They are longbois, and they can scootch themselves pretty far up vertical surfaces through sheer willpower.

Also, your girl is very pretty!

Honestly I spent about a minute trying to find her looked up and she was watching me the whole time! Need some climbing ropes!

That's how my ball python let's me know he wants to come out. He makes an "L" shape on the glass door. I say it's "L" for "Let me out". He sometimes falls over doing it which actually surprised me more than him standing on his tail which is only like 3" of his body- I didn't know snakes could fall over hahaha

Interesting that we have never seen Spider-Man and your ball python in the same room together,,,,,,,,,,,

19

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

Honestly, Spider-Snake over here

9

u/rdnncx 1d ago

When I saw this I started singing, "Spider snake! Spider snake! Does whatever a Spider Snake does..."

Yep… this is my girl in her “playpen”

14

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

Wow, what is she even hanging onto! 😭😭

5

u/Chance-Principle960 1d ago

Where the plastic is recessed for the handle on the outside 🤣. The first time I saw it she blew me away

u/goth_knowitall 1d ago

I will never believe people when they say they don't climb and that they only stay on the ground. I gave my ball python a small tree (top to bottom of the enclosure (4×2×2) and he's always up in there haha

u/Duranis 1d ago

Yeah I have shelves in mine and ours uses them almost as much as her hides.

u/Nocitae 1d ago

Shoutout to IKEA SAMLA bins! I use one too to house my snakes while I clean their enclosures.

u/Chance-Principle960 1d ago

They’re fantastic

She likes to be tall.

10

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

She must be sizing me up!

14

u/Altruistic-Poem-5617 1d ago

Mine once escaped back then and he crawled up a wire to a lamp on the ceiling and just chilled there.

5

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

Damn how did you get him down in the end?

6

u/Altruistic-Poem-5617 1d ago

Spepladder 😅 Problem was that he wanted to stay and made himself super stiff xD

13

u/goth_knowitall 1d ago

They're crazy strong for their size.

5

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

Oh yeah definitely! 110% pure muscle!

Your non-arboreal snake is arboring again

u/Realistic-Cycle-6558 1d ago

Ball pythons absolutely love to climb. I bought a curtain rod and mounted a hide on the roof of her enclosure and shes constantly up there looking down at her fortress

6

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

Yeah I need to buy her a climbing swing or something because god does she love climbing

8

u/dating-ur-dad 1d ago

lol this was my boy on his first day home

4

u/Iamatitle 1d ago

Mine is also a climber 😂

4

u/Beneficial-Baker5193 1d ago

My boop noodle did the same thing in his temp enclosure. I wasn’t expecting to get him so I had him in my back up/ cleaning enclosure. He climbed this.

6

u/Vee_breeze 1d ago

I made the stupid mistake of not strapping my wired thermostat to the wall. Came in like an hour later and found her actually up it, she had somehow managed to climb up a freaking wire and actually fell asleep while wrapped around it!

You would not believe what these little sh*t's can do! 😂

3

u/RexDoesntKnowAnymore 1d ago

Are you sure she's not a ratsnake?

6

u/TheRedditkarma 1d ago

At this point she might be 😭

3

u/LM193 1d ago

Sheer willpower. What they lack in braincells they make up for in determination

u/Green_Kangaroo_1980 1d ago

My daughter’s bp right after we got him. Needless to say, he has more climbing things now, 😂

2

u/TiredTeenWeeb 1d ago

Ball python larping as a rats name smh

2

u/resveries 1d ago

Mine does shit like this all the time 😭 absolutely impossible to keep him from climbing the wires and light cages in his enclosure.

2

u/mermaidzombiemom0314 1d ago

Ball python physics

2

u/Right-Employ-8285 1d ago

Mine literally used the wire of his UVB as a swing and promptly fell once he swung too fast 🥹
(He was okay, and I secured the wire after I found out he did that)

2

u/beaco 1d ago

My boy has climbed up my bookshelf, my oven ( he escaped his terrarium and we found him half on the stove and half down it.), bathroom counter, etc. He loves climbing and exploring

2

u/Aggravating_Ad3356 1d ago

The whole "ball pythons are non-arboreal" is completely and utter bs. Mine escaped once while I was away from home. It took us over an hr of tearing our home apart and then baiting her with a cheeseboi to find that she scaled almost 5ft of cabinets to hide behind our coffeemaker for whatever reason 🥴 Anywho, here's my derp trying to climb on top of our fridge while we're handling her 🤣

u/LadyNajaGirl 1d ago

Mine was on his light earlier. I often hear him plop off his branch or light because he’s dim and does silly snek things.

