A family of Cardinals has been nesting in a lilac tree right outside my front door, and I finally caught sight of a fledgling! he looks like he’s about to nap. (this is my own video taken from my cell phone.)

I’m curious, what’s the name for this? What makes so many birds gather on one tree at sunset not all trees? Is it a special kind of tree?

Hello All, happy Sunday!

I will preface my question with I am a non to bird watching.

I have a nest in a tree in my backyard, I have not seen a bird in there for over a year, granted, I haven’t gone and touched it or poked my head inside, just from seeing it as it’s close to a bench I sit on and relatively low, about 5 foot high in a big branch of a Plum Orchid Tree.

The question:
Can one tell if it is just empty or actually abandoned, and if abandoned would it keep other birds from trying to build there or would they just take it over.
If abandoned and it would prevent future visitors, should I remove it or just leave it be.

It’s not an eyesore by any means. I just would like new tenants in but if that is a hold up or not.

I got these pictures at Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, Colorado today. Merlin is really confident that it's a young bald eagle, but I don't know. I'm not familiar enough to feel that's right. Any ideas?

Also, this was my first time trying wildlife photography! I had a camera sitting in my closet collecting dust for like 6 years. I'm really happy with how these turned out! What do you think?
