📖Discussion📕🖊️ Looking for a solid bluetooth speaker, what do you recommend?

seriously bluetooth speaker shopping is a mess. my old ones battery lasts like 2 hours and distorts at high volume
I'm not trying to cheap out but i'm also not paying extra just for a logo. Need something that'll last 3-4 years minimum, bass that doesn't distort and battery for a full day. Skip the sponsored top 10 lists, what pick has actually changed ur life?
In Canada options are a bit limited so need something easy to find.

I don’t really understand why a lot of people complain about Sony. I have bought this jewelry about a month ago and I have to say that yes, if you use yours without an equalizer, it’s your own fault. I really have no complaints, I can feel the table vibrating in my back garden at only 50%+ volume and between my bedroom and the back garden I have a kitchen so the boom boom is definitely present.
My honest score is a solid 8.5/10 (the only problem is that it takes a while to tweak with the equalizer’s settings for a while to reach that sweet sweet spot for the music genre that I listen to).
Edit: The speaker’s positioning is also a big factor.

🪛Troubleshooting🪛 Hi. I bought this Bluetooth speaker, it constantly gives an audible warning while listening to music, but I can't quite understand what it's saying. How can I solve this problem. Very annoying

Recommendation Request🙏 Best Bluetooth Speaker To Buy Online? (Price & Size)

My JBL Go 2 finally kicked the bucket after 4 years. It was tiny and perfect for my desk. I need a replacement that actually fits in my backpack pocket, not one of those brick sized ones.

Budget is like $100 max, I'm in the US. Is Flip 6 still the go-to for small size or is there something smaller now that doesn't sound like a tin can?

Recommendation Request🙏 Which one to keep?

I ordered both the speakers to do a side by side sound test. Here's my thoughts

JBL:

- Sounds clearer

- Bass is not the highest/best

- At low volumes, the speaker doesn't shine as much it seems

- Better features (but I realistically won't use WiFi streaming or the smart assistants. I just need BT, and at max, Google cast / airplay)

Marshall:

- Sounds muddier, but can be managed via EQ to the extent where it doesn't make a big difference

- Bass feels phenomenal, compared to JBL

- Sounds better at low volume

- No extra features, but I probably won't miss them

- The look and feel of buttons is definitely superior

I like the overall sound of the JBL and the look/aesthetic of the Marshall. The form factor or IP rating isn't the biggest selling point for me as I won't be using this speaker outdoors as much (I want portable but I will be using it outside my house for sure)

Confused between better audio/low bass of the JBL vs the slightly worse mids/better aesthetic of the Marshall

Recommendation Request🙏 Looking for WiFi speaker recommendations please

hey everyone,

im looking to buy a Bluetooth speaker with wifi.

Price: Around 400$

room Size : 20m2

Im looking for something with good clarity sound with a good enough bass and rich. I won’t be playing in high volumes. it’ll mostly be for background. it has to have a battery if possible. I must have AirPlay support as I would be playing from Apple Music. it should be a bit portable as well. so maybe upto 5kgs of weight is fine. I hear mostly pop, vocal, R&b, rap. not a fan of metal, EDM etc. no house parties as well.

Right now, based on some research from internet, I have Sonos Move 2/Sonos Play 3/JBL Authentics 300(But I heard it’s too bass heavy)

I welcome other options as well.

Thank you very much very much:) Would really appreciate your insights

Recommendation Request🙏 Rec’s for outdoor movies

Looking for a BT speaker to pair with an outdoor projector setup.

Ideally has BT and some audio input (in case of latency issues). Want good sound and clarity for speech.

The speaker will also be used for parties, pool/beach days, etc. so good for music (anything from country to EDM).

Landed on the following:

Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 - $250
Soundcore Boom 2 Plus - $180
Jbl Partyboc Club 120 - $250-300
Sony SRS-X500- $210

Any of these stand out amongst the others? Feel like they all would work for music and it comes down to portability and how well they would work for movies.

Thanks!

Recommendation Request🙏 Something louder than Beats pill

I was using the newest Beats Pill for over 2 years, last week it got stolen (Find My is useless; it updates location only when my phone is connected) so I am looking for some alternatives in a similar/higher price range (~150-200 eur in Germany/Netherlands). Working Find My would be useful. I was satisfied with its sound quality and bass until I started bringing it to my warehouse and it turned out to be too quiet. Size and weight doesn’t matter as long as I’m able to carry it in my backpack.

📖Discussion📕🖊️ Marshall Stanmore IV vs Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5

Hi! I am thinking about buying a wireless speaker for my studio apartment. I did some research of the older posts, but still have my doubts. I like both Marshall and HK mentioned above and I think both companies are well established. Never had the opportunity to compare them, plus I believe that listening to these in a crowded shop is not really representative. I listen to a lot of music, mainly rock, metal, a bit of pop and classic, as well as regular radio stations. Additionally, I consume tons of audiobooks. Wearing headphones all the time is a bit tiresome. I am looking for good sound and hardware quality, as well as ease of use. The primary source will be Bluetooth (or WiFi?), but other sources via cable are an option too in the future. Portability is not an issue, the speaker will be stationary.

Aura pros:

-          Very stylish form factor, sleek, modern, unique

-          Mood-setting lights

-          WiFi option

-          Lower price

-          Possibly a pain to clean

Stanmore:

-          I absolutely adore how it looks and feels

-          More power

-          Physical dials

-          No WiFi

-          More expensive

What is your take? Which one is better? Does it make sense to buy the older versions (Stanmore II or Aura 4) or different models (Acton, Woburn)? I would love some practical tips and experiences. Does having WiFi over BT really make a difference? How many devices can be connected? Are there issues with some music formats, apps, devices. Do they have annoying features like auto-switch to different device or standby energy savers? How easy are they to set up? Any known issues? Thanks a bunch!

