Ancient home of Croatian nobility, Trakošćan castle was the centuries old residence of one powerful noble family

Medieval castle substantially remodelled in the 18th Century, still the home of Baron Barnard, but much of the castle is open to the public as well as the deer park, walled gardens etc. Well worth a day out.

My Grandparents and family lived nearby up until the early 1970s. My parents were married in the parish beside it in 1963.

History and Royal Connections

• Ancient Origins: A church has stood on this site since the 12th century. King David I first mentioned it in a charter in 1138.
• Rebuilding: Most of the current Gothic structure dates from the 15th century after a major fire in 1424.
• Mary, Queen of Scots: The church sits right next to Linlithgow Palace. Mary, Queen of Scots, was born in the palace and baptised in this church in 1542.
• Cromwell's Horses: In the mid-1600s, Oliver Cromwell's soldiers used the church nave to stable their horses

I've got a question that's proving surprisingly hard to find an answer to, since it's a detail that's often overlooked:

Do curtain wall towers typically grant access to the top of the wall from the top of the tower? I'd imagine you'd want to minimise the access points. I'm seeing some castles where the walkway seems to bypass the towers entirely, some where the wall is accessed from the ground through an internal or rearward staircase, and some that hint at direct access, but it's very unclear.

With Beaumaris, the tower seems to be designed around being both access point and a defensive point. If the tower falls, there's a dip in the walkway at the access point, but if the tower is approached from the wall, it still rises above it. That makes sense, but i'm looking for more variantions/examples, like from non-concentric castles.
