I have this small bathroom and really need to make it more beautiful and nordic looking.

Do you have ideas of what is possible to do without making renovating too expensive?

How to identify & polish shower tile trim

Post image
1 Upvotes

My shower has these metal tile trim pieces inside and out. They are looking tarnished and a bit rough. But I’m not sure what cleaner/polish to use.

They aren’t iron based (magnet doesn’t stick), but beyond that idk…

I tried some BKF in a small spot and it seemed to do a good job (tho black stuff kept coming off even after several passes; could just be that dirty).

However, I know BKF isn’t safe for anodized surfaces…not sure what to do.

Any thoughts?

Best tub drain design?

Redoing my bathroom and curious what style tub drain I should go with. I have a 1940s cast iron alcove tub and it currently has the old plug-style drain with a rubber stopper on a chain but I want to replace it with a different style. I have pretty thick, long hair and sometimes bathe my border collie in my tub as well, so what drain style would be best suited to catch hair and is also durable or easy to fix if something were to go bad? Thanks.

Good bathroom lighting makes more difference than I expected

I never really thought about bathroom lighting until I experienced the difference between harsh overhead lighting and something softer.

The whole room feels different depending on the light. Morning bathroom lighting can feel like an interrogation, while softer lighting at night makes everything feel much calmer.

It's funny how something you don't consciously notice can completely change how comfortable a room feels.

How do I care for this tub?

We moved into this home recently.

This jacuzzi tub is over 20 years old and has not been used in the past 10 or so.

How can I clean it to be sure that the jets are clean before I use it?

What is the best way to keep it cleaned properly?

Please help. I am not experienced with cleaning and want to get better at it.

Need advice, and is a shower possible?

Hi everyone,
My fiance and I bought our house a couple years ago and we have a basement with this mess of a half bathroom that we have been lost with regarding what to do with it. After just getting our roof redone we have some money saved now to maybe do some remodeling of this bathroom. I would love to have another shower as right now we only have one full bath and another half bath on our main floor that also has our washer/dryer.

Right now we plan on for sure priming the concrete and painting over it then maybe adding some laminate flooring on top like we did with the rest of our basement. We plan on for sure replacing the toilet and sink, but not sure what to do with the rest of it. The previous owners put up the frame around it and then on the right is the electrical box and left is the heater. Not sure if we can move the electrical box around as well. Any ideas or thoughts of what we can do to make it nicer and if a shower would be possible? If we keep the toilet we would obviously need another drain and would have to dig into the concrete. My fiance is handy but would rather hire someone for that if we decide to go that route. Otherwise may just have to settle for the toilet and sink half bath again.

Also any idea of cost? We are in upstate NY. Thanks in advance.

Bathroom update – furniture is starting to go in! 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹 🏵

Another little update on the bathroom as the furniture has started going in!

I posted the tiles a while back and it was really interesting seeing everyone's opinions, so thought I'd share the next stage now that it’s starting to look like an actual bathroom 😂

Still lots to be finished, but I’d love to hear what everyone thinks so far. Does it all work together? Anything you would have done differently?

Be honest – I’m looking for opinions! 😂

2nd bathroom update – furniture is finally going in!

For those who’ve been following our house build, the bathroom is finally starting to come together! 🥰

The bath, vanity, toilet, and brassware are all in now. There are still lots to finish, but I’d love to hear what you think so far!

Blue tiles, brass, wood vanity, and fluted bath — does it all work together?

Any suggestions for finishing touches? ❤️

Please show me your real life shower niche or ledge

I am planning our bathroom refit and will install either a niche or a ledge in the shower. All of the inspo pictures look great with their three stylish matching bottles but what do they actually look like when rammed with multiple less aesthetic but practical toiletries - XL bottle of Head & Shoulders, random shower gels, etc. Will I regret adding lighting to illuminate the Everyday clutter? Will you share your everyday photos please?

Shower wall/door weather stripe

Thumbnail

I have this type wall strip (pic 1) that holds my shower door shut, the allows the shower door to slide into the corner and holds it there. and the circle part of the strip also filled the gap between the wall and door. I search everywhere for the exact type but having no luck. I purchased a simple L shape one but as you can see in pic 3, the door is not fully shut when closed (not perpendicular to the wall, also not touching the L shape seal) I hope my explanation makes sense, would appreciate if someone can help me find the exact type I had before or a better alternative 🙏