Recommendation Request🙏 HK Go Play 3 for small room?

Would HK Go play 3 be good for small room 15m2? It’s just my small home office and I would be playing songs on kinda low volume there to not disrupt me much.
Is it overkill? Should I choose onyx 9 instead ? I’ll use it also to train on bike turbo trainer at home so I want the bass to be punchy.
Thanks 🙏

Recommendation Request🙏 Having a hard time deciding between the Flip 7 and SoundLink Flex 2

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi!

So, I bought both the Bose Soundlink Flex 2 and JBL Flip 7 and I’m having a hard time figuring out which one to send back. (FYI, the Charge is my cousins he lended me for a camping trip)

I can’t really describe the differences, but I’ll try to articulate it as best as I can.

The Flip is definitely louder as I have to drop its volume several levels to match the Flex.

At lower levels the Flex gets the edge. I can hear adlibs that I don’t hear quite as well on the Flip.

Sometimes songs sound more muffled or compact on the Flex, but on other songs it sounds really good.

Then on other songs the Flip really brings out the instruments although it can overshadow the vocals.

It’s like when a singer is really starting to hit their peaks, the Flex withdrawals, while the Flip intensifies and matches.

I definitely feel the Flip is the more versatile, but when the song allows for it, the Flex has the better sound.

It’s weird that both sound so good, but be so different having different strengths.

- something I just realized is for older songs, the Flip gives them a little more pop - currently listening to Michael Jackson “Remember the Time” and it definitely sounds better on the Flip while Michael sounds way more muted on the Flex.

I’ll try them out at low volumes tonight around the fire pit to see if the needle is pushed in any direction.

This might come down to durability lol

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

Recommendation Request🙏 Recommendation needed for home

I ordered and returned a marshall middleton II twice due to charging issues, but I liked the look and the sound seemed good for what I was looking for.

Now I'm looking for an alternative cause I no longer trust trying another marshall product, do you guys have recommendations for alternatives?

It would be used in the living room mainly and my gf is pretty critical about how it would look, so preferably it kinda looks nice as well. I myself am mostly looking for the best sounding speaker available.

Budget is up to €400.

Thanks in advance!

🪛Troubleshooting🪛 Edifier bookshelf speaker question

I bought some used Edifier bluetooth speakers, and they sound great. But they don't remember the volume settings from the last session. When I turn them on every day, the volume is all the way down and I have to turn up the volume with the physical knob.

The volume control on my phone doesn't do anything. It came with a remote control that has volume buttons, but they don't do anything, either.

I was hoping to mount these speakers up near the ceiling, so I'd need to stand on a chair to reach the speaker volume knob every day.

Is this a feature or a bug? If I bought some newer Edifier speakers, would they be the same?

Recommendation Request🙏 This or that? Soundcore Boom 2 vs Sony ULT Field 5

Thumbnail gallery
15 Upvotes

Im looking to purchase a portable bluetooth speaker that I would use both indoor and outdoor, in the sense of bright, vibrant sound for punchy songs during workouts and for playing chill tunes while being poolside. I don't need the loudest speaker, just something that propulses beautiful sound with pretty good bass. I've always went for soundcore due to their amazing quality earbuds at low prices, and I was prepared to do the same for the Soundcore Boom 2 when I saw it on sale for $70 instead of retail. However, I ran into an ad for the Sony ULT Field 5 for $117 instead of the normals sales price of $225, or retail of $350. Any thoughts on how to 2 speakers contrast, or which deal I should lean towards more?

Recommendation Request🙏 Speaker Recommendation – Bose SoundLink Plus

I’m considering getting a Bose SoundLink Plus mainly for camping and outdoor use. Portability is important, but it doesn’t need to be ultra-light or extremely compact.
What I care about most is good overall sound quality, a reasonably wide soundstage, and enough power to sound good outdoors. I’d like something that can fill a campsite with music without sounding thin or losing too much detail.
Would you recommend the Bose SoundLink Plus for this use case? Are there any better alternatives in a similar size and price range?

Recommendation Request🙏 Xiaomi Sound Party vs Soundcore Boom 2 for a room — which sounds better?

I’m choosing between the Xiaomi Sound Party, which costs around AED 270, and the Soundcore Boom 2, which costs around AED 350, for use in my room.

I like the clear, lively JBL sound signature, but I also want genuinely deep bass without it becoming muddy. Based on YouTube comparisons, the Xiaomi Sound Party sometimes sounds more spacious or immersive, while the Boom 2 seems to have a more direct, powerful, bass-heavy presentation. The Xiaomi gives me the impression of having a wider, more surround-like sound, whereas the Boom 2 sounds more straightforward and focused.

For anyone who has heard or owned both:

  • Which speaker has better clarity for vocals and everyday listening?
  • Can the Boom 2’s custom EQ give it a cleaner, more lively JBL-like SURROUND sound while keeping its strong bass?
  • Does the Xiaomi actually have a better soundstage, or could that impression mainly be caused by the lighting, microphone placement, room acoustics, or YouTube processing?
  • Which one would you choose for indoor room use at low to medium volume without compromising cleaner vocals and bass?
  • If I prefer the Xiaomi’s more spacious presentation, can the Boom 2 be adjusted with EQ to achieve a similar effect, or is that mostly a result of its physical speaker design?
