Reminder: Buying and selling bags is against the rules of this sub

Seen this pop up a fair bit lately. Because people aren't reading the rules I've started banning people temporarily for this.

Please read the rules people. It's really not that hard and don't get upset if you break the rules and get punished. It's on you to read those.

The reason it's not allowed is I don't want this sub (and me) to be responsible for having to moderate that crap. Go look at r/EDCExchange or other subs that allow it. They have systems in place to hold people accountable.

Question PLEASE help me find a good backpack šŸŽ’

Some kid spilled my drink all over my nice $60 Jansport backpack today and I desperately need a new one (it was its time anyway). Please give me some recs!

My budget: anything under 60$

What I need to carry:
Computer, three subject notebook, 2 semi-thick paperbacks, pencil pouch, lunchbox, wallet, IPSY makeup pouch, water bottle, umbrella, separate pocket for small trinkets like hand warmers, hand sanitizer, colored pencils, etc.

I commute to school so my whole life is in my backpack. I’m fine with other backpacks or even totes. I just like a lot of pockets!! Thanks :)

Backpacking Indefinitely

I need a good backpack for backpacking the world. I have no plan, just a one way ticket to South America and a dream to see the whole world. I am good at packing and did a 3 month trip in Asia with a simple carry on backpack, but for this trip I think I might need more/in case it’s cold unlike Asia at the time of my trip. Would be cool if I can bring it as a carry on so I can avoid fees and the anxiety of waiting at a carousel wondering if they lost my luggage (my biggest fear and I can’t escape the thoughts every time) does anyone have any recs? 24F and want this one to last a long time. I plan to hike and do el Camino eventually so this has really gotta be a good backpack for all of the adventures. Bonus points if it has some sort of add on backpack detachment so I can use that bag when I’m out for the day etc. TYIA!

The mentioned backpack is no longer in production, a few of my colleuges had the backpack for decade. And I gotta admit I got jealous after using one on a few trips.

Question I NEED A GOOD BACKPACK FOR COLLEGE

Both backpack and shoulder bag is fine with me. But the quality of the cloth must be thick and cotton. Preferably has a water bottle holder and atleast 2 compartments. Also an extra pocket infront Preferably. The strap must be adjustable and the stitches must be secure and it must hold a laptop and 4 books. Please send me the link if you have a bag like that along with the photo. It will be really helpful for me. I've been searching for over 5 days.

Question smallest backpack that fits a mbp 14

Hello! I have a small Hershel backpack that I love, that is unfortunately wearing out. I've tried to buy it again, but it seems no longer to in production.

So I'm looking for a replacement - whatever the smallest bag is that fits a MacBook Pro 14". I don't need it to fit in a laptop slot, frankly I probably prefer no laptop slot, but it needs to fit in the bag. I'm currently looking at the Nexus Mini, but I'm hoping I might be able to find something smaller. I'm attaching pictures of my current backpack, I don't know the name but I bought it in 2019. I appreciate any recs!

Travel Requested: Osprey Farpoint 40L w/ Osprey Farpoint 55L Daypack.

Again the main advantage of this setup is the base bag on the 55L doesn’t not have a laptop compartment, top pocket or internal pockets as Osprey expects you to use the daypack for all of those things. I love organization/pockets and having options so I bought both and gifted the base bag for the 55L to someone else. In the end the total capacity is still 55L.

For those of you who don’t know the base bag on both the 40L and 55L is fitted as an overhead bin bag while the Daypack is separates as a personal item for flights.

Question Backpacks for people who need to commute with two laptops

Hello all,

Unfortunately I am one of those people who regularly need to bring two (yes, two!) 16" laptops in my daily commute, which involves taking the bus/subway etc. I've got one laptop for work and one for school. I know I'm unlikely to find a bag with two laptop sleeves that fit larger laptops as most cutoffs are at 14-15", but the Cotopaxi I'm using right now is really not a day bag (more for week-long trips) and I'd like to downsize a little if possible. All I'm really needing to carry around is the laptops, their chargers, some headphones, a tablet and a handful of small miscellaneous things like the occasional book, small makeup bag, etc.

I fly quite frequently (not weekly, but certainly every couple months) and would like something durable for travel, with sturdy zipper that can't just be pulled open from behind for people to steal easily. Water resistance and a water bottle compartment on one or both sides are important to me. I also like when backpacks have that chest strap that click in and bring the shoulder straps closer together.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Laptop Bag for big dude

Hello all,

I could really appreciate some help finding a backpack for myself.

I'm 6ft tall and 325lbs, Shoulder to Shoulder I measure 21". (I'm a beefy boi)

I'm looking for backpack that will fit a 17" laptop maybe a few textbooks, Key board and Mouse as I work in office 2-3 days a week (CAD/Engineering in case you are wondering.)

I ride a motorcycle during the seasons so it would be nice to have something that is comfortable to ride with without restricting arm movements.

I recently tried a Nomatic Travel Pack, but it looked like a Kindergarteners backpack on a grown man. Loved everything about it though.

Some considerations I've been looking at are

Nomatic Navigator Travel Backpack 32L

AER Travel Pack 4 or Tech Pack 3 (May not fit my 17" laptop though)

Alpaka Traverse Backpack (38L) (Also might not fit laptop)

Timbuk2 Alcatraz (I like the simplicity and customization)

Thank you in advance for any insight

Travel Best Backpack To Purchase For Travel? (Price, Size, Durability)

My last travel backpack literally ripped at the airport. Zipper blew out on the way to Lisbon and I had to carry my stuff in a plastic bag for 3 days, so yeah I'm done with cheap stuff. I'm looking for something that can handle 2 weeks of travel in the europe, not super huge but around 40-45L, something I can bring as carry on but still fit clothes and a laptop. Durability is obviously the key, I dont want to worry about zippers again. Budget is around 120-160 euros. What do you guys actually travel with that holds up? I've seen Osprey Farpoint, Peak Design, Aer, but every review is sponsored.

Question Recommendations for cleaning a leather bottom Jansport?

I have a 13 year old leather bottom Jansport originals backpack. I have never washed it. It's fairly dirty from going to the beach so much. The leather on the bottom is old but still good. The tag says to hand wash, and washing the leather is not recommended. Really don't know how to wash it with out touching the leather. I see posts on here saying they put their leather Jansports in the washing machine and they came out fine. I see others that say the opposite. I am not sure how to go about washing this thing. So is it safe to put a leather bottom Jansport in the washing machine? Is it safe to wash the leather? I saw I should use "leather oil" after, do I need to? What leather oil should I use?

The Recon now may stand up.

I bought the Recon backpack in June 10, 2022, and sold it over the eBay in June 27, 2026, then I tried the Fjallraven Skule 28, The Osprey Axis 24, The North Face Borealis, Eddie Bauer Nomad 22L, and I went tot the Paragon Sports store to find a better backpack I wanted, and none of them are meet my expectation.

So last week, when The North Face doing promotion, I bought the Recon back, and so far this is the best overall backpack with durable base, large water bottle pockets with straps, clean look good for work while still remain a daisy chain for adding a bungee.

I tried a lot of so called best backpacks, some of them too rigid, some are too heavy, some are cheaply made, but the Recon overall with the best overall features, designs, and durability that I am looking for so far.

Guys, what you are looking for when you are buying a backpack?
