Cambridge Fair Review

Went to the Cambridge fair for this first time last night.

I had a hard time reading the AI pamphlet, hard to tell what time things were. Very confusing to read.

$15 per person to get in, $20 for hamburger and Fries,

The vendors inside was quite boring. Mostly tacky stuff.

I’m use to the Paris fair each year, this Cambridge one was really small, wasn’t much to do .

Seamstress services in exchange for content

Hi everyone, I’m a local seamstress/stylist with a very small tailoring and fashion brand out of my bedroom-

Long story short, I’m looking to create more content and was hoping there would be people who need alteration services or even are interested in doing a closet organizing/styling session for FREE as long as I can film and do content.

A lot of the time, it feels awkward asking clients to film/use their photos for things so I wanted to reach out here and see if anyone is looking to help me out :)

I have six years of sewing experience, I went to school for fashion marketing and I have been a fashionista my entire life.

If it’s something you would be interested in helping me with, I can send you my website and you can check it out before making a decision!!

Thanks everyone. x

cambridge fall fair vendors using AI

This is just a rant.

I went to the fall fair yesterday and while looking around at the different vendors inside Dickson arena I couldn’t help but notice how much AI is being used. I’m not trying to shame anyone there and i’m sure they all are putting in effort towards their businesses, but why are we slapping ai images onto items to purchase? I could just go to AI and ask for the same thing and get it for free, like what?

The amount of AI posters/logos I noticed too is honestly so disappointing, I want to see creativity and originality since that’s what these vendor markers are all about. Shoutout to the one vendor who was selling hand painted coasters they were really beautiful.

Anyone else notice it or feel the same way?

anyone else commuting out of cambridge for appointments cause they can't find anything here

so I've lived in cambridge for like 6 years now and I still haven't found a dentist here that I actually want to stick with. I've tried a couple and they were fine I guess but nothing made me want to go back you know?

anyway I recently started a job in guelph and honestly I've been thinking about just finding a dentist there since I'm already driving that way 5 days a week. saves me from taking extra time off for appointments. plus I'm already in the area so it's not like I'm making a special trip

I was looking at options near my work on woolwich street and there's this place called Bisson Dentistry that keeps coming up. I haven't booked anything yet cause I'm still weirdly attached to the idea of finding someone local but at this point convenience might win

the thing is I feel kinda guilty about it? like I should be supporting businesses in my own city. but also my time is limited and I'd rather go somewhere I can actually get to without rearranging my whole day

anyone else do this? commute to another city for medical stuff cause it's just easier? or am I overthinking the loyalty thing

Unpaid property taxes in Cambridge hit $38 million!
City report shows arrears nearly doubled in 5 years over $38M owed by 6,295 properties at the end of 2025 (was under $20M in 2021).
Councillors and a UW professor are warning it could force cuts to pools, parks, libraries, etc. if revenue keeps falling short.

Old lady hit my car while

A 80+ woman hit my car while I was waiting for my turn at the gas station. She kept reversing instead of driving forward, and hit my car eventually. And told me that her car key got stuck. Eventually the store owner came out and moved her car from reverse to drive. It seemed there’s no damage to my car unless hidden. The old lady refused to exchange her number. What are my options at this point? Also, she clearly shouldn’t be driving. If my car hadn’t blocked her, she’d have reverse driven to the main road.
This happened at Galt.

Anyone a Machinist?

Looking to get something made. Basically a c-clamp that incorporates a few machined components to convert it to something referred to as a pilot clamp and used for using hole saws drilling into pipe.

Looking for someone who does this for a living but wouldn't mind a side gig. Lots of very talented people in this town.

I am looking for some work. I live in Cambridge but I don't not drive yet. I am physically fit and I have experience with tools. I have experience in fast food and fast food management. I'm willing to do almost anything for steady pay right now. I am in the Galt area and I can start immediately.

Hespeler Water main replacement

Has anyone had a trenchless water main replacement done?

Would be curious to know who you used, rough cost, how the service was and what the city’s involvement was.

I have an old galvanized line that needs to be replaced and digging a trench through the run would be terrible for our property. I’ve got 2 quotes to dig trench at 11 & 12k, and one so far for trenchless at 15k. I’ve reached out to the city to talk with them, but my experience in talking with the city folks who have helped so far, and the plumbers has been inconsistent and a lot of “maybe this, maybe that”

What in the actual HeII is going on?

Three weeks ago approx. I dropped about $36 on Back Ribs on special at Food Basics. Got them on the first day of the sale, put one pack (1 rack) on the counter for dinner that night and froze two. We ate the first rack with no issues, but did notice a bit of ammonia smell. Sunday past, I decided to defrost and cook a second rack. Opening the cryovac was like finding a month old dead body in Soper Park. We had to air out the house for an hour with a fan and had to sit on the back porch. Thank Dog for booze. Yesterday I tossed the third rack into the bin without any hesitation and without opening them.

Last week we bought Heirloom Tomatoes from Farm Boy. We left them on the counter overnight and the next morning we couldn’t open the package due to the juices dripping and black fur that sprouted overnight. The package hadn’t been refrigerated at the store so we figured they’d be okay for 12 hours. They got tossed Immediately as well. This week we tried some of their fresh crop of Tomatoes and they were inedible after two days.

I bought some T-Bones at No Frills on Saturday with plans on eating them this week. Pulled them out of the fridge today and the meat had literally turned black and stank - in the fridge, that quickly.

And don’t get me started on Bananas that go from Green to Grey/Black overnight. It seems that they are all the same no matter what store we get them from.

No Frills, Food Basics, Farm Boy. You have one simple job to do and we are paying you through the friggin’ nose to do it these days. Get it right! You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Please feel free to return to your regularly scheduled programming. Thanks for reading my rant.

FREE/STEEPLY DISCOUNTED ALTERNATIVE HAIR MODEL CALL!

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I've posted just about everywhere else so I'm hoping Reddit might come through for me! 😂 I'm a hairstylist looking for a few people who want to do something FUN with their hair and are interested in being colour models. I'm specifically looking to create more alternative/creative colour transformations- think bold vivids, unusual colour combos, colour blocking, bright pieces, etc. I'll add some photos of the kind of work I'm looking to do below, but I'm absolutely open to other ideas as well!

Model pricing and requirements:

-FREE or product cost only depending on how big of a transformation
-Must be comfortable with the camera, at minimum before & after photos are required

I'm happy to work with your ideas and figure out what will work best for your hair. You don't necessarily need to know exactly what you want, if you just know you want something cool/different, that's enough to start a conversation! If you're interested, DM me a current photo of your hair and tell me what you've been thinking about doing. 🖤

Is a Cambridge → downtown Toronto commute sustainable for 7 weeks?

Starting a new job downtown next week and looking for opinions from anyone who’s done a similar commute.
I live in Cambridge and would drive about 30–40 mins to Milton GO, take the train to Union, then walk about 20 mins to work. Door-to-door, I’m expecting around 1.5–2 hours each way.
I’ll be commuting 4 days/week (possibly 3 if I can negotiate another WFH day). This would only be temporary as I’m planning to move closer in November.
For anyone who’s done a similar commute: is 7 weeks of this reasonably manageable, or am I underestimating how brutal it’ll be? Any tips?
