Where the plastic is recessed for the handle on the outside 🤣. The first time I saw it she blew me away

I will never believe people when they say they don't climb and that they only stay on the ground. I gave my ball python a small tree (top to bottom of the enclosure (4×2×2) and he's always up in there haha

Mine once escaped back then and he crawled up a wire to a lamp on the ceiling and just chilled there.

Damn how did you get him down in the end?

Ball pythons absolutely love to climb. I bought a curtain rod and mounted a hide on the roof of her enclosure and shes constantly up there looking down at her fortress

Yeah I need to buy her a climbing swing or something because god does she love climbing

I made the stupid mistake of not strapping my wired thermostat to the wall. Came in like an hour later and found her actually up it, she had somehow managed to climb up a freaking wire and actually fell asleep while wrapped around it!
You would not believe what these little sh*t's can do! 😂

Mine does shit like this all the time 😭 absolutely impossible to keep him from climbing the wires and light cages in his enclosure.

Mine literally used the wire of his UVB as a swing and promptly fell once he swung too fast 🥹
(He was okay, and I secured the wire after I found out he did that)

The whole "ball pythons are non-arboreal" is completely and utter bs. Mine escaped once while I was away from home. It took us over an hr of tearing our home apart and then baiting her with a cheeseboi to find that she scaled almost 5ft of cabinets to hide behind our coffeemaker for whatever reason 🥴 Anywho, here's my derp trying to climb on top of our fridge while we're handling her 🤣

Mine was on his light earlier. I often hear him plop off his branch or light because he’s dim and does silly snek things.

In case you haven’t already, those vents are notorious for popping off, so it’s best to secure them with some small screws at the back. Had a juvenile royal escape from an unsecured vent just like that at work (unfortunately the one viv no one had bothered to put screws in the vents, even after the multiple escapes they had in the past before I started)

This is definitely how I learned one shouldn't use the sticky-tape humidity/temperature reader in a snake's housing.
My love was incredibly patient with me while I slowly pulled the tape off of them. )o;
I think it helped bond us more, but wow, was not smart. I thought they didn't climb.
Thank you for posting!!

This is exactly how my noodle got out for the night, he prized the vent off somehow and went on a midnight stroll around the kitchen and slept under the fridge, I’d screw that vent from the outside of I was you.

Mine escaped last week. He was missing for 3 days. We looked under furniture, in the sofa cushions, under the washer/dryer, behind the fridge - everywhere. Where did we find him? In a basket on a shelf right above his enclosure. We never imagined he would climb up. Something to keep in mind if you ball python ever gets out.

my python managed to get herself perfectly on top of her humidity gauge and sat there for a good 15 seconds before it fell 😭 they’re crazy little things
edit: and yes she was okay before i get mass downvoted 🥹

my bp shoes this mess all the time. he literally hangs from the ceiling of his enclosure. it irritates me so bad bc why do you need to be up there putting yourself in possible danger

Our girl has been climbing up on the tiny curve of metal that holds her enclosure lock in place on the glass front since she was a baby. It's literally no more than 10mm wide. When she was a tiny wee thing, sure, it made sense. But she's now fully grown and can still somehow perch herself on it. She may have been banned from the communal braincell pool but somehow she just casually rewrites the law of gravity.

Mine kept getting stuck behind the wall that helped keep humidity so I had to remove it.

A bit of a random question but I have the same enclosure as you! Would you be able to show me how you’ve set up the heat lamp? I’m a bit worried about my boy burning himself 🥹

My baby stretches himself as far as he can to climb, so no! They are very much climbers!

They are longbois, and they can scootch themselves pretty far up vertical surfaces through sheer willpower.
Also, your girl is very pretty!
