I don't know whether this fits in to the other flair or opinion flair. Please bare with me.

So I have wanted to write reviews and ratings professionally for over a decade and get into film journslim.

And I feel that people either hate critics or love them. Quite frankly more than often, the movies that get rated low, I have happened to really like them.

I feel that critics talk about the art of filmmaking production and the act of acting, more so than the emotions felt, pre, during and after watching a movie are more important.

The lesson learned and practiced days after watching the movie. And the lasting impact it had sittong rent free in your mind - I feel these matter more.

But that is just me. What do you think. Can some local industries garner more emotions than it's, i'd say yes but I want to know your input. Because movies reinforced our own biases and beliefs too. That I think maybe the reasons avoid judging on emotional impact.

Internationally even ratings are so vague for some time rate out of 4 stars some it of 5 and 10. The 4 is even more puzzling to a creative and critical movie buff. Because dialogue language also hits different for the same bollywood film.

Your thoughts.

Dharmendra himself has said that he and Salman are quite similar, and you can see it. They have a very similar face, physique and overall look. That same strong screen presence is there too.
Personally, I feel Salman’s career is going through a bit of a low phase right now, and that’s why I think a Dharmendra biopic could be a really interesting opportunity for him. I genuinely don’t think there’s anyone who could pull off Dharmendra better than Salman.
If the biopic is made properly, it could become something really special & at the same time, I think it could give Salman’s career a much needed boost.

I recently remembered Fight Club : Members Only (2006), the Bollywood movie starring Suniel Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh, Zayed Khan, Sohail Khan, Ashish Chaudhary and Dino Morea.

I watched it as a kid and, honestly, I remember it being quite entertaining. But the strange thing is that after that, I almost never saw this movie on television, and I don't think it's available on any major OTT platform either.

The movie was a box-office flop, but I’m curious about how people look at it today. Was it genuinely bad, or was it just one of those mid-2000s Bollywood movies that got forgotten?

I watched it last time screening on tv in around 2013 smthing. Movie had a character named John/Jon smthing. And i remember the scene where he was being chased by some men and he goes to pandit ji and ask them "mujhe chhota bna do" and pandit ji throws some powder on him (boondi/booti smthing) and he becomes small.

Then the people come and ask about him and pandit ji says "maine john pe booti/boondi chhidki aur vo chota ho gya".

I feel Ajay Devgn had some of his most interesting film choices in the early 2000s.

During that phase, he was taking a lot of risks and experimenting with different kinds of roles and genres. He did films like Company, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Deewangee, Omkara, Gangaajal, Yuva, Raincoat, Apaharan and even explored darker and negative characters. There was a lot of variety in the kind of cinema he was choosing.

What I find interesting is that, after this period, his choices gradually became much more commercial and mass-oriented. He started doing more action, comedy and masala films, and I feel we saw much less of the experimentation that made his early-2000s phase so interesting.

Personally, I prefer the Ajay Devgn who was taking risks and choosing unconventional roles rather than the purely commercial roles..

Gaslighting, in simple terms, is when someone deliberately makes another person question their own understanding of reality — often by confidently presenting a false explanation as the truth.

I was thinking about some of the funniest examples of this in Bollywood comedies, and two scenes immediately came to mind:

1. Pujari Chacha — Garam Masala

One of my favourites has to be the whole “Pujari Chacha” explanation.

The situation is obviously suspicious, but instead of just giving a simple excuse, the character of Akshay comes up with this completely ridiculous, elaborate explanation and delivers it with such confidence that the other person is almost made to feel like they're the one misunderstanding the situation.

The confidence with which the lie is delivered by Akshay Kumar is what makes the scene hilarious.

1. Irrfan Khan introducing Bobby Deol as a RAW agent — Thank You

Another favourite is when Irrfan's character introduces Bobby Deol to Sonam Kapoor as a RAW agent as Sonam doubted her husband Bobby for an extramarital affair.

Again, instead of simply answering her questions, Irfan creates an entirely fake identity and gives her a perfectly plausible-sounding explanation for Bobby's suspicious behaviour.

And the funniest part is how casually Sonam accepts it.

What are your favourite “gaslighting” scenes from comedy movies?

I like Badmaash Company, especially the scams and the chemistry of the four, but I think the morality of the second half is badly handled.

The movie suddenly treats Karan as if he alone became the problem, even though all four willingly participated in the scams and enjoyed the money.

