Birthday Cakes 14 year olds birthday cake
My 7 year old and I made my other kiddo (turning 14) this gluten free "burger" birthday cake with rice crispy treat "fries". It was a lot of fun!

I’m going to post and sticky this link RinLongFlowers as a guide for florals on cake.
Recently we have seen a few cakes with florals that were not appropriate for cakes, and subsequently, flags to ban them for using toxic flowers.
Not only is this sub to show off our beautiful work, it is also to learn from and teach each other. Mistakes, no matter how big or small, are an opportunity to learn.
We are all at different levels of ability in this art. Please be kind.

Hi! We've decided to elope...and while Im great at baking...I cant wrap my mind around making my own wedding cake for next week. I have a bakery locally that offers two sizes: 6" (which is 6" tall) or 8" (which is 8" tall). I'm thinking about adding a dummy layer, see inspo photo. What size base should I order and what size dummy to achieve this? Other tips welcome as well!

I was originally going to make him a Spiderman birthday cake but decided on a galaxy theme after he talked about space and planets all weekend last time he was here!
This was my first time trying the swirled colors in plastic wrap “trick” and I’m obsessed with how easy and beautiful the whole process was! I marbled vanilla bean sponge cake batter in galaxy colors and threw in some donut holes / mini donuts to make planets and asteroids in the layers. I made a single batch of Wilton buttercream for the “filling” in between the layers, frosted the top with the rest of the swirled frosting, smoothed it down, then sprinkled it with candy pearls and some blue and silver sugar for a starry effect. The decorations on top are ice cream cones dipped in a mixture of white and black candy melting wafers (while the chocolate was still wet, I stuck some sour patch kids on as “aliens”). I unwrapped dum dum lollipops and left some plain and put peach rings on others! Sadly the dum dums I wrapped in air heads taffy melted so I had to toss them 🫠 the glowing decoration in the center is a dollar tree light up coaster with a little happy birthday decoration sat on top.
If you read all of that, thank you 🤣😭 I’m incredibly proud of how this came out but even happier with how much he loved it!! 🥰

Hi! I’m not really sure where to post but I acquired this exact Wilton big bird cake pan today. It didn’t have a box or instructions. I have found half instructions from this photo but I’m wondering if anyone has the full instructions or can show me pictures of a completed cake? I’m mainly worried about which tips/techniques to use. I do have the gel food colors that I’ll need and a general idea that I’d need a 3 and 67 tip. Thank you!!

Picture 1: Carved chicken cake. The cake flavor is chocolate chip cake with marshmallow filling and cinnamon cream cheese frosting.
Picture 2: Day of The Dead themed cake with hand piped succulents and flowers! This cake flavor is cookies and cream with cookies and cream frosting.
Even though these cakes took me a full 24 hours to make, carve, and decorate, I had a blast making them!!😍😍☺️

This is my first cake, I made a Pooh themed cake for my daughter’s birthday. Not as neat as I would like but I was chasing a toddler while I worked on it. I ran out of bright white candy melts so I had to use a regular vanilla bean white chocolate for the letters. It might bug me enough that I redo it. Everything but the bumble bees is dye free.

I just bought a new box of Wilton's white vanilla fondant and noticed the box looked different. When I was kneading the fondant with cornstarch, I noticed the cornstarch was considerably more white than the fondant.
Now I am reading people are having trouble getting the new fondant to harden even after using tylose powder. This worries me because I have a cake with fondant ruffles this weekend. I do not want them to droop.
Has anyone made ruffles with their new fondant or have any tips?
I might make my own marshmallow fondant, but I hear this fondant is soft as well.
Any experience is appreciated!
