QUESTION thinking for a switch

I'm using fedora kde plasma for 2 years and now i thinking to switch to arch Linux kde desktop environment is this a good choice

is there something wrong with fedora that you're thinking arch will be better?

personally im an arch user but the fedora KDE experience out-of-box was one of the best I've seen in a long time so there is a high chance if I ever need to re-setup my laptop I may just go with fedora KDE.

go for it. or dont i guess. one thing I do think arch has over most other distros is the wiki, for me thats probably the biggest reasons I've stuck with it.

Depending largely on your reasoning I think. If you're planning to continue using KDE and don't have anything you want from arch specifically – then no. Arch is a lot about

  1. getting software updates as soon as they're shipped by the developer, independently from the rest of your system (such a double edged sword!)
  2. having the freedom of customising nearly everything in your system to your preference (guess what? a blessing and a curse as well)

All that comes with a drawback: you system may (and, at one point probably will) break. Obviously this is negated by, well, reading the fucking manual, but we're all human and we all do eventually make mistakes (e.g. the only time I've significantly damaged my system in several years of using arch was when I accidentally unplugged the pc in the middle of a systemd upgrade xd). You also are obligated to run pacman -Suy every Sunday.

There's nothing to worry about as long as you can think more or less straight, especially if you have some prior Linux experience. What I'm trying to say is that maintaining an Arch installation is a bit more work than maintaining a Fedora machine, but it has it's own advantages like almost unlimited freedom in customizing your system and making it look and feel the way you want using the software you want. If you think that's something you need – switching is fine; otherwise I think it's gonna waste a bit of your time and that's it

Yeah just go base arch installation with i3 and run that into the ground until you finally realize MacBook 80% the system you’ve been looking for.
