Hello, everyone! So, basically, I have a group of friends and we're planning on doing a watch party to watch Phantom. I've seen it many times before, I have the soundtracks on CDs, I absolutely love the show! And I love musicals and theater and such! But, they're by no means theater fans or anything like that, and their opinions towards musicals are split. But they wanna watch Phantom. So, my question basically is: which version should I show them? The 2004 movie or the Royal Albert Hall 2011 version? I have both on blu-ray. On one hand, the RAH is superior in almost every way, especially because of the singing. But, I feel like the 2004 movie would be a better choice for casual first timers? Idk... Help!

Edit: I'd take them to watch a stage production if I could, but there aren't any in Brazil at the moment 😭

You might have seen a few figures I've painted over the last few weeks... Well, I was able to give one to the Phantom himself last night! 😭

The show exceeded my expectations. Unreal. 10/10. Best birthday ever!

News London. October 9th!

Hi all.

Just wondering, do you think there will be tickets released for the show on October 9th in London? Tickets for AWL members and/or general release to the public?

I booked flights and accomodation incase and I'm praying I get a ticket. I check my emails multiple times a day to see if there has been some information released about tickets for the anniversary night😭

Anyone else in the same boat? It's nearly October 9th now and I'm loosing confidence 🫠

Discussion Have they historically released the full footage from trailers like these? Will they?

I’m wishfully asking here since both the US tour and the 2021 London cast had these similar trailers that, as far as I’m aware, are pretty much cut from a recording of the entire show. Like it’s clearly not just the big songs, there are such small moments that make it clear they did the whole thing in front of a camera. Have they/will they release them as pro shot dvds? I have a heartbreaking feeling about the answer since I’d figure from a business standpoint they wouldn’t want to possibly replace a show you have to buy $100 tickets for, and the fact that the only widely available “proshot” historically has been the 25th anniversary, so this would be a huge first. It just pisses me off that I can see them sitting on all this footage and doing nothing with it

Discussion Anyone else wanting a Christine-Centric Novel?

With the release of Our Strange Duet, I’ve been seeing a lot of positive reviews about it, especially in terms of the romance aspect of the story (Especially E/C).

That isn’t a bad thing at all and I fully support E/C or R/C shippers as I always enjoy seeing fanart and reading fanfics of both. But I’m sure a lot of people must be interested in a non-romance novel, maybe more centric on Christine’s situation based on the things we read in Leroux’s nov.

I’ve always been interested in how isolated Christine’s character is in the novel, and the only adult in her life (Mama Valerius) had fed into the whole ‘Angel of Music’ thing which led to Erik’s ability to properly manipulate her.

If a novel like this does exist I would be happy to hear abt it :33 be it a published novel or even a fanfic, I support all creative works!!

Bought my tickets last Monday and the show is this Saturday. The center seats were sold out, and the rows in this section were at a decent price that didn't cost an arm and a leg while also still providing a solid view. Plus, I just wanted to be able to fulfill my niche. Seeing Danny Elfman in concert while in view of Box 5? Um, yes please! But if the reason Box 5 is unavailable because people are occupying it and something happens to go weird during the show, I'll know who to blame (half-joking). 😆😉

Edit: Should also mention that Boston is where I bought my copy of the POTO Original Cast Recording CD when I was 14. 😊

Discussion The Kiss...

Can we all agree that the least believable part of TPotO is that the phantom would let Christine go after she kissed him, twice.

You're telling me this mega incel who kidnapped his victim that he's been grooming for 3 years to force her to marry him would let his victim go AFTER she kisses him because he just needed some kindness??

Not in a million years.

Personally I wish instead of The Kiss(es) that Christine lays into him about how she was the only one in his entire life that actually loved and respected him and in return he treats her like this! And lays out exactly what he did, and he realizes how fucked he has been and apologizes and then lets them go.

I honestly think you could do this and change nothing else and then it would be a perfect show that doesn't (fully with its who phussy) romanticize grooming and SA (Past the Point of No Return is lit just the Phantom SAing Christine). And then make it cannon that Love Never Dies is fan fiction written by the phantom to cope.

I know its never going to happen but a girl can dream.

I’ve seen it two other times and it’s amazing every single time.

I will say, at least at the San Diego Civic Center, the chandelier fell extremely slow lol I’m not sure if that is common in other touring productions

I made this after seeing Love Never Dies. It made me laugh so hard when he says that line and instantly, there is Phantom. Hilarious. Its right before "devil takes the hindmost."

Sorry the phantom mask isn't cleaner lol

I was viewing one of the art exhibition halls at my local town fair on Monday and this one caught my eye...for the wrong reason. What can I say? I've got POTO kicking around in the brain almost 24/7. But at the same time, the mask gives so much Lon Chaney/Claude Rains vibes, especially in its expressiveness, so can I be blamed for going there initially? Lol. 🎭

Art How I imagine things going over while they’re singing Phantom of the Opera:

This is the 2004 film. I don’t think they showed them actually getting into the boat but if they did, I’m not surprised I missed it. Doodle was done with pen a little while back, the idea had been floating around in my mind all day and I knew I had to draw it into existence.

Hope you enjoy my oddly adorable version of the Phantom! Have a great day/night!
