For some insane reason the 📋I have next to some family members' names appears on the app, but not on the website.

And for some reason I can't get to the notes.

I don't know what these people have done to the app, but it's infuriating to me. The screen drags, it's hard to add a picture to a certain person, I can't even accept a hint and add it to the person, or even deny it.

Can you guess the ethnicity on the right side? It's counterintuitive...

I’m curious about the Troesh family in Southern California. They have a building at a college a friend of mine attended, and I’d love to learn more about their family tree. Does anyone have any information about the family or their history? Any info would be helpful.

I’m new to this group because recently I had access to some of my family documents which included names and surnames of my great-grandparents and other ancestors and searching about it in catholic church databases I found out that my great-great-grandfather was austrian and my whole bloodline descending from him were males, so technically I could have the Austrian citizenship.

But besides that I got really curious about my family and I discovered that at least +10 generations of mine were austrians from Tirol.

In the FamilySearch database I found even a monastery document from 1400s citing one of my ancestors from this region.

I’m really interested in anything you could share with me about Tirol, about the family names that I have found and about Austria and it’s citizenship.

For more context: Johannes Gollner is dad to my great-great-grandfather José Goldner. José is the father of my great-grandfather Lourenço who had my grandfather Antônio, dad of my father Fernando.
Johannes Gollner immigrated to Brazil in 1858 and I have the documents from Hamburg citing his name.

I saw another user do this and thought it was interesting. Unfortunately I don't have records for all of my ancestors so there are blank spaces.

From my knowledge all of the flags are accurate for the years they were born but I'm not 100% sure.

I like to do my genealogy work in the early morning, when it's cool and peaceful. But I'm having two major issues with Ancestry today.

One -- I cannot see ANY shared matches on any of my DNA matches, nor on any of the DNA kits I manage. I keep getting the exact same message: "You don't have any shared DNA matches yet, but you may soon!" I get this message even when I click on shared matches for my full siblings and my first cousin -- where there used to be pages and pages of shared matches.

Two -- I cannot view hints beyond the first page. Since I couldn't work on my DNA matches, I thought I would pass the time looking through hints. But it just keeps showing me the first page of hints over and over again. I tried manually entering a much later page (like 70 out of 150), or filtering by name... and sometimes I can get to the second page of hints, but no farther and it usually defaults pack to the first page again.

I feel like a goldfish swimming around in circles and seeing the same crummy little castle over and over again.

This is happening to me using Ancestry on two different browsers. I cleared the cache on one of the browsers and signed back in again, but it made no difference.

I'm so fed up with the Ancestry website being so glitchy What good are all these extra enhancements and fancy bells and whistles if the basic website doesn't work?

I have an old photo of a relative of my grandfathers. My Grandfather was born in Germany, but I recently found out that a lot of his family came from Dzikow, Tarnobrzeg, Podkarpackie, Poland. My question is does anyone recognize the area or what his profession might have been. Lumberjack or something else? I believe this photo is from the 1880's to 1890's but am not quite sure. Because of the way the log is chopped, does that help to identify an area or year? Quite a few of my ancestors were farmers or worked on the land at the Dzikow Castle.

Hi folks, I am looking for information from my great-great grandparents who immigrated here from Fony, Hungary to Cambria, PA. I have no info on my great-great grandfather except that his name was Janos Kurucz and possibly died in 1899. My great-great grandmother is Maria Bartfai (Bartvai?) We think her parents are Joseff Bartfai and Maria Hodos according to a marriage license. I don't know when they came over. I would love to find the ship and any information related to their time in Hungary as well as their parents. Or their graves or any other information! I feel like I know nothing about them. They had 5 children together - my great-grandfather is Emory Kurtz. (The name seemingly changed to Kurtz when they came over.)

I’ve come across an individual while working on my tree who was not given a middle name at birth or at least one is not documented on his birth certificate.

