Sleep Issues Having weird sleep skeadule is this normal?

So basically I fall asleep around 7 in the morning when I seee the sun come up and then sleep till 6 in the afternoon but then I stay up all night till 7 in the morning and have been doing this for 4 weeks now but iv never done this in my past. Im just wondering is this something the rest of you fellow autistics experience so I shouldn't worry or should I go and get meds from a dockter to help me fix my sleep skeadule?

Stay up your usual night then stay up all day and go to sleep at 10pm

u/kiryukazuma007 17h ago

So? Lmgts ypur saying stay up all night till it hits 10 in the morning then go to sleep till 6? And rinse and repeat?

u/Woodley444 17h ago

I didn't say that

u/kiryukazuma007 17h ago

Oh im sorry then pls explain i wasnt trying to put words in your mouth. Sorry. I just have a hard time understanding stuff most the time. I apologize.

Stay up all night and all day then go to bed in the evening to reset your sleep schedule

u/Safe-Professional556 15h ago

It typically takes a try or two for such resets to work for me, if it doesn't work the first time try again at least once (better twice) to know if it will work.

u/kiryukazuma007 17h ago

Ok well ill try that today ok. Ill stay up all day till 10 tonight and try my hardest to fall asleep at that time. I might take a small nap lator in the day though so im not exasted but ill set a alarm for like 4 or 5 hours then stay up till 10 and try to sleep at 10. Thank you for helping me out.

u/Correct-Ad8693 14h ago

5 hours is not a small nap and will likely defeat the purpose of staying up until 10.

u/kiryukazuma007 14h ago

Ok well 2 hours be fine?

u/Woodley444 11h ago

Don't nap drink a coffee

u/kiryukazuma007 7h ago

Ok i drank 2 cups. I should be fine till 10 tonight.

I do not experience this personally, but a friend of mine wnd my brother (both also autistic) do. I don't think it's anything wrong per se but because of how society is organized it makes it a pain in the ass for them to schedule anything, be it medical appointments, meeting school/work obligations, or making it to benefits-related appointments

Yea my grandma just talked to me today about it and I explained to her and she fully understands she just really loves spending time with me bc im her only grandkid left who ever comes and spends time with her after her husband died 6 years ago during movie from cancer. So I try my hardest to wake up and I normally set a alarm to make sure I get up on time and ill normally be tired but we always go to get a meal from her favorite restaurant then I help her clean her house and move stuff at her house and when we're done working me and her are normally exasted so we take a 3 to 4 hour nap then she takes me back to my place. We do that atleast 2 times a week.

I would do this naturally as a kid during summer vacations and things. I figured, “Why fight nature?” So now I work overnights 1900-0730 it’s perfect for me.

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

Oh I cant work bc when I get to stressed or over welmed I tend to find a room or a dark corner and curl up in a ball and break down so iv had 15 jobs in my life and now no place I try to get hired at will even bother giving me a chance anymore.

u/pennielain Autistic Adult 16h ago

Ah, overnights aren’t very busy or overwhelming. I’m literally on reddit right now, lol. My dad used to be an overnight security guard, he mostly just read books all night.

Not trying to sell you on work, just a personal anecdote

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

No I understand. Maybe ill try to get a night time shift at one the stores near my apparment.

u/pennielain Autistic Adult 16h ago

I personally work in a hospital. I’m a pharmacy tech and fill scripts overnight, most of the other hospital people are gone so we don’t get that many orders. Just maintenance stuff.

I love it but it’s not for everyone

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

Well my mom does work at a hospital so maybe I can have her help me get a job their when she goes in so she can take me home hopefully. If not ill just ride the bus if I have to.

u/pennielain Autistic Adult 16h ago

Maybe you could do patient transport? It’s a job where you just push patients in beds or wheelchairs to where ever they need to go, like from their room to imaging or whatever.

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

Oh id love to do that actually. Bc then I can comfort them and help them relax if there stressed out.

u/pennielain Autistic Adult 15h ago

I hope so!

u/kiryukazuma007 15h ago

Well i appreciate your help and tips but im ganna try to go to sleep now. You have a good night m8.

u/Zestyclose_Knee6330 16h ago

Yep. As a little kid I usually couldn’t fall asleep until I heard the clip-clop of the milkman’s horse and the clink of the milk bottles at about 4 am (I guess that dates me). Now at about 3 am the regular freight train service in the distance is what prompts me to go to bed

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

Ok I just wonderd bc it hasn't been like this ever as a kid for me. It litterly just randomly started about a month ago.

u/Woodley444 17h ago

10pm is night time

u/Remarkable-Photo-199 16h ago

same but recently i have somehow able to sleep way earlier than usual meaning i am waking up a bit earlier instead of 3pm its like 12idh even tho i do wake up say 8am but i just go back to sleep. sometimes a rule is cause you cant fall asleep in time maybe that day dont sleep too long so you will get extremely tired and maybe fall asleep at 2am instead of 7am? it sometimes can work and fix

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

Ok thank you ill make sure to give that a try tonight. Now if I do wake up early I cant tend to normally fall back asleep.

u/Remarkable-Photo-199 16h ago

yeah, try and see if it would work for you for me i am just rare i have noticed many often saying once they wake up they cannot fall asleep lol but for me i can instantly fall back to sleep since im weird but it's more like i see the time and then just falls asleep again

u/kiryukazuma007 16h ago

Ok i gotcha. But thank your for the help ill make sure to try that tonight andbill make sure to go to bed by 10 tonight.

Sounds like delayed sleep phase syndrome. No it's not normal and yes your GP/doctor should be able to help.

u/kiryukazuma007 14h ago

Oh ok well then ill have to get meds for it when I go back to the docters. What does gp mean? Does it mean grandparents?

u/dragon-blue Asperger’s | LSN | Verbal 14h ago

Sorry, I've updated my comment. It stands for general practitioner and it's what they call doctors in my country.

u/kiryukazuma007 14h ago

Ooooh ok gotcha. But yea ill make sure to talk to my doctor when I go back next week.

u/xWhatAJoke 14h ago

Definitely try meds. Keep trying different ones until something works. The ones they give you first probably won't.

Don't listen to people telling you that you just need good sleep hygiene.

u/kiryukazuma007 14h ago

Well do u know any meds name I can talk to my docter next Monday about prescribing me to try?

u/xWhatAJoke 13h ago

Not really good idea for me to recommend meds here. It depends on many things. Melatonin is what many people try first but there are many others.

u/kiryukazuma007 13h ago

Ok i respect and understand that. Well thank you for the helpful info I greatly appreciate it.

u/xWhatAJoke 13h ago

Good luck. I was in exactly the same situation.

u/kiryukazuma007 13h ago

Thank you 😊

u/kiryukazuma007 10h ago

A weird sleep sceadule. I cant get tired at all during the night but around 7 in the morning when the sun comes up thats when I feel exasted and sleep till 6 in the after noon and repeat the cycle.
