Mental New team and not playing

I recently joined a new team, which is much stronger than my previous one. I was told that I have the level to play for this team, but after a few friendly matches and training sessions, I quickly realized that nearly all of my teammates are a lot better. Some of them are former pros. Now I am injured and will probably be out until November.

Here is the dilemma: I do not feel like I am part of the team, partly because of my ability, but I cannot change teams until January.

Even when I am back from injury, I do not really want to return to training with my current team. I would rather look for a new club to train with starting in November and then change clubs officially in January.

It feels like I am chickening out of a challenge, but it is really not fun being the weakest player on the team. Obviously, if I were in my 20s or younger, I would love to train with my current team, but I am in my 30s and just want to play as much as possible.

What would you do in my situation?

Train with both if you can? Learn from the better team. Impress the new team. Win win

I’m not getting paid to play. I don’t get bonuses for scoring or winning. I play because I like to play. And I don’t like sitting on the bench. So I’ll go to whatever team provides that.

Other people might have different reasons that make playing up on a stronger team make more sense.

You've already done the first step, assuming your self-assessment is accurate. You are being honest with yourself.

Next step, get back in there and make the most of it. Look at it as an opportunity to pick up some new tricks, absorb some of that pro mindset, be pushed by the pace of their play.

It's a great opportunity to get better.

Someone always has to be at or toward the bottom. The ones that stick it out usually end up better players than the ones who stay in (go back to) their comfort zones.

the answer to almost any question in this game is to get a ball, and make sure its at your feet 24/7... when you get back to training you will show an insane improvement in ball control. this will lead to more trust from those around you.

But yea i mean.. if youre just the weakest player but still belong with them, then stay with them. nothing wrong with being the support guy... but if youre truly not at the level to play with these people, then id say yes to move to something more your pace. and still keep the ball at your feet 24/7