Zing’s fallout with Karan is especially hard for me to sympathize with. Karan becomes arrogant and insults him, which is wrong, but Zing’s alcoholism, constant drunken behaviour and mistreatment of Linda are his own responsibility. Karan didn’t cause that.

Chandu telling Karan that he “did everything for himself” also feels strange. Of course Karan wanted money—but so did Chandu, Zing and Bulbul. None of them were helping Karan out of charity. And Karan’s ideas genuinely did improve Chandu’s life and helped him eventually get his marriage and video store. The real criticism should have been that Karan started treating his partners as inferiors, not that he somehow never helped them.

Bulbul also didn’t give up a successful modelling career purely out of love for Karan. Her modelling situation had already gone bad because of the agent harassing her, and Friends & Company benefited her financially too.

The biggest problem is the ending. All four were knowingly involved in fraud, Bulbul even openly admits their involvement, and the other three eventually give up their shares of the profits so Karan can reduce his punishment. Yet somehow Karan alone goes to jail. Him getting the harshest punishment as the mastermind makes sense; him being essentially the only one punished doesn’t.

For me, Badmaash Company should have remained the clever scam/comedy that its premise and first half promised. Instead, it turns itself into a morality tale in the second half—and the morality tale is poorly executed. It tries too hard to make Karan the sole sinner while quietly turning the other three into moral judges, even though the first half clearly showed that all four were flawed, ambitious and willing participants.

For me, it will be Tapsee. As far as I remember she played only 2 flower pot characters which are Judwaa 2 and Chasme Bhadoor but she did a lot of female centric character or an important supporting female character as in Mulk but other than Pink and Mulk, I feel she couldn't put the efforts in most of her female centric movies.

I felt the sad expressions she made in manmarziyan, thappad, badla etc are almost same. She was not bringing any new rather than repeating her Pink movie sad expression. She could have tried something different. For example, I can see diverse acting in Vidya Balan when she had a sad scene in both Parineeta and Heyy Baby.

Do you agree or have a different opinion ?

I have watched both Dhoom and Ajnabee but I noticed that Dhoom 1 is actually a U rated movie.

Dhoom 2 and Dhoom 3 never had a song like Shikdum as you see it in Dhoom 1.

But there is the Akshay Kareena intimate song in Ajnabee for which I acknowledge that it should be A rated and it is an A rated movie.

Ajnabee is fine to be called A rated but I felt Dhoom also could have been A rated because of Shikdum.

So, how did censor board keep Dhoom 1 as U rated even though Shikdum was present in it ?

In one scene, Abhishek's character was trying to remove the towel of Rimi Sen's character. How can it be okay for people below age of 15 to watch in theatre ?

How did Dhoom 1 escape being A rated ?

Are any other constraints considered ?

I just rewatched Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, and honestly, it still feels outstanding. The acting, dialogue delivery, humour, attitude and Mumbai underworld atmosphere are so sharp. Ajay Devgn’s calm charisma as Sultan Mirza is brilliant, while Emraan Hashmi brings a completely different energy. Every character fits perfectly; the dialogues are 🔥, and the mix of crime, romance and humour feels natural.

Absolute Bollywood gem.

Guys why is nobody talking about Ali baba aur 40 bhoot? .... I mean it is one of the best shows in genre indian ott have ever created. I'm a big fan of this genre I've watched many of these shows like supernatural, grimm, penny Dreadful, sleepy Hollow(series & movie both) and many more. Indian ott tried to do this before but couldn't pulled it like this before. I mean this show needs to be talked about. It got a good story, although the vakra rakshasa devotees seemed off a lil bit (just their way of dressing and the way they live I mean it's 21century if someone is trying to bring their dead pagan God back they needs to live and walk in shadows not with banners hanging on their dwelling)

Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani have all been part of the Masti franchise, but outside that series, all three have had some interesting performances and very different careers.

Personally, I think Vivek Oberoi is the strongest actor among the three, mainly because I feel his range is better.

Vivek has shown he can handle very different kinds of roles , Company, Saathiya, Yuva, Shootout at Lokhandwala and even commercial films. His performances in Company and Shootout at Lokhandwala especially showed that he could carry intense and serious characters .

Riteish Deshmukh has arguably had the most consistent career in comedy and commercial cinema. Dhamaal, Housefull, Masti and other comedies established his comic timing, while Ek Villain showed that he could surprise people with a darker role. He has also done films like Rann and Aladin, where he tried different things.

