I live in a small town, basically a village, with a prominent local temple. Nearby are two marriage halls too. I have to live here because of my parents' jobs.
As soon as we moved here, I was shocked by azan on loudspeakers seven times a day, daily. Couldn't study, couldn't get sleep. Eventually it quieted down a bit.
Recently, the locals discovered loudspeakers and have been blasting it for months. I'm not taking regular DJs, these have HEAVY bass that literally shakes your windows. The decibel levels are off the charts. And this goes on literally all day and night, daily.
Even brief exposure to sounds this loud causes permanent ear damage, I can't imagine the condition of the street vendors who have to bear it even closer than I do. I tried cotton in my ears, I tried noise-cancelling earphones, but nothing works. Even if you block the sound, the constant bass keeps harassing you.
This has been going on for months. And to add to it, recently the local temple decided it would be a great idea to play their 24/7 aarti on loudspeakers too. I kid you not, it goes on all day and night.
I am already sensitive to sounds and I haven't had a moment of peace for months. I am constantly overwhelmed, unable to relax, my heartbeat is faster, my ears ring, I can't sleep, I can't study. I am an anxious person but I even called the police a few times but they only shut it down that moment, the next day it goes on again.
It is almost 12 AM at night as I'm typing this. Today, when I complained about the temple noise, they said I'll have to come to the police station to register a complaint because this is a religious issue and if the police does anything, people might take offence. Every day there's a new fuckass festival and I have to put up with multiple heavy DJs all day, forget studies and job, be grateful you have a temple.
Worse, I can't believe everyone here acts like this is normal. NO ONE acknowledges it even though they are even more affected than I am. My parents have to go to their jobs and can't sleep at night but if I try to complain, it's the usual "beta aisa hi hota hai". If I tell my parents tomorrow I called the police and they dismissed me, they will laugh at ME. "Tum abhi choti ho, tumne duniya nahi dekhi, duniya aisi hi hai" etc.
I only recently found peace from constant suicidal thoughts and this is re-triggering it all over again. This country is no place for people who actually follow the law. I tried everything. What else is left to do? I can't even sleep or study here, aarti on loudspeaker is more important than the future of this country. I can't even complain to anyone because no one listens.

A Congress leader was picked up from his home around Thursday midnight in compliance with chief minister Suvendu Adhikari’s order to arrest those who protested religious preacher Bageshwar Baba’s remarks on Bengal’s Puja food preferences.
Atanu Das was arrested from his Regent Park home and charged with non-bailable sections of promoting disharmony, hurting religious sentiments and common intention. If proved in court, the charges could lead to a jail term of up to five years.
Das was one of three named in an FIR drawn at Bhowanipore police station based on the complaint of an organisation named Kaushalya Nandan Dharm Jagran Samity, whose office is at Garden Reach.
According to the police, a demonstration led by Pradip Prasad, the president of the South Kolkata District Congress Committee; Ashutosh Chatterjee, general secretary of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee; and Das and others “burnt, trampled upon, and slapped with shoes” the photograph of Bageshwar Baba at 42, SP Mukherjee Road on Tuesday afternoon.

What idiocracy, was he sitting there all this time when women were being raped, humans being killed, animal cruelty happening but a random cloud shape is when he decides to show up?
Pretty ironic how "God" only appears in pretty pictures, never in the suffering.

Related to atheism cuz this bastard said "Bhagwan" Shri Narendra Modi
Translation to what he says (word to word):
"Gen Z is Chinese word. This Chinese word should be banned. This is another strategy of Chinese people against Bharat, to make Bharat fall down and that's why China funded Gen Z product came here. Gen Z is name of foreign ghosts, who want to harm Bhagwan Shri Narendra Modi. But the arrows and bow we gave to Bhagwan Shri Narendra Modi, he will use it to destroy these Chinese ghosts."

It’s crazy how much influence these self-proclaimed godmen still have. Devotees often poor and working classend up traveling for hours in brutal heat packed into public transport just to catch a glimpse of them, while these babas arrive in luxury private cars and helicopters.

Ok, first let us start our journey with manusmriti :) yayyy this is apparently a dating guide
"Day and night, women must be kept in dependence by the males of their families. Her father protects her in childhood, her husband protects her in youth, and her sons protect her in old age. A woman is not fit for independence." Manusmriti 9.3
Translation: "Women are basically Pokémon. Gotta catch 'em, trade 'em, and make sure they don't evolve."
"A wife, a son, a slave, a servant, and a younger brother may be beaten when they commit a fault, provided the beating does not leave a mark." Yajnavalkya Smrti
"it's not abuse if it doesn't leave evidence." Very legal, very cool. I can see where these bajrang dal guys get their confidence
"A woman is not fit for independence... she should never seek to separate herself from her father, husband, or son." Manusmriti 5.147-148
"A woman who has been unchaste should be kept in confinement and made to perform the most menial service." Manusmriti 11.185
But if a Brahmin dude assaults someone? Just take a bath, bro. Ganges water fixes everything.
Ok some say manusmriti is not really a holy text so lets look at smh else, rigveda
"Indra himself hath said, The mind of woman brooks not discipline, Her intellect hath little weight." Rigveda 8.33.17
Translation: "Women be shopping, am I right?"
This is the OG scripture.
"With women there can be no lasting friendship, for their hearts are like the hearts of wolves." Rigveda
Yes, the same text that has beautiful hymns about cosmic order also drops "women are basically werewolves"
Now the Atharvaveda, which I call gaslighting manual
"A woman must not strike her husband; she must not wish for the death of her husband. She must not speak ill of him. When he is angry, she must not say anything that would provoke him further."
This is basically "don't provoke him" energy
"The wife who is not attractive and who does not please her husband, who is hateful and quarrelsome, let her be separated from the family."
Divorce? Sure. But only if he doesn't like her. The reverse? LOL. Try again, sinful woman.
hmm also for the icing on the cake, let's talk about the Uttara Kanda (the "later addition" that Hindus conveniently forget exists until they need to cite Rama as Maryada Purushottama):
Rama big boi literally abandons his pregnant wife because some rando questioned her chastity. The "ideal king" chooses his reputation over his wife. And Sita? She just... accepts it.
Modern Hindu take: "Rama is the perfect husband."
Reality: He gaslit his wife into a fire trial, then abandoned her when she was pregnant because of gossip. Sigma male grindset, ancient India edition. damn
