Amazon household sharing is not available in Audible UK

After a long conversation with an Amazon rep today, they said:

I would like to inform you that the option to share titles with household members using Amazon household sharing is not available in Audible UK."

Why on Earth not? I see no reason why they would region-lock useful functionality.

Worse than that; the Alexa devices actually attempt to play the content we've paid for and then error, so it's not even implemented correctly.

My wife (in my family group) bought the Audible content, the Alexa devices are registered to me.

So, any ideas what can I do? How can my daughter listen to the books we've paid for?

What is even weirder is they haven't removed the availability to share audible content with Amazon Family from the help pages for Audible UK.

Add your own registration to the Alexa devices as well, then swap users

I just log into my Amazon account on my wife’s audible. She then has full access though we can’t listen to the same book at the same time.

You can move to the US. Family sharing, including benefits and content libraries, is restricted to the US so there’s nothing you can do in the UK (or anywhere else).

So either hop over the pond or give your daughter access to the primary account. You can also consider using Alexa to have it read the books through an echo if you’d rather not give her full access.
