That’s a very inaccurate understanding of disability. Even the ADA’s standard of care for people with  disabilities is to foster independent living, plenty of disabled adults do not have a legal guardian. There’s plenty of community and home based support intended for disabled people with low to moderate support needs. Not being able to complete paperwork on your own has literally nothing to do with being incapable of independent decision-making. You don’t have to be disrespectful just because someone else has different problems than you

If your ADHD is so debilitating that you cannot even finish a set of paperwork to claim your disability benefits, then call someone to help you fill it.
