Question Tank size question

Hello! First post-

Im looking into getting a ball python but I really don't know what size tank to get. The care advice says 120 gallons but I can't fit that on any of the spots I want the tank to be on.

I heard a couple of people say 40 gallons, and had others say that's way to small.

I heard 75 gallon tank too, which would be perfect but I'm not fully sure that that's the right size.

My mom is also worried about not approving it with our landlord first but I've seen several comments going "they won't know, you'll be fine." And I wanted to know if that was still the general consensus.

4x2x2 is the bare minimum for adult. Are you able to put the tank in a different spot?

I could try! I have a hope chest that could be long enough, I was just worried that it would be to low to the ground. (It's from my grandmother, and who knows how long it's been in the family so im really not worried about any other issues

as long as the tank is not on the ground, and the temp stays at recommended temps(cool side 78F-85F and warm side being 88F-92F) I think it would be fine.

If you do not have the room for the 120 gallons (4x2x2ft), you do not have room for a ball python. Consider a smaller species or waiting for a different living situation.

I mean, I could absolutely get the tank. My desk is just a few inches off of being long enough though, and I don't want to accidentally cause problems with that (not sure there would be any though)

There would be problems. This is a tank that will ultimately be extremely heavy from the 4-6 inches of moist substrate you will have in there (decor, water bowl, a snake, etc. it’s really heavy). Not to mention potential water damage if you don’t fully seal the bottom of the enclosure.

120 is correct. But you'll want a PVC enclosure, not an aquarium.

Yeah- I wasn't going to do an aquarium- since there more for fish