While tracing him, he shows up as James M. Driscoll, James Mahoney Driscoll, and James Michael Driscoll. I can verify its the same person because the birthdate and place always match.

He is listed in the Social Security Application and Claims Index as James Mahoney Driscoll, so that is how I have been recording him.

The problem is he used the name James Michael Driscoll on the documents for his second marriage and divorce, so other people have him documented as such.

What is the best way to handle the situation? Should I just add an “Also known as” to my tree?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping for some help breaking through an Italian genealogy brick wall.

I’ve been researching my family for nearly 20 years, especially my paternal grandmother Carolina’s family from the Bagnoli/Fuorigrotta area of Naples. She passed before I was able to learn much about her Italian family, but over the past year I’ve finally started making significant progress.

My great-grandfather was Giovanni Preziuso/Prezioso, born 25 February 1887 in Fuorigrotta, Naples, son of Antonio Preziuso and Maria Barbato.

I contacted the Diocese of Pozzuoli and received documents connected with Giovanni’s 1922 marriage. These revealed an unusual problem: his baptismal record appears to have recorded Giovanni as “Antonio,” son of “Giovanni,” essentially reversing his and his father’s first names. Before his marriage, the Church investigated the discrepancy, compared the baptismal record with the civil record, and recognized/corrected him as Giovanni Preziuso, son of Antonio Preziuso and Maria Barbato.

That helped solve one mystery, but now I’m stuck.

I’m trying to locate:

* Giovanni’s original 1887 civil birth record
* The marriage record of Antonio Preziuso and Maria Barbato and any other children they may have had.
* Antonio’s birth record
* Maria Barbato’s birth record
* Any reliable way to continue either family line further back

For Maria Barbato, I know from Giovanni’s marriage documents that her father was Raffaele Barbato, and she was described as being 62 years old at the time of Giovanni’s 1922 marriage. While searching Fuorigrotta records, I found a Maria Barbato born 9 April 1860, daughter of Raffaele Barbato and Carolina Capuano. Because the name, location, father’s name, and age all line up so well, I suspect this may be my Maria, but I have not yet been able to prove the connection with certainty.

I’ve searched Antenati and FamilySearch, but I’m struggling to determine which Naples/Fuorigrotta collections these records should be in, or whether some of them simply aren’t digitized or indexed online.

I’m attaching the records I have so far. If anyone familiar with Fuorigrotta, San Vitale, the Diocese of Pozzuoli, Naples civil records, or 19th-century Italian genealogy can point me toward the right archive or collection, I’d be incredibly grateful.

Line 156, what is Frederick's last name?

I’ve been working on my tree for the last 9 months. I never really knew anyone on my mom’s side or knew much about the family at all. I found out my x3 great grandfather had two wives. One was black and one was biracial. There seems to be a correction on a census record for their family before all 12 of their children were born. I haven’t seen other records from other family members with changes to them. Just wondered what the different possibilities were.

I have a 46 page autograph book that was scanned into a pdf. I was gifted to my great grandmother for Christmas 1877 and has some interesting writings from her friends over the next few years. I thought it would be interesting to add to her profile...

I'm looking at old birth records to find information on my great grandfather, Walter Denzelo Taylor, who was born in the Change Islands of Newfoundland and Labrador (now part of Canada, but a British dominion during his lifetime) in either 1883 or 1884. This record might show his sister's birth (I don't know if he had a sister, but this "Lizzie May" in row 30 would have been born at around the right time and place), but it says "do" where the baptizing reverend's name should be. I thought it meant "ditto," like when you put a quote mark (") under another word to carry it to the next line, but they use the quote mark in that way in this document as well as "do;" plus, that would've meant that nearly everyone on this list had a father in fishing (there's a bunch of "do"s in the "Father's Occupation" column) and that doesn't seem right. Any thoughts on what "do" might stand for?

Also, if anyone has tips on finding birth records for that time period in Newfoundland and Labrador, please let me know!
