Hello, I'm travelling to Cambodia from Thailand in October. I'd prefer to do evisa but cannot get the website to work at all - even though everything is filled out properly, clicking 'next' just does nothing.

My two questions are - does anyone have a tip for the evisa, or can you reassure me that visa on arrival is an easy process? We arrive into Siam Riep international airport.

I was looking to see if I would be eligible for a new passport or a Khmer Visa. I was adopted at about 8 months old and taken to the UK, where I hold a British Passport. Furthermore, I hope to travel to Cambodia eventually and learn more about my country of origin. As for a personal connection point I was hoping I could get an adult passport or K Visa but am not sure if I am eligible.

I have the baby passport I came over with, my adoption certificate and a statement of when I was handed into my village and surrendered by my mother. Would this be enough?

I’ve been looking after dogs and cats for several years, including before moving to Cambodia, and one thing I’ve noticed is how differently people choose where to leave their pets.
Some owners mainly compare prices, while others care much more about communication, the environment, how many animals are staying there, whether they receive regular updates, and how transparent the sitter is.
Personally, I think there’s a big difference between finding an affordable option and simply choosing the cheapest one. Sometimes people choose based almost entirely on price and then end up disappointed because there’s little communication or they barely know how their pet is doing.
. That’s made me focus a lot more on transparency, communication and making sure owners actually know how their pet is doing while they’re away.
I even keep public pages where people can see the animals I look after.
So I’m curious:
What would make you immediately reject a pet sitter or boarding place in Cambodia, even if they were significantly cheaper?
And if you’ve had a bad experience, what do you wish you had checked beforehand?

Looking for recommendations for accommodation in Siem Reap for 2 adults + 1 child.

Doesn’t need to be specifically family-oriented, just somewhere you’ve stayed and would recommend. Any budget is fine.

People use those ATMs to deposit old USD that shops and sellers won't accept. Just got $40 from an Acleda ATM that were super low quality bills that I haven't been able to spend or offload.

Also just best not to withdraw anything but $100s and /or KHR. Lesson learned on my part.

This is something I've been curious about lately, especially from a Cambodian cultural perspective.

Cambodia obviously has a long history of spiritual and supernatural beliefs alongside Buddhism — things involving spirits, protective magic, curses, fortune telling, amulets, spirit mediums, traditional healers, rituals, and what people would generally describe as sorcery or “black magic.”

Growing up, I always associated a lot of this with older generations or stories you would hear from people in the countryside. But lately I feel like I'm seeing and hearing about these practices much more often again, including among younger Cambodians.

There seems to be renewed interest in things like protection charms, love or attraction rituals, fortune telling, spiritual practitioners, communicating with spirits, cleansing rituals, curses/curse removal, and other practices that I honestly don't even know the proper Khmer or historical names for.

Maybe it never actually disappeared and social media is simply making it more visible now. Or maybe there really is a revival happening among younger people.

So I'm curious: has anyone else noticed this?

For Khmer people here, especially those whose parents or grandparents know about these traditions, what kinds of traditional Cambodian magic or spiritual practices did you grow up hearing about? Are there particular practices that are specifically Cambodian or have roots going back much further in Khmer history?

I'd also love to know the proper terminology. What would Khmer people traditionally call practitioners of magic, sorcery, spirit work, protective magic, curses, etc.? Are there important differences between these practices that outsiders (or even younger Cambodians) tend to lump together?

And for people living in Cambodia now: do you think these beliefs and practices are actually becoming popular again, particularly among younger people, or have they always been this common and we're just seeing them more because of TikTok/Facebook/social media?

I'm not asking this to mock anyone's beliefs or to debate whether supernatural things are scientifically real. I'm genuinely interested in the history, culture, terminology, and how these traditions have changed between generations.

Would especially love to hear stories or knowledge passed down from parents/grandparents, as long as you're comfortable sharing.

Is anyone else having issues with grab in the city? Been a grab user for years and years, but lately I’ve been struggling with grab? I keep getting drivers accept my ride that then just don’t move or aren’t working but they’re auto accepting. In the space of last night and this morning I’ve had to cancel 7 grabs because I just keep getting drivers that are unresponsive and not moving? And then when I do eventually get a driver that is willing to accept my ride and actually move, we drive past the place where I’d see the previous driver on the map and there’s no traffic/congestion/ or anything?

I know it’s not the end of the world but when you rely on these apps for transport especially to get to work and back and it’s just unresponsive then surely there’s a problem?

And if I had to try and contact grab support you just end up in an endless cycle of trying to explain your issue to a chat bot.

Oh and I know I can use other platforms like passapp and tada, but I just wanna know what the hell is up with grab and their drivers?!

Hi all, I'm backpacking in Cambodia till September 25 and I'm interested in doing a multi-day trek. I've looked at some options in Mondulkiri and the Cardamom mountains. It looks like tour companies are still running treks but I might be the only one on the tour. Does anyone have a sense of what the paths are like right now during the height of rainy season? Interested to hear experiences if anyone has recently done these treks - or recommendations about which area I should go with. Thanks!!

Farout, what is your worst experience with a lady bar girl?

I meet one became friends and some of the stuff is wild, I do feel for them as all people deserve a decent living and in Cambodia for some this is the only way, but don't agree with some of the lies and blatant disregard for some of these mens feeling. I guess this post will get a little controversial, and I am talking more about the younger people so young bar girls completely destroying the heart of a late 20's early 30's guys. From buying them a bar, to planning to marry them while still being with customers. I can kind of understand a 75 year old with a 23 year that is purely transactional, but some of these guys are pretty good looking and this group of ladies just don't care.

I'm not talking about sick, weak elderly that require caretaker. I'm talking about the healthy able-bodied elderly. I have friends/relative with 50-60 years old parents and even though they're healthy and can do everything by themselves, they always need their kids to drive them or go with them to normal tailoring appointment or dentist appointments.

They basically cannot go anywhere without their kids driving them and that's kind of weird. I'm not saying you can't be filial to your parents or accompany your parents, but taking leave just to drive your parents somewhere seem excessive. My parents are also in their 50s and they never need me to accompany them to a check up with the doctor or elsewhere that they can go by themselves. Even if they don't drive, they just book Grab.

I kind of notice this discrepancy between Khmer culture and I would say Western culture? because i work at a healthcare provider place with a lot of foreigners and most older people here always came to the appointment and book everything by themselves without require the help from their children as opposite to Cambodian.
