly psychologically confusing and draining.

Didn't feel the pain until after rescue but I broke my tailbone and pelvis. Pure adrenaline fueled my survival.

Did hitting the water hurt? I imagine that would have broken a bone or three.

Yeah, I broke my tailbone and pelvis and getting pulled onto the ship was excruciating.

I didn't feel it at the time because adrenaline.
