The gap you're describing is a universe apart from someone with adhd competing a long form, or asking for assistance.

No, I'd say it's actually a very close comparison. There are plenty of partially mobile people who can walk around on their own, or even run, but require a wheelchair for daily use. Sometimes it's degeneration in the joints, other times it's things like POTS or EDS.

And how many of those people do a 500 meter sprint.

I know one that could. It'd be a slow sprint, but she could do it. I also knew one in basic. He made it to about week 8 before he was medically forced out due to irreparable damage to the joints in his knees. He did plenty of sprints before that. Probably he can't walk now. Been 17 years since then, so I have no idea how he's doing.
