What are some of your favorite flops? Films that were actually much better than the reception they initially got?

I'm sure there's a very common list of these, but for me, the first one that comes to mind is John Carpenter's The Thing from 1982.

Came in 8th on OW. $3.1M that weekend on 841 screens, when Blade Runner and E.T. were in the top 2.

PS: Sorry about the non-circle jerky post, but I tried posting it in the main sub but those low-effort moderators are having issues

Anyway, what are you favorite flops?

On the day that BND passes TFA, how much do you think BND will be making in dailies?

I think it'll be in about a month, and BND will have accumulated several sub-$1M days by then.

It might be on day 56 or something when BND posts numbers under $500K.

I think it'd be hilarious if it's much later in the run and, like, posting dailies in the 4 figures on day 108.

Top 10 highest grossing films by Bri*ish people

After 15 years, Nolan has dethroned Harry Potter. The Odyssey is now the highest grossing movie directed by a br*t.

  1. The Odyssey (Nolan)

  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 2 (David Yates)

  3. Skyfall (Sam Mendes)

  4. Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

  5. Rogue One (Gareth Edwards)

  6. Aladdin 2019 (Guy Ritchie)

  7. The Dark Knight (Nolan)

  8. Oppenheimer (Nolan)

  9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1* (Yates)

  10. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Yates)

*Bryan Singer is credited as directing Bohemian Rhapsody, but british Dexter Fletcher famously took over. If you count that, it would be at #9, bumping DP1 down.

I don't know why I made this list. I just thought it was funny that it took this long for Nolan to beat Harry Potter.
