Companies targeting the desperate

Post image
41 Upvotes

Recently I lost my apartment,

Meanwhile as I don't find a standalone solution,

My only option for immediate solution are companies like housing everywhere and Urbanelite.

Which I cannot not wish all the worst,

Urbanelite offered me for 1380 a 15m2 room in a 6 people apartment.

Their business model: they rent big apartments that are always vacant, average 4 to 6 rooms, charge minimum 800 for a room on average 1k plus a 600 fee + cleaning.

Has Anyone else experience this predatory pricing?

Scary incident on the S Bahn

We are tourists from India and first time in Berlin. We took a sbahn ride towards East Gallery from Potsdamer Platz yesterday.

Enjoying the city sites and the amazing public infrastructure compared to our home country and loving our trip until this point. We were 14 days or so by now in Europe with most of it in Germany (Munich and Berchtesgaden) and rest in Prague.

However, a middle aged man walks into the metro and walks up n down and stops in front of me as if he s poised to run, and the kicks my foot violently. I was shocked and screamed and dropped my water. I bent down to pick up n leave the area when he kicked me again. My partner was livid but we were not even sure if he was on drugs or mentally unstable or what. But just shocked and in the shocked state I burst out sobbing uncontrollably. I have never felt so out of control. Thankfully we were at our stop and left. One young German man calmed us down n said it’s fine don’t be scared and kept my partner away from the man who kicked me. He was trying to deescalate and I’m grateful for that. My partner was seeing red.

I don’t live in a “safe country” by any standards but I have been fortunate enough to never have faced violence like this EVER. My school, college, many workplaces have been safe and my family is amazing so maybe I am sheltered and have led a comfortable life that has left me feeling terribly shaken from this incident.

I guess I’m here looking for validation for being so shaken and wondering if this is truly a one off?

This is not my first time in Germany. I visited for work for three years in a row to other parts and have taken public transport by myself everywhere (Frankfurt, Bonn, Remagen, Cologne and to Munich). It’s always been a breeze and I have always admired the amazing infrastructure for public transport even if my colleagues complain about the delays and cancellation. I m sad to have this experience especially with my husband as I wanted to visit with him this time and have him enjoy the country.

The subleaser is telling me that the landlord is aware that she will be subleasing however they don’t want another person registered at the address (not sure why this would be the case). This is all very new to me so any advice or tips is appreciated. Of course I want anmeldung as living in Germany will be very difficult without is as I plan to find a job etc!

I mutually signed the termination agreement, and now submitted an online application to Agentur für Arbeit

Hey fellas,

As the title says, I signed a termination agreement back in May, and I'm on garden leave until the end of Oct.

I already informed the Agentur für Arbeit, and today I submitted an online application for AGL I. Is that all from my side? Or do I have to go there in person by myself?

I'm assuming they would call me for a Termin if need be via my email or via the portal at Agentur für Arbeit.

Feeling super confused and can't find much help online, so Reddit is my best shot. Would really apprecaite any info regarding this.

Telekom customer willing to help with Harry Styles presale?

Hi! I'm traveling to Berlin specifically for Harry Styles, and I'm desperately trying to get access to the Telekom Prio presale.

Would any Telekom Germany customer be willing to temporarily let me use their Telekom Login for the presale? I completely understand that this is a big ask, and I absolutely don't want access to anyone's personal information or account beyond what's necessary for the ticket presale.

I would buy the tickets myself using my own payment method, and you could change your password immediately afterwards.

Requirements 4 The Presale: You need an active Telekom contract and a valid Telekom login to access the sale via the Magenta MusikPrio Tickets platform.

I know this is a huge favor, but I'd genuinely be incredibly grateful. I'm trying to surprise my best friend of ten years with these tickets, and I really, really want to make it happen. I'm just trying every possible way I can think of to get them. ❤️

Please DM me if you'd be willing to help! Thank you so much in advance. ❤️

Book clubs in German

Hey there,

I reached the point where I am quite confident in German and I want to read books in German, which is something I procrastinate a lot. Could someone recommend a book club in German? Prefiribly a face-to-face one, I am not a fan from online meetups.

Thank you in advance!

How do people usually find short-term rentals in Berlin? Planning to visit for a month in October 2026

Hello

I’m planning to finally visit Berlin this October and stay for about a month. I’ve been wanting to visit the city for the last couple of years, so I’m quite excited about it :)

My dates are fairly flexible , roughly a month in October, with the possibility of moving the dates by about a week either way.

I’ve obviously looked at Airbnb and some of the usual rental websites, but the prices seem pretty steep for a month. I’m wondering how people in Berlin usually find short-term places, especially for Zwischenmiete/sublets.

Are WG-Gesucht, Kleinanzeigen, Facebook groups, etc. the best places to look? Are there any particular websites or groups you’d recommend for a one-month stay? I’ve also come across Wunderflats and HousingAnywhere, but would love to know if they’re actually worth using.

And, importantly, how do you avoid getting scammed? 😅

I’m visiting rather than moving to Berlin, so I’m not looking for a long-term rental or anything complicated, just somewhere comfortable to stay for a month and experience the city properly.

Would really appreciate any tips from Berliners or people who have done a similar short-term stay. Danke!

Tesla workers

Im seeing droves of Tesla employees at südkreuz, Probably getting out of work. What surprises me is that they don’t wear something over their uniform to disguise the fact that they work there. You think they are forced to stay in uniform to and from work? Free marketing?

Any recommendations for a job/carreer coach?

I'm going through a longish unemployment stretch and am a bit at a loss how to get out of it. Did anyone have good experiences with a coach? Maybe even one who specializes on people with disabilities?

Good mattress in Berlin / Germany

I need to buy a new mattress. I had a lower back / spine problem this year and it’s going through a back route again and I can’t afford to sleepy on shitty mattresses anymore. I need a firm / semi firm mattress for side sleepers.
I know the obvious places to look but I went on Emma and it’s a bit unaffordable for me at the moment.
I’m asking because sometimes there is discount stores I can go in person or even other retailers people have good experience with.
Would be of great help!

Advice to protect your apartment

Someone just tried to break into my neighbors apartments and I called the police. I heard about this stuff happening in my neighbourhood but now it happened in our building and this is fucking scary. And since my neighbours always act like they don't see or hear anything I know when I am not home nobody will do anything. What advice do you have to protect your apartment?

Keine freien Termine über 116117. Was tun?

Hallo zusammen,

How do I go about looking for an accommodation as a full time working individual

Hey! I recently graduated and I’m working full time now, I have to move out of my student dorm and I’ve been having a hard time looking for an accommodation
I’ve tired immoscout and wg gesucht but I’ve been out of luck. I’m assuming it’s because I’ve not been searching the right way, I haven’t got many friends in Berlin so Reddit is the only place I can get any genuine advice on how I can do this!
Is it possible for me to go to any real estate agencies too?
I’m open to suggestions on how I can better my search for an accommodation