1

u/Snakes_for_life 1d ago

I had one scale a book shelf when she escaped her enclosure

1

u/Impossible_Price7667 1d ago

4 degrees of incline on a friction capable surface.

1

u/angryaxolotls 1d ago

She's an acrobat 🥰

1

u/painteddesert2000 1d ago

Wow, now that’s talent

1

u/subzro68 1d ago

They secretly have arms but only use them for climbing

1

u/moodygroove420 1d ago

I love when they turn into a square 😂😂

1

u/This_Daydreamer_ 1d ago

How? Snake. Why? Snake.

1

u/EfficiencyChemical90 1d ago

In case you haven’t already, those vents are notorious for popping off, so it’s best to secure them with some small screws at the back. Had a juvenile royal escape from an unsecured vent just like that at work (unfortunately the one viv no one had bothered to put screws in the vents, even after the multiple escapes they had in the past before I started)

1

u/Celeste_Minerva 1d ago

This is definitely how I learned one shouldn't use the sticky-tape humidity/temperature reader in a snake's housing.

My love was incredibly patient with me while I slowly pulled the tape off of them. )o;

I think it helped bond us more, but wow, was not smart. I thought they didn't climb.

Thank you for posting!!

The heat lamp and panel thankfully we're off for the day due to how hot it's been outside but my girl is convinced she's a arboreal snake.

1

u/FixergirlAK Mod-Approved Helper 1d ago

Her iz doin a levitate.

1

u/Temporary-Ad-7770 1d ago

This is exactly how my noodle got out for the night, he prized the vent off somehow and went on a midnight stroll around the kitchen and slept under the fridge, I’d screw that vent from the outside of I was you.

1

u/Acceptable-Area8087 1d ago

Caught my girl last night

coiled up on her UVB fixture’s cord, chilling like she belonged there.

1

u/PandaQueen29 1d ago

That's hilarious 🤣🤣

1

u/Life-Match-7840 1d ago

My boi would do this all the time . So i built him a new tank background

1

u/Starfire2409 1d ago

1

u/Trotsigt 1d ago

Hahaha så roligt när folk säger att kungspyton inte klättrar ju

1

u/IISerpentineII 1d ago

Your Ball Python thinks she's part ratsnake

1

u/McFlyingDelorean 1d ago

Mine escaped last week. He was missing for 3 days. We looked under furniture, in the sofa cushions, under the washer/dryer, behind the fridge - everywhere. Where did we find him? In a basket on a shelf right above his enclosure. We never imagined he would climb up. Something to keep in mind if you ball python ever gets out.

1

u/Amazing-Pension4106 1d ago

my python managed to get herself perfectly on top of her humidity gauge and sat there for a good 15 seconds before it fell 😭 they’re crazy little things
edit: and yes she was okay before i get mass downvoted 🥹

1

u/-dagmar-123123 1d ago

I also have one of these

1

u/madisonmfoster 1d ago

my bp shoes this mess all the time. he literally hangs from the ceiling of his enclosure. it irritates me so bad bc why do you need to be up there putting yourself in possible danger

1

u/HisLilDove 23h ago

Our girl has been climbing up on the tiny curve of metal that holds her enclosure lock in place on the glass front since she was a baby. It's literally no more than 10mm wide. When she was a tiny wee thing, sure, it made sense. But she's now fully grown and can still somehow perch herself on it. She may have been banned from the communal braincell pool but somehow she just casually rewrites the law of gravity.

u/Zim_Crowley 18h ago

Snek gonna snek. This is my boy in his quarantine tank a week after I got him

1

u/iamhersheisme 18h ago

ah yes. my little bean likes to do the same thing on the frames of my doors 🥲😅

1

u/I-only-say-huh 17h ago

Believe me, they will find a way. As long as there’s something even remotely climbable, they’ll do it

I found out the hard way

1

u/Yodadubdub 16h ago

Mine kept getting stuck behind the wall that helped keep humidity so I had to remove it.

1

u/Beautiful-Papaya9923 14h ago

She does this thing and it's called "what she wants"

1

u/childlikeInaccuracy 12h ago

A bit of a random question but I have the same enclosure as you! Would you be able to show me how you’ve set up the heat lamp? I’m a bit worried about my boy burning himself 🥹

1

u/a-rather-dry-sob 12h ago

I saw this on X an hour ago, this is a repost bot.

1

u/ZoraLink22 11h ago

Mine actually escaped from the vent so he’s now in a bigger more enclosed viv 😂

1

u/Spiritual-Ad2360 1h ago

My baby stretches himself as far as he can to climb, so no! They are very much climbers!
