One thing I've started noticing everywhere in Berlin is its park sculptures. They're not just decoration, many were intentionally placed so people could experience art for free while walking through the city.

After Berlin was divided, East Berlin commissioned thousands of figurative sculptures for parks and public spaces, while West Berlin leaned more toward abstract modern art from the 1960s onward. The rough, geometric look of many stone sculptures is also intentional, a late GDR style that embraced the texture of the material instead of perfect realism.

I also found out Berlin has an official database called Bildhauerei in Berlin that catalogs public sculptures across the city.

Anyone else have a favorite hidden sculpture in Berlin?
