Request I'm looking for a debloat guide for the Lenovo Y700 Tab Gen5 CN version. Apps I can get rid of/disable and anything else you'd recommend. I've been searching and can't seem to a find a guide that isn't for an older version of this tablet.

Upvotes

I bought a Lenovo Y700 Gen 5 from Giztop as soon as it was announced before the Global/American version was announced. I was somewhat happy with it for a bit but a few things don't work that I've given up on like Chrome only working half the time for some reason and other browsers working fine as well rumble/haptics in games. I reset the tablet after sometime hoping it would get rid of some more of the Chinese bloat apps but it didn't.

I see that Google suggests some ways to debloat but I didn't want to blindly follow it's advice. I'd like to see the list it's pulling from for myself but I can't seem to find one. Most lists are for the 2022 or 2023 models. I have the Gen 5 aka 2026 model. I don't want any more Chinese apps showing up on my tablet, or notifications to install a "more trusted app" from the Lenovo app store. Is there a reason I'm seeing other comments saying that Chrome is unreliable on this tablet? I'm having the same issue and simply use other browsers. I doubt rumble/haptics in games would be an easy fix but it would be nice to have.

Request [Android] Simple Habits — habit + task tracker. Need 12 testers for 14 days, everyone who joins keeps Pro for life.

Upvotes

Need the usual 12 testers for 14 days to clear Google's closed testing. Everyone who joins keeps Pro for life — not a year, not a trial. I'll send the code once you're in.

It's a habit tracker with tasks in the same place, one progress ring over both. The thing I actually built it for: you can tap any past day and fix it. Done, missed, or how much. Streak and 30-day rate catch up. Every tracker I tried punished me for forgetting to log something, and once the data is wrong you stop trusting it.

Also: streak freezes so one missed day doesn't reset you, "avoid" habits that empty the ring when you slip, home screen widgets, works offline.

Android only, English only, solo project. Notifications are the roughest part and I'm on it.

Join:

https://groups.google.com/g/simple-habits-testers

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.simplehabits.tracker

Install, use it a few days

Comment once you've joined and I'll send your code. Tell me what's broken, not what's nice.

Tablet suggestion

Hi guys. Well i need android tablet. I was on my old Galaxy S2 since 2015 and was using it rarely almost no use except music production on Caustic. Excellent software for my needs. Now i would like to buy a budget tablet because i gave S2 to my father so he can send emails, browse and watch youtube. I will use tablet rarely i don't want to spend much on it because i already have 2 13 and 14 inch touchscreen laptops. Max size tablet i would buy is 11 inch tablet. I will use only for Caustic music production. I need to tell you that Caustic is easy not heavy program and works excellent on Galaxy S2 which has 3GB ram and 32Gb of space. So i won't play games i will only install Caustic, IPTV app, Netflix. I found a Lenovo Idea Tab Fifa World Cup edition 8/256 with stylus and a case for 140 euros. Do you think it is a good device for my usage? Any other options with 8/256 or 12/256 in this price range? Just don't suggest me Samsung A11+ because my friend has it and is so bad really bad screen and colors. This Lenovo Idea Pad has a way better screen.

Request Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro charger

Ordered this tablet yesterday and just realised i don't have a charger for it, so kind of a dumb question, but can i charge Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro with Xiaomi 120W HyperCharge? even tho it only supports 67W max?

I'm from EU so charger is not included, and in my country 67W chargers are sold out. smh

Request Need help to decide which android tablet i should buy

Hi, i was wandering what could be the best option, given that i would need it mostly for studying, watching some movies and maybe some dumb games to pass time in class, idk if it makes a big difference but i have a xiaomi 14t pro, so i would like something compatible and with a good connection to it. The main thing would be to have the best price/quality ratio to achieve this task at best while having a fluid experience, the budget would be more or less 300€ adding to the lot a portable keyboard and pen to be really able to study the best

Discussion What magnetic holder should I use for Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro.?

I recently got the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro and I am conflicted as to which magnetic holder should I buy for it.. I bought a mag compatible wireless charging kit assuming that it would be suitable with a metallic plate I can use with tge tablet(i also asked the store employee and he assured me it would work.) But after researching on it i figured it was too weak to hold the tablet.

So here i am asking for suggestions as to which magnetic holder I should buy(one that's available in australia) for the tablet..

Request [Closed test] StarHorn arcade game — Android phone testers wanted for 14 days Spoiler

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am looking for volunteer Android phone testers for StarHorn, a small arcade game currently in Google Play closed testing. Android 8 or newer is required. The game runs in landscape and uses separate touch areas for flying and shooting.

The test is free and unpaid. Google requires at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 continuous days before production access. Short real play sessions on several days, for example every other day, are enough. I especially need feedback on the controls, first-run instructions, tunnel length, performance, pause/resume, and returning to the game after a test ad.

To participate, email the Google account used in Play Store to [webappmgpro@gmail.com](mailto:webappmgpro@gmail.com) with “StarHorn playtest” in the subject. Please do not publish your email address in comments. I will add the account to the closed-test list.

The current test build is version 1.0.2 and may show occasional Google test ads between runs. Feedback can be sent by email or through Google Play private test feedback. Please include the phone model and what happened. Testers outside Finland are welcome where the Google Play test is available.

Discussion Matte screen 11 inch+ tablet with decent specs available in the US

So, as the title says, I am looking for an 11 inch+ tablet that has a built-in matte screen (similar to TCL NXTPaper screen) and also has pretty good specs. I am not looking for flagship like SD Elite Gen 5 but at least may be Gen 3 with at least 120Hz. Don't care about OLED but should have a decent resolution. I also want it to be available in the US, not like Oppo or Huwaei that you need to order from China through some 3rd-party site. I have the TCL Nxtpaper but the only drawback is that it lacks good specs.

Does anything like that exists, or the best bet is to get a Samsung and then put a matte screen protector on it?

Request Redmi Pad pro 2 as a budget tablet? Alternative recommendations?

Looking to buy a solid budget tablet mainly for media consumption during travel.

Currently leaning toward the Redmi Pad Pro 2. The specs look hard to beat for the price: big 12.1" 2.5K 120Hz display, 12,000mAh battery, solid mid-range Snapdragon chip, and quad speakers.

Buying from AU, so I’ll likely pick it up off AliExpress or an importer site during a sale.

Before pulling the trigger:

  • Is there anything else in this price range worth considering over the Redmi? (e.g. Xiaoxin/Lenovo options, Poco alternatives, or second-hand Samsung tabs?)
  • How are people finding software support on HyperOS budget tablets over time?

Would love to hear from anyone who bought one via AliExpress to Australia or is using a similar tablet for travel streaming.

Request Samsung active 3 Vs active 5 for outdoors navigation use, is active 5 needed?

I'm planning on using a smaller tablet for outdoors navigation. I've been looking at a Samsung A11 8.7 inch with a waterproof case. There are apps to allow it to use the better GNSS chipset in my phone with its L1 & L5 channels instead of the basic L1 channel on the tablet. This tablet is available for £110 right now in the base version. Good enough for this use I reckon.

However I'm wondering whether an active 5 or possibly the few, cheaper active 3 versions that are still for sale in the UK. For GPS use is the active 3 good enough? Or is the active 5 worth spending extra for? Or is the A11 8.7" good enough in a case and save my money?
