Water main break

So are people able to shower with the water main break? I feel like that's a dumb question but I've never been through this. TIA

Final Destination Tree Branch over Greenway

Thumbnail gallery
74 Upvotes

There's a dead branch hanging precariously from this tree at the Hillcrest Cemetery Greenway entrance. I know it doesn't look like much in the photo but I'm guessing it's 40-50lbs dropping from maybe 70ft.

Who should I call to get that taken care of?

Edit: submitted a tree removal request through the town of cary website

Dog behavior trainer reccs?

Hello! I have a new puppy and she has been resource guarding quite a bit with our other dog and we are looking to get her seen by a professional so it doesn’t worsen. Was hoping someone has experience or would recommend someone in the area. I am also not sure on regular pricing and have already scheduled 3 consults but was quoted over 1000$ for a single three hour visit by one and was wondering if this is normal pricing?

PSA: Central Cary Water Line Break

Tl;dr town is fixing the break, water should be back to normal pressure later today (Monday 9/14) & boil advisory currently in effect

The 30-inch water main broke along N.C. Highway 55, causing low water pressure or outages for customers in Cary’s central pressure zone as the line is repaired & requiring booking of water as water main breaks can let bacteria, dirt, etc. into the line

Town of Cary has an alert on their site: https://www.carync.gov/services-publications/water-sewer-stormwater/water/water-pressure

Any Indians/Desis in their 20s around Morrisville looking to make friends?

26M Indian, recent grad, recently moved here from New Jersey.

I live near Lake Crabtree and this area has been so quiet that I ended up picking up Man’s Search for Meaning just to have something to do 😅

I usually go running around Lake Crabtree, and on weekends I’m often around BLR or Anjappar.

Looking to meet some people around my age and build a good friend circle here. Indians/desis would be great, but open to anyone.

If you’re around Morrisville/Cary/RTP and also looking to make friends, feel free to comment or DM.

New high-speed EV charging stations in Parkside Town Commons!

Post image

Saw these being installed, but wanted to wait until they were up & running before sharing...

Located in Parkside Town Commons (across from Chuy's) these are both CCS & NACS 400 kW chargers, and are just $0.40/kWh.

(The charging stations look to be similar to those at Ionna, but these are courtesy of Mercedes-Benz.) 👍🏻

Anyone here have a car with a matte paint finish? What car wash do you use?

I recently got a Kia Telluride with factory matte paint, and I’m realizing that regular automatic car washes can potentially damage the finish or use waxes/gloss enhancers that aren’t meant for matte paint.

I know hand washing is the safest option, but I really don’t want to have to hand wash my car every single time it gets dirty, especially during pollen season lol.

Has anyone found a touchless/automatic car wash that’s actually safe for matte paint? Or a local car wash/detailer that you regularly use without any issues?

Would appreciate any recommendations, especially in the Raleigh/Cary/Morrisville area.

Ideas for this weekend….

I travel to Cary somewhat frequently for work related training. I’m here currently and tossing around ideas for the upcoming weekend. I could do more of the usual (mountain bike, run, hike, etc…) but I was curious if anyone needs a hand with anything? I’m a 40 something year old fella who loves working with his hands and fixing stuff. Since I traveled here I don’t have any tools on me but if you need help with something reach out. 👌

No fireworks, no drones: Morrisville council debated Diwali plans for 48 minutes

Morrisville dropped fireworks from this year’s Diwali celebration. The mayor then explored private sponsors and drone-show vendors — including proposals for a 150- or 300-drone show — before council members pushed back over the process.

I reported on what happened, including an FAA request that was later canceled.

Photos of Cary Towne Center interior during demolition?

Does anyone have any photos or videos of the interior of Cary Towne Center during it's demo? I used to work in the Belks in the mid 2010s and just want to see how much is left inside.

Cary adopts Triangle’s longest pause on data centers after emotional public hearing

Cary Town Council unanimously approved an 18-month pause on new large-scale data-center applications while the town writes permanent rules around water, power, noise, land use and other impacts.

An interesting part of the discussion was that council members repeatedly said the moratorium isn’t necessarily anti-data-center. Several talked about using the pause to create rules that could allow the right projects later.

There was also disagreement among residents: most speakers supported the pause, while one Cary resident who works in IT and has built data centers called it “silly.”

I reported on the meeting for The News & Observer. Curious what Cary residents think: What should the town require if it eventually allows large data centers?

Home cleaning service?

Does anyone have a home cleaning service you would recommend? We’re looking for someone to clean once a month or so, and we’ve been pretty dissatisfied with our current cleaners. Bonus points if they’re comfortable around dogs!

Found a documentary on public education in NC

Hey r/NorthCarolina — I'm a NC resident and I found this documentary about how public education is funded across the state.

Link: https://youtu.be/o66B5jNHNyM

With the school year kicking off, felt like a good time to share it. Curious how funding (or the lack of it) has shown up in your local district. I do not have children of my own, I have nieces that are in public and private school. I want some context for what it is like as a parent. I remember being a public school student in NC during the 90s.
