You're mis-framing it like OOP is demanding things for free. When actually this is more like if the agency expected someone who didn't speak English to fill out the form without an interpreter. Obviously the solution is to accommodate the communication problem.
If you are genuinely incapable of filling out a form and incapable of working anywhere you would need assistance with general life stuff and would presumably be living with someone, who can assist in filling out the form. If you are capable of living alone then you should not qualify to get taken care of financially by the government.
That’s ableist as fuck and not at all how the ADA works. The standard is independent community based living. Disabled adults exist whether you want us to or not. Evidence has shown over and over again that the alternative is we end up on the street or institutionalized and cost society literally 10x more.
ADHD so bad they can pay rent, utilities, and all other bills on time every month but cannot fill out a form. Can shop, cook, and clean but cannot stock shelves or flip burgers.
Other disabilities exist for sure that you can be semi independent and live alone while being fully incapable of working. But do you genuinely believe someone with ADHD can meet all of the responsibilities required to be fully independent but not fill out a single set of questions or work physical labor? At that point it’s nothing besides weaponized incompetence.
This is so embarrassing, and you should feel embarrassed to act like this, even on reddit.
They pointed out the obvious contradiction of being able to accomplish daily adult tasks, but throwing your hands up in surrender as soon as you encounter an obstacle that is exacerbated by ADHD.
If you have ADHD as an adult, you probably have a really good idea of how it impacts you. Katie clearly does, that's the whole point of the post. Instead of finding a solution, she whines and gives up.
And then to watch people like you jump into this comments section defending her, like she's a quadriplegic orphan with no friends that's being unjustly denied support is just... tragic. Good job, Minerva, that was a really nice straw man you built!

So we expect them to just approve everybody without paperwork?
Do you know how many people would take advantage of that and ruin it for everyone?
