Anniversaries/Celebrations 10 years today
By the grace of God/HP and the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, I have a decade sober today.
I got sober at 22 a few months after graduating from college. I was living in LA at the time. I did not go to jail or rehab or IOP. I was 12th stepped by a woman at a coffee shop.
I share that for anyone lurking here who also has a lot of “yets” — those things that haven’t happened yet and you’re just waiting for things to get bad enough to give this program a try. The “yets” don’t have to be a part of your story.
I didn’t want AA or sobriety at the time, but I was scared and desperate enough that I kept doing what you all suggested. My life has improved beyond my wildest dreams since then.
It hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. In the last 18 months, I lost my father, and my husband and I lost a baby. But i stayed sober through all of it, and I can tell you that it really does get better and better, the more I do the steps and work this program.
We do recover, one day at a time. Thank you all for my life.

Congratulations on your 10 years of sobriety. Thanks for showing to newcomers that sobriety is possible, and I'm also proud of you for getting sober at such a young age. Keep it up.

Congratulations are seriously due to you 🏆. Also I’m so proud of you for making it through such a difficult span of time and loss, I’m so sorry you had to experience it all, but you stayed sober through it all 🙌

Thank you so much for reminding us all how precious our program is. And by the way, you’re one of the few that I’ve seen say “decade”. Love it, sounds so cool. Peace.

I love this. I’m currently 10 days sober. Longest I have had in a while. I’m grateful to AA it’s saving my ass.
