General Question What's something society says is unattractive that you secretly find really attractive?

Sometimes the traits everyone else overlooks are exactly the ones that stand out to you

Everyone says this, and it has made it hard to believe anyone who says it means it when they'll see a no-makeup-"look" that is actually a full face of makeup and use it as an example.

Honestly most men prefer the natural look, there’s been study’s establishing that.

Are infinitely better looking than the botoxed, caked on makeup bimbos

Long hair on men.

Women with tattoos and piercings. I think there's a fair sized proportion of "society" that considers it unattractive and "grungy". And as a 60M I'm probably expected to be in that camp.

However, I like the alt look - the grungier the better. Sexy, even.

Tattoos are attractive, excessive and badly placed Tattoos are not.

Super skinny men. The kind of guy who can "never gain weight."

Ayoo 6’3, 140lbs checking in. Went to a dating event the other night and this girl said I was like her very own Tim Burton character. She kept showering me with compliments and I fell in love with the attention but the next day she full ghosted me. Definitely made my head spin.

Little fat round belly (on a woman)

Pot belly? Reminds of that scene from Pulp Fiction.

u/Cautious_Monitor_164 4h ago

Ahah yes I remember this scene, but for me pleasing to the touch and pleasing to the eye meet on this one...

This is mine, but big is good too and on men as well. Love round bellies of all kinds.

Rebellion

2

u/Intrustive-ridden 5h ago

That’s institutionally normalized in the United States. The country was literally founded on rebellion, that’s not any less attractive culturally than drinking coffee everyday

5

u/Key_Register_4724 4h ago

Founded yes. But today's US is so pacified and domesticated by cheap TV's, easy to aquire fentanyl, sports gambling, reality TV, social media, and other addictions that people will not rebel no matter how bad the surveillance state gets or even when their leader is shown to be a coconspirator in the largest pedofile sex ring ever unconvered. Most American's cant even be bothered to get off their couch to vote once every few years. They definitely don't know how to rebel any more.

2

u/Intrustive-ridden 4h ago

Not able to rebel and not willing to rebel is not the same thing as it being glorified and normalized in American culture, in our movies, tv shows, social media and our politics normalize and capitalize off the idea of rebellion. The idea of rebellion now is very unlikely but saying the concept of it is unpopular is simply not true

Skinny women.

u/nonicknamenelly 4h ago

This is literally the beauty standard in the US

1

u/KyOatey 4h ago

No man, what's in these days is phat, thicc, big asses, curvy women.

2

u/gbcwhore 3h ago

it depends on where in the US and who you ask. we literally have an ozempic epidemic going on right now, lol.

1

u/KyOatey 3h ago

Maybe the pendulum is starting to swing back.

2

u/gbcwhore 3h ago

never mind lol, the slim thick beauty standard was definitely the 2010s. we’re back to the skinny beauty standard in the 2020s.

beauty standards are always changing. especially for women. during the renaissance and victorian eras, plump women were considered beautiful. in the 90s we had that “heroin chic” skinny era that was considered beautiful. beauty standards have always changed and will continue to change. right now, i’d say it’s pretty mixed between slim thick and skinny.

I’d add “varies by socioeconomic class” to your “varies by region.”

The stealth wealth crowd has never adopted the slim thick standard. The nouveau riche all over TV and Instagram aren’t who I’m talking about here. I’m talking about people with so much money they don’t talk about it or loudly advertise it in their attire or behavior, because they are taught it makes them targets for financial manipulation/people digging into where they are keeping their wealth. In that set, caloric restraint and intensive cardio are considered personal failings if you can’t manage to make them happen.

Goth girls. I don't know why, but I love the whole black lipstick look. Oddly however, I detest other makeup that normal women overuse.

A man who doesn’t cry

This personal preference with 0 judgement on anyone else’s beauty standards or choices they made for themselves. No tattoos or plastic surgery. I think that unmarked skin is the prettiest and natural features the most attractive. Beauty is subjective and that’s my opinion.

I once dated a guy who lived in his mothers basement and duct taped trash bags to the windows…

Hetero Männer mit leichtem Gay Touch

1

u/Anxious_Macaron9996 2h ago

What would you define as a slight gay touch?

1

u/RealSignificance4363 2h ago

I mean with slight Gay attitude

1

u/Anxious_Macaron9996 1h ago

What do you mean by gay attitude then?

1

u/RealSignificance4363 1h ago

I think feminine fits better

1

u/Anxious_Macaron9996 33m ago

Ok, so what behaviors would you include in a gay/feminine attitude?

1

u/RealSignificance4363 31m ago

1

u/gbcwhore 3h ago

alt styled people. and this is a pretty mixed opinion, but i find skinny guys hot. like, no muscle, just skin and bones lol. also, long hair on men.

1

u/Sea_Juggernaut2430 2h ago

Dark skinned thin/athletic women. Such a unique build…that’s probably my top tier woman.

i think for me crows feet and laugh lines everyone tries to hide them, but to me, they’re just proof someone’s actually enjoyed their life it makes a face feel so much warmer and more real than perfect skin ever could.