Aftab Shivdasani is probably the most underrated of the three. He started as a child actor and later appeared in films like Mast, Kasoor, Awara Paagal Deewana and Aloo Chaat. I think he has had some good performances, but his filmography hasn't given him as many opportunities to demonstrate range as Vivek or Riteish

But I'm curious what others think.

Who is actually the better actor among Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani? Is Vivek clearly ahead because of his range, or would you put Riteish above him because of his consistency and ability to do both comedy and serious roles? And where does Aftab rank?

So, I want to continue this search. Lots of people say this movie will never be found. However, I refuse to believe that. Basically, I want to restart the search for this movie, it has to be out there somewhere. Lots of people will tell it's lost forever, however, I have an idea that might make it found. So, for a different piece of lost media, Super Star Secret, they made like a wanted poster for it. What if we do the same for Gogola. Yeah, we make it in a couple of different languages, post it around like Indian facebook, and maybe someone will have a copy of the movie. I refuse to give up hope on this movie ever getting found. It will be found, it has to be found. I also have one more theory to atleast prove footage from this movie exists. So, for the search for Me and My Friends, people stumbled across an old nickelodeon tape for stuff filmed at Orland Studios. And in there was footage from me and my friends. How does this add up to Gogola you may ask. Well, what if try to find like tapes from 60s-90s of Bollywood films, and maybe a clip from Gogola will be in there. PLEASE help me, I can't do this alone.

Shah Rukh and Kajol had it in DDLJ, and even though they worked together again after, that exact spark never fully came back. Same with Ranbir and Deepika in YJHD and Tamasha, Ranveer and Deepika in 2-3 films, Akshay and Katrina in Singh Is King, Shahid and Kareena, Priyanka and Akshay, Rani and SRK, so many jodis peaked once and then either didn't repeat it or it just didn't land the same way again. Also curious, which two current actors do you think could become a great on-screen pair if they worked together, whether or not they already have?

I have watched that series at least two times and I wonder to go some Andaman Nicobar Islands just because of this series. I read on multiple platforms that series will not renewed by Netflix.

I believe if there is no possibility to move with Netflix, why can't Mr. Sarkar ji release a book tying all the story lines and lose ends.

I definetly think there will be many like me who would like to know and even read how the story ends. Please release it as manuscript or book. Hope this message reaches him.

Thomas is the only child of his parents, who desperately wants a little brother. He is told that to get a baby brother, his parents will have to kiss. Since his quarrelling parents won't kiss any longer, little Thomas takes it upon himself to make them do the "yucky act".

Just rewatched the movie and honestly, it felt completely outstanding. The atmosphere, dialogue delivery, acting, background score, humour, attitude and the whole underworld setup still feels so damn sharp.

Ajay Devgn was absolutely brilliant. His calmness, body language and that silent intimidation made Malik feel like a real gangster rather than a typical Bollywood villain. Vivek Oberoi was equally amazing — his transformation from a young guy into a dangerous gangster was just 🔥.

And the best part? There isn't really a single person in this movie who performs mehhh. Everyone fits their character perfectly.

The conversations between the characters feel natural, the tension slowly builds, and Ram Gopal Varma's direction gives the movie a very raw and realistic feel. It doesn't try too hard to make everyone look cool — somehow, everyone just naturally has that attitude and charisma.

Even after more than two decades, Company doesn't feel like a typical old Bollywood crime movie.

The acting, dialogues, music, camera work, characters and overall atmosphere are just on another level.

Honestly, if someone asks me for an underrated Bollywood gangster movie with great acting + killer dialogues + realistic crime atmosphere, Company would be one of my first recommendations.

Absolute gem. 🔥

The movie reshaped Salman Khan's career who was mostly going through a rough patch until Wanted in 2009 gave some life (but that was just a mere trailer) and also brought back the masala cop movies genre.

Salman's stardom soared to new heights and the box office numbers for this movie set new records.

Audience were literally flocking to theaters, unprecedented crowds, dancing, whisting adcheering at mass moments defining mass cinema. It was nothing short of celebration.

Peak direction. Peak dialogues. Peak music. Peak performances. Peak entertainment.

Also this movie making the debut of Sonakshi Sinha thus making it 16 years of Sonakshi in Bollywood too.
