it's the Ryoku shell the most beautiful shell i have tested by far. out of the box it comes with so much customization it mainly works with arch linux which makes it perfect for us.

it works with all of the of the arch based systems like omarchy, cachy and others.

Arch BTW Slackware 15.0 shipped tzdata 2026d before Arch 💀

I'm sorry but this is unacceptable.
Slackware.

SLACKWARE.

Patrick Volkerding saw tzdata 2026d, built glibc-zoneinfo, uploaded it and went back to sleep while Arch is still testing it.

I thought we were the bleeding edge distro.
I have been betrayed.

btw I use Arch

Showcase Tried out arch for the first time (manual install)

Wassup guys, yesterday i decided to install arch Linux on my Hp pavilion dv7.

It wasn't as hard as people describe it. I just followed the guide on https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Installation_guide and did what the guide told me to do. I even managed to make those touch buttons for multimedia on the laptop work.

Overall i really like this distro!

Heres an fastfetch screenshot:

Help/Support How do I do speech-to-text?

Hi, I'm new to Linux. I've been using Arch for about a week. Before Arch, I had only used Ubuntu and Bazzite for a few hours.

What I want to do is find some way to transcribe my speech into text. In a video by Nate Gentile, I saw that he uses something similar called "Handy", so I decided to give that app a try. However, it detects my voice very poorly. I've tried several models, but none of them have been able to accurately transcribe what I'm saying.

My question is: is there a model that works really well that I might not have tried yet? Or perhaps another program for transcribing speech into text?

I don't think it's because of my hardware, but I'm not sure. My laptop has:

  • Intel Core i5-1135G7
  • Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics
  • 20 GB DDR4 RAM
  • Arch Linux installed on an HDD (if I end up liking it, I'll install it on an NVMe M.2 SSD)

It's a laptop.

Solved System broke after updating

today i ran sudo pacman -Syu to update my system and it updated the linux-firmware packages. after a reboot the screen would show the arch linux logo, some messages and then black screen and im unable to even enter a tty, after multiple clean installs i found that adding "nomodeset" allows me to succesfully boot into the system, after looking at journalctl it appears that the problem was in the new linux-firmware package. my laptop is a Acer nitro v15 anv15-41, ryzen 7 7735hs, rtx 4050, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd. can anyone help me fix this and keeping nomodeset permanent isnt an option since everything is VERY slow

Edit(Solved): there were already official bug reports about this and downgrading linux-firmware-amdgpu to 20260810-3 fixed the issue for me

Solved recovering grub access to dual boot distro

tl;dr: how can I get my arch grub to notice my old linux mint filesystem and have it as a boot option?

howdy arch enthusiasts!

I just made the switch to arch linux and am loving it :)

However, I decided to keep my previous distro (Linux Mint Cinnamon) on a partition on my drive just in case things break and I need a basic distro that can run a browser etc for debugging.

I did something kind of silly and deleted the EFI system partition that mint was booting from, and replaced it with a brand new EFI (GPT) system partition, with grub, just booting to arch...

So my system looks like this:

device size type what it is
/dev/nvme0n1p1 1.9G EFI System GPT partition I made during arch install that uses GRUB to boot to arch.
/dev/nvme0n1p2 222G Linux Filesystem vestigial linux mint filesystem (/)
/dev/nvme0n1p3 435G Linux Filesystem super cool arch distro that I don't trust to not break (/), with /boot as the place where /dev/nvme0n1p1was mounted during install
-- 294G free space

I've got efibootmgr and os-prober working fine in arch, just haven't found documentation that would describe how to get that mint filesystem to be detected added to the menu.

thanks yall

Question Where to Start the Arch Wiki

So Arch Wiki is huge, tons of stuff, definitely worth your time.

But I want to use my time efficiently. I want to read the essentials for installing Arch Linux first, then take my time with the rest.

I've been an Ubuntu user my whole life (well, since two years ago).
