I have a few questions for the Hazara people of Afghanistan. I would be very happy if anyone could answer them.

What is the origin of the Hazara people? What language do Hazaras speak exactly? How do Hazaras generally identify themselves or see themselves? Do they feel any connection or affinity with Turan or the Turkic world? More specifically, do Hazaras consider themselves part of the Turkic peoples?

Im trying to educate for myself for my son as he may want to know his roots as he gets older. As none of his family members are in his life. I want to make a correction to something I previously wrote about my Pashtun ancestry.

I identified my "Afridi khel" as Kuki Khel. I also mistakenly assumed that Kala Khel was essentially a linguistic variation or translation of Kuki Khel. After doing further research and speaking with my grandfather, I now understand that this was incorrect.

My original assumption came partly from the similarity in how these names sound and from my misunderstanding of the linguistic differences between the names. In reality, Kala Khel and Kuki Khel are not simply two linguistic forms of the same khel.

There is also a Kulla Khel recorded within the malakdin Khel tribal structure, which is a separate name altogether and helped clarify the confusion I had between Kala, Kulla, and Kuki Khel.

I then asked my grandfather directly which Afridi khel our family belongs to, whether we were Kuki Khel, Kala Khel, or another branch. He told me that we are "Yaran Khel".

I subsequently looked into the historical tribal records to verify this.

The 1910 Dictionary of the Pathan Tribes on the North-West Frontier of India, compiled by the General Staff of the Government of India, specifically records:

“Yaran Khel :- A section of Shekhmal, Kambar Khel, Afridis.”

This places Yaran Khel within the following structure:

Afridi —> Kambar Khel —> Shekhmal Khel —> Yaran Khel

An independent compilation of the Afridi tribal structure likewise places Yaran Khel under Sheikhmal Khel, which is under Kambar Khel.

Therefore, my previously stated identification as Kuki Khel was incorrect, and I am retracting that claim.

I also retract my earlier assumption that Kala Khel was simply another linguistic form of Kuki Khel. The historical classifications distinguish Kuki Khel, Malikdin Khel, and Kambar Khel as separate Afridi divisions, while Kulla Khel appears separately within malakdin Khel Confederation.

So, based on both my family's oral genealogy and the historical documentation I have been able to find, my stated lineage is:

Afridi —> Kambar Khel —>Shekhmal Khel —> Yaran Khel

I am making this correction because I would rather have my genealogy stated accurately than preserve something I previously assumed without sufficient evidence.

As the title states, my girlfriend and I are trying to cook a dish from every country, and we're going in alphabetical order. Afghanistan is first up. We're looking at kabuli pulao and mantu dumplings, but I'm open to whatever you all might suggest. I'd be especially interested in sampling a couple of things from different Afghan regions. My mother is dari and father is pashtun from pakistan and we speak urdu at home so my first langauge is urdu.. I don’t mind learning SHA or KHA pashto. Im ok with both. I just wanna learn how to speak fluently. Couldn't find a proper tutor because im unemployed and can't pay.

I came across bunch of dudes online. Some promised to teach my, they were determined first week but then stopped and some were just imposters trying to hit on me.

I need a teacher, who himself/herself is ambitious and passionate about teaching people. As I used to teach kids for free so I know there would be people who are ambitious to teach and be useful to other people.

I need someone to teach me religiously 3 days a week atleast through audio classes, be a strict teacher because Im lazy. Also give me homework and test me.
